There’s nothing like a big loss to bring out the best in people.

Okay, so Saturday wasn’t a good day in Alabama.  How do I know?

Well, they’re writing open letters to Junior.

Kirk Herbstreit, of all people, gets in a Twitter bitch slap fest with The Blind Side’s Leigh Anne Tuohy.

Auburn?  Well, there’s…“Tammy is next.”

One can only imagine what’s in store if ‘Bama actually loses in Athens in two weeks.

In a perverse way, I miss those Mondays when Finebaum was still local and both Bama and AU lost. The entire show was a bunch of Tammys and Phylis’ one right after another.

I also am kinda surprised that a Tide loss added to (I am sure) copious amounts of alcohol contributed to a murder in Alabama over the weekend. Now that’s progress, Alabama! Way to go!

You know, you’d think Herbstreit would know by now he’d be a target. Not because he’s biased (at times, I think he is, but more towards the ESPN doctrine of CFB, not teams outside of the occasional Ohio State plug). But because he’s an analyst on TV, he should have better composure. It’s one thing to debate, and another to get into a war of words with fans, even if it’s Leigh Anne Tuohy. He’s acting like a twelve year old and it doesn’t help. Clarify and defend your position, Herbie, but no need to hurl insults. That’s why people think you’re biased.

I thought it was petty as well. He didn’t even present or substantiate any position or opinion. Just threw insults at Tuohy because she called him out. But what else should we expect from a guy who advocated for a Michigan/Ohio State rematch in 2006 and then completely reversed course a year later in 2007 to “conf champs only.” And who called out Mark Richt for “discpline problems” while completely ignoring Alabama, Ohio State, Baylor, Oregon, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, Louisville, UNC, Miami, Auburn, et al.

So many of your examples are where I think he falls into the ” Don’t let the truth get in the way meme trap” administered by ESPN. He’s a pretty good analyst and announcer, but with all the ancillary stuff, he’s just another company hack stirring fabricated pots that they create and perpetuate.

It really is dumb, and for the life of me I can’t understand why high profile public people like Herbie continually jump into the gutter with lunatic football fans (who probably are under some sort of influence when making such remarks to boot). It would be like the CMO at Amazon getting into a street argument with some inebriated clown who shouts that their latest mobile marketing campaign sucks. I mean, what’s the point?

This is where Neal Boortz does it best. When someone sends him a rude message or calls him out on something, he simple re-tweets it to his followers. It drives the “lunatic fringe” nuts.

Look at the times of the tweets (3 am for Herbstreit); I believe alcohol was a factor. That’s not a defense, just funny.

Ok, ill admit it, i have never listened to finebaum, until now. This a staged call right? Some one please convince me people like Tammy do not actually exist in this world.

This is the first I’ve heard these people as well…and I came to the same conclusion. Just more of the fake and staged crap for entertainment and ratings.

The callers know what it takes to get past the screeners. And they are that desperate for the attention. Listened once 6 years ago. Never again.

I have heard the show before and I have to think that Tammy person is a staged call for entertainment purposes. It’s complete garbage and gives the SEC and the South in general a bad image, not that I really care what people outside our part of the country really care anyway.

The SEC Network should hire Jim Donnan to take those calls.
      He’d deal with their asses.

She might be fake, but most of those callers are legit—its just the warped culture they have going on over there. I was in Bham last spring, and on some local talk station/show there (JOX or something), the Bama/AU fans were arguing over who had the better DL for pretty much the entire show. And this was in April when CFB is totally dead with nothing going on.

When those people brag about cfb being a 365 day obsession with them, they aint kidding.

And they write on blogs during that time as well. What are those people thinking? Don’t they take time off from being a fan? And Blutarsky keeps writing these things and posting whereas Bulldogs come out of mountains, reemerge from the sea and skydive to get to a computer to talk football.

        It’s disgusting.

Yep, my first time actually listening to Fbaum. I actually feel dumber now.

    • I assure – these are all real people and this is really what they are like. I used to listen to the show when it was based on Birmingham on the Monday after any Bama loss as well as during the timeline of the Cam Newton scandal. Tammy is absolutely a real person and has been one of his regular callers for years. This was par for the course for her.

The open letter to the Laner is funny, I don’t care who you are. It’s funny because it’s true.

When do the Bammers stop giving Saban and Kirby a pass? Lane’s just trying to keep up with the 32 points per game they’ve given up against their last five Power 5 opponents.

I wonder how long it will be before Nick gets a brick through his window or Junior wakes up to find a “For Sale” sign in his yard.

Gotta say, I agree with RBR. I hope the Laner doesn’t decide to change in 2 weeks, though.

I made it about 30 seconds into Tammy’s call before I clicked it off. The Finebaum show just gives pro wrestling fans a platform on the radio.

Pretty much. They all sound like they should be talking to Mean Gene. Did Phylis ever call in yesterday?

      • This is the first time I have listened to Tammy. That was awful. I would hope that it is fake. Is it for humor? Its not really that funny. Like Beer Money mentioned, there is usually at least one shooting after a Bama loss. Tammy screaming and making her husband sleep on the recliner isn’t really hyperbole when real murders are caused by the same games that she is bitching about.

It’s safe to say Tammy wasn’t the woman Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield used when writing the famous love song ‘Calendar Girl’. Unless there are 13 months in the calendar year and the hidden month is about a rabid Doberman trying to shit out a chicken bone.

Here is the sad part. There are many folks I know in Georgia, who could not get into UGA, who cannot stop going on about how sweet the air is on the Plains, and although not clearly as intellectually challenged, have this huge chip on their shoulder about UGA and cannot help falling all over themselves to berate the Dawgs and become unhinged in their myopic defense of Thug U aka Auburn. Laughable really, the level of delusional thinking in these folks. At least GA fans have some perspective.
