Hate to hear this news

Seth Emerson is reporting that Scott-Wesley “appears to be contemplating whether to end his days as a player”.

Do what you think is best for yourself, young man.  Playing college football is a big deal, but so is being able to walk without discomfort when you get to be my age.

Very sorry to hear this. I understand completely if he chooses to walk away. Operative word here is walk.

I feel comfortable knowing that he will get good advice from the adults in his life.

For him quitting football is probably best. I don’t think he has played enough time/experience that any NFL team would really want to give him a look. Might as well just get the free education he was given and try to use that direct his life where ever else he may want to go with it.

In my opinion, if this is being contemplated, the answer is sadly obvious.

It’s probably too late to walk without pain in his 50’s. Maybe he can make it through his 40’s without too much pain.

He’ll be remembered a long time for a great 85 yard TD.

And for what could have been. Hate it for him, but it happens to so many. At least he had his moments, seems it is time to prepare for the real world. Not the worst situation to be in, good luck to him. After the last year, the spring, and then the lack of reports mentioning him this summer, I had a feeling something was still missing. Maybe he can make a contribution helping those young receivers this season. Good luck with what ever decision you make.

And the look on Spurrier’s face as he sprinted past him. It was a thing of beauty.

I am sure he’d hate to stop playing, but in my mind, he’s already done Great Service as a Dawg.

Come on science. This is 2015, we have sent machines outside our solar system but we can’t find ways to protect these kid’s knees? I really wonder if the rash of knee injuries we have seen in CFB over the last few years is the result of the head to head contact penalties that are being enforced? Which begs the question, what part of the players body is protected better, the head (helmet) of the knees (plastic knee pad?) At what point will the powers that be do something about this? Too many good football careers are being cut short.

  9. You know this has to be tearing JSW up, I know at that age I just wanted to play. However at my age I know that looking out for your long term health is much more important. Good luck with your decision and you will always be a DGD!

With all the experience we have had with knees it seems like he has good medical advice to base his decision on. I wish him well whatever he decides.

I wish JSW all the best, no matter which route he chooses.
