And your “ah, shit” post of the day

This I definitely did not want to hear.

Life really isn’t fair sometimes.

That is heartbreaking. It reminds me of Trinton Sturdiant. I hope he recovers quickly.

I hope he gets back and can play. Some of these freshmen receivers better get on the same page with our new starting QB……..who ever the hell that going to be.

The lack of credible info from CMR is getting annoying and a bit ridiculous. If JSW is out for the year, tell us. There isn’t a thing anyone can do to make it better, but people would like to know what is going on. If he will return at some point, then let people know that as well. Just be honest and forthcoming with what is going on for goodness sake.

You act like you have some sort of “right” to know…you don’t.

Didn’t say what I did to get a rise out of you or anyone else. I just don’t see the point in CMR’s secrecy. He doesn’t want to elaborate on the QB race, fine, we’ll all find out soon enough. Plus, there is some strategy involved there. Not so much in this case. That being said, I don’t see any other coaches/teams being so tight lipped about injuries, season ending or otherwise. Guess I’ve just had enough of these types of answers given by CMR through the years. Why even address the media?

Thanks, interesting read. A tad bit of a different situation, but I see your point.

Bingo. Kinda like listening to CMR’s post scrimmage interview today. Absolutely no substance whatsoever.

Check out the latest from Sir Nick in Tuscaloosa. Telling reporters not to report on what they see in practice.

I am with the Senator, and most others here, why do you think you need more information? And how do you judge “no substance” at all? We got all the information we needed: no significant injuries, offense won some, defense won some, no decision on the QBs, most of the injured are close to coming back but JSW isn’t, we worked on live kicking and situational drills. Good stuff.

We are two weeks away, I hope there are no major changes to this info/status report. That news sounds pretty good, and we fans do not need more until the games actually begin. We are the pick to win the East by the majority, and a few “experts” have us in,, or near the Top 10 teams. That is awesome, can’t wait to see this team at work. Surprise us CMR.

Teams prepping for us thinking that we might have a speedster WR back for their game makes them consider that during their prep. Saying guy is out for most of season takes that concern away. Typically that would not be a huge deal, but in a year when we are so bare in the experienced and skilled WR area, it kind of is.

If worried about how Vandy may or may not prepare, then we are in trouble. By the time a game of any real significance rolls around, I’m sure that the status of his injury will be well known.

        • Unless we are holding him until the big game. You don’t like it, don’t read it or listen to it. You want to know but don’t need to know. Take it for what it is and get pumped for the season in two weeks. Chips will fall where they will.
          Go dawgs!

  4. Has he already used a RS year? If so could he petition for a medical hardship year?

Yes, he redshirted his freshman year. I would say he could go for the medical hardship this year. It would take some cold eyes to look at his case and not feel he deserves one more shot at a healthy season.

That Tennessee game two years ago derailed two very promising careers.

Legally, its up to Justin to determine what he wants shared about his health situation.

That said, a medical redshirt technically can only be given when experiencing a season-ending injury and in Justin’s case, getting a sixth-year waiver. Reading between the lines, it appears his injury is not severe enough to be automatically deemed “season ending”, nor is a sixth-year waiver a guarantee.

They are giving him time to see how rehab goes, then will make a decision on what to do when it becomes apparent if the injury is season-ending or not.

Given the uncertainty around a sixth-year waiver, I believe he will play later this year.

We are still feeling the affects from that damn game in Knoxville in ’13. I wish we would go up there this year and pound the ever loving shit out of them. I’m not talking about intentionally hurting anyone. Just humiliate them within the rules. Run the score up as high as possible and take absolutely no mercy on them. I can still hear Andre Ware saying, “All Butch Jones needs is to get that signature win. And I think he would really like for that to come against Georgia.”

Then there is this from Kolton Houston today: “JW’s definitely battled some ups and downs, but that’s life. JW is gonna bounce back,” Houston said. “He works hard, he gets back in the treatment room. He’s gonna get back out there. I’m not really sure exactly what’s going on. I saw him running around a little bit today. … He fights hard, and he’s gonna get back out there.”

So he was running around today? WTH. I am confused.

Not exactly “he was reppin’ it hard with the 1’s” but unless Houston was dreaming, or has become party to Evil Richt’s plans, you’ve gotta be a little more optimistic after reading this.

  8. The question in my mind, if he requires another surgery, is does he come back at all. I think we’ve had more than our fair share of guys whose careers were ended while wearing the red and black. Don’t really get it. I hate it for him and wish him the best.

“Don’t really get it”…..That’s football. It happens. In high school, college, and the pros. See the insanely good Alabama receiver who broke his leg catching a touchdown (Prothro I think). Never got to play in the pros, and he was TEH AWESOME. That was it after that injury. Some injuries are worse than others, and not everyone returns to full speed. All that said, I don’t know where JSW stands.

Sorry. Just trying to fit in and got carried away.
