The second annual GTP tailgate is a thing.

The spirit of Hoppypalooza lives on, my friends.  We’re gonna take another shot at a GTP tailgate before Saturday night’s South Carolina game.

It’ll be in the same location as last year – the lot at the intersection of Baldwin and S. Thomas Streets, towards the end closest to the stadium.  Same tent and shitty signage to mark the spot, so look around.  (Being somewhat sober might help.)

Festivities begin at 11:30 and we’ll stick around until about 5:00.  Besides the tent, there will be music and limited seating provided.  You’re on your own for everything else.

If you’re in the neighborhood Saturday, please drop by to swap insults, or raise a beer in toast to Hoppy.  I’d love to see you then.  Don’t miss it!

Wish I had a little more warning. I would love to come up and just meet some of the guys and tailgate. Maybe next year.

  6. Sorry won’t be able to make it, had fun last year. Looks like the only game I’m going to make this year is Bama. Life (and kids!) gets in the way sometimes. And I managed to find you despite being fairly inebriated last year, so hopefully everyone else can too!

(As Bluto said, they set up at the end of the parking lot that is closest to the stadium. At least last year, there was much more activity at the other end of the parking lot, so that’s where we kept looking. We were about to give up on finding them, and just said “Well let’s walk all the way to that other end”, even though it didn’t look like much was going on down there. I think there was only one tent set up down there, and we thought “Surely that can’t be it” – and it was).

We’ll be there. You are in the long lot on the East side of S. Thomas St. / East Campus Rd, right?

Once you get parked and settled maybe it would help some if you dropped a pin in a google map and shared the link to that pin via a post on this page. or a tweet. or smoke signal. or whatever.

    thanks

  10. Bought my friend tickets to the game for his birthday. I can’t make it (all day volleyball tournament for my kid. Man, this kids thing is inconvenient) but I told him to drop by and get a pic for me.

I know its a long way away, but any chance the misses and I can find your spot at the Tech game?

It is the railroad lot. If you get to the intersection of Baldwin and Thomas/ East campus, look up- the lot is the lot above the tressel. Will be in the end closest to the stadium. It is a long lot. Listen for the best music. Stones, James Brown, etc

  16. Cool, I’ve been sober for 21 years and I still didn’t find you last year! Maybe it was the fight we walked through up the way!

Do you do this for every home game? I’ll be there for Bama and would love to say “hi”.

I would like to pay my respects, but I fear a swift kick in the pants as punishment for my oft over the top and obnoxious debate tactics.

Wish we could be there and witness some of your guests telling you how you are doing your tailgating all wrong! And, or course, to add my own brand of snark with something like, “Good to see how you’re spending all of that ad revenue money you make off of us!”
