I know these coaches are making bank and all, but this is a slap to the face to all the coaches. Talk about burning the bridge between the admin and the people on the front lines with the student athletes. I can only imagine what Charlie Strong must be thinking. He has to try to win with all of this undermining from the admin. What a poor leader. It would be different if cuts were going on everywhere because the athletic dept was losing money, but that is not the case. This trivial undermining creates so much angst. Steve Patterson could break an anvil with a banana.
And then on top of that it is cash only. The dining facility doesn’t take credit cards. If you take something away from someone at least try to make it easy for them to deal with it.
Yeah, ask their women’s tennis coach about it. Oh, wait, you can’t, because the last two have quit because they don’t have a tennis facility (TEXAS DOES NOT HAVE A TENNIS FACILITY) and the only place the coaches could meet with their athletes was… ready?
THE DINING HALL.
And this rule applied to all coaches in all sports.
Patterson is doing more damage to Texas Athletics than John Mackovic and Jackie Sherrill combined.
If you have to pay airfare to play in Dubai, you’ve got to cut somewhere right? Plus there’s no history or tradition of football at Texas, so looking to play in a Mideast country makes perfect sense.
You don’t get to become an AD at ASU and Texas by being an idiot, unless gross nepotism or something similar is involved. He’s almost certainly egotistical and short sighted, among other character flaws, but I’d bet he still has an IQ of 120+.
At $10 a day the $300,000 is 82 meals a day for 365 days, seems like that is a lot of coaches eating a lot of meals at school. Seems high, fuzzy math again?

Didn’t he take away free tickets for the professors too?

I heard he did as they were scalping the tickets. The UT fans I know are glad he did it.
