Damn, CBS, ctd.

Man, these guys really are all in on Georgia’s chances this season.

Author and title please? Seems to be a common problem that the link to CBS articles just directs to front page.

Maybe it’s a conspiracy to raise the expectations for UGA so high CMR can’t reach it and there by warming the seat. šŸ˜‰

Many of them are still high on Auburn too. Maybe they know something we don’t. I hope all these good opinions of us are not our downfall. Pruitt spent some time tempering expectations of the D yesterday. https://www.dawgnation.com/football/team-news/pruitt-tempering-expectations-for-georgias-very-inexperienced-defense
Maybe he’s trying to offset the high expectations and sober us up a little. I do think our chances are as good as any if we stay healthy. Every team in the conference seems to be having their own concerns.

Is there a link to this same SEC prediction report from 2014? The “it’s his/their time” argument doesn’t hold much water with me. All this gushing makes me think we’re screwed.

IF I knew that anyone’s predictions would turn out spot on, I wouldn’t want to read nor hear about it…

Answered my own question. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/eye-on-college-football/24657073/sec-preview-expert-predictions They were super high on Nick Marshall, pretty high on SC, cold on eventual East champ Mizzou.

The first comment by Dodd..that Georgia would lose to Alabama on a last minute play to preserve the SEC a place in the playoffs….WTF was that?

Probably a tip of the cap to how Bama, and other programs, get the extra advantage by pollsters, broadcasters, media, and the playoff committee, that re denied to others. Look at Bama 2011 after a regular season loss to LSU, and what happened to 2007 Georgia and 2014 TCUwhen they mysterious dropped to accommodate “more deserving” programs”. I think Dodd’s comment is about what happens if UGA and Bama both enter the SECCG with two losses, a Tide team would likely make the mini-playoff and UGA would likely be dismissed.

My question, again, is whether this reflects confidence in UGA or a recognition that the East is bad. Honestly, the East is historically down right now, with UGA being the (hopefully) lone exception. On paper, the East should be a cakewalk for UGA this season. The SEC is the only meaningful prize, IMHO, for a team as talented as ours is.

  10. I’m not even gonna read it. As a dude who wore a clock around his neck and brandished gold plated teeth once said…don’t believe the hype.

I just don’t get the AU love. They were bad down the stretch last year, lost the thief at QB, and Muschamp is going to go postal on Gus with his HUNH offense putting his defense back on the field in 45 seconds of play.

Agent Boom is battle-tested – the best marketing slogan for P5 defense industries. He gives Gus tremendous forward momentum like the Maginot Line. Boom has repeatedly been awarded the highest seal of approval by officiating crews throwing flags at him. As a result, he easily sells the AU love. Immediately after each operation, and perhaps even during, all kinds of media marvel at and appreciate Boom’s capabilities to blow a gasket but get over it quickly to still be a fun, easygoing coordinator capable of normal interpersonal relationships

  12. The link worked flawlessly for me. Interesting preseason read but nothing to get too excited about.
