Honestly, if anyone else had received the honor, it would have been more surprising than Leonard Floyd’s hands to the face penalty.
He had 11 tackles, 2 sacks & 5 TFL. JORDAN JENKINS is the Week 2 Defensive Line Player of the Week. #SECHonors pic.twitter.com/s7d7DU35SS

āAnd Georgia fans, donāt be turds. Enjoy this. Soak it up. Itās awesome. If you donāt win this year, itās still not a failure. Itās a heck of a run. Back-to-back in the Playoff era hasnāt been done. So, to ask for a third I feel like itās gluttonous. I feel like itās not OK. But weāll be in the mix.ā-- David Pollack, On3.com, 5/9/23
Well done, Jordan.

He was the Boss. He was dominant in all phases of his assignments. It’s been a while since a d-line has played such a dominant game for UGA. Rocker’s a coaching upgrade and it’s paying dividends. Who’s next?

Crazy thing is that he had 9 of those in the first half. Nice halftime adjustments, Vandy.

Vandy switched to a short passing game and that helped offset his impact.

Just think, we lost an All American caliber talent in the first quarter in Carter and didn’t bat an eye. This is the most wicked linebacker depth I have ever seen in my entire life.
Congrats, Mr. Jenkins, you deserve it and we are proud of you.

I know there are issues, but dang this team is exciting.

I agree Rusty, nothing as exiting as seeing Chubb break off a big run. And the speed on that D is frickin’ awesome.

Look, I dislike our rivals as much as most of you do, but does it feel a little bit unfair to see a first string NFL player hitting innocent boys?
Nah, guess not.
But it just ain’t right watching that quickness and hustle on every play. If anyone is questioning why we went up 3 clicks in the AP, look no further.

Zo Carter is the one of the scariest players I have ever seen. I hope he and Jenkins maul the Gamecock QBs.

That picture is eerie. The eyes don’t move, but everywhere you go in the backfield it’s like they’re following you. š

Reminds me of a player whose name began with a “D” who played for a guy named Bud D in Chicago D.
Baleful eyes.

I love this quote:
“Part of that motivation came when his friend and position mate, Lorenzo Carter, was ejected for a targeting penalty in the first quarter. Jenkins says that āpeevedā him and got him going.”

We could tell him we are going to hold Zo out this week because he targeted. That oughta unscrew his cork.

Reminded from one of the Georgia headers: As a reminder that this is Prostate Awareness Month, should we tell SC that Jenkins is going to check them out?

Isaiah is ST’s SEC Player of the Week as well.

Not for the first time, I was watching the game and was thinking I was rather happy that Mr McKenzie just happened to play at the same school as Sony Michel and be good friends with him. And that, whilst recruiting Michel, UGA got some looks at him. And that, when he knew he had a free scholarship, CMR offered Isaiah McK two days before signing day, telling him that the punt return job was his to lose as a true freshman and that they would start working him into the WR rotation (and followed through on both counts).
Hopefully, it continues to work out for both UGA and Mr McKenzie.

Yep, that was a great story. I hope we get the same out of Kirby Choate. I’ve seen him on ST, covering kicks. I’d love to see him contribute.

Just D lineman of the week? There was a better overall defensive performance? What am I missing?

I’m sitting in turkey and watched online without the ability to rewind. Did they really call the penalty on 74 defense and then math it out? I watched the regular TV replay as it was happening and all I could see was 74 of the offense sticking his hands in Jordan’s face mask. Just trying to see if my hearing was correct on the number mistake (combined with the wrong direction mistake).

If you’re asking about the hands to the face call, it was made on Floyd (84). And, yes, it was a horrible call, as the Vanderbilt offensive lineman was blatantly holding Floyd.

Thanks senator, I was asking about that call. Did the red actually say 84? I thought I heard him say 74 (admittedly it was late and I was watching online). I thought it was weird because the OL involved in the play, the one actually fouling, was 74

Speaking of the Jenkins penalty, I suppose SEC officiating will remain at its grade-school level of competency until enough coaches and ADs make enough noise to force an upgrade. I only hope that the outcome of one of our games isn’t adversely affected again before the quality of the officials finally approximates the quality of the players and coaches.
