Worth every penny

All that spending like drunken sailors on coaching salaries this past offseason – is it too soon to start questioning the judgment of people like Jeff Long and Jay Jacobs?

I’d say no, simply because even if it’s not too late to turn seasons around at Arkansas and Auburn, their main goal of competing for a title in the West is already dead and gone.

At this point, their focus has to be on not being that team, the last place program with the four million-dollar head coach.

And if you’re the lucky athletic director who winds up in that boat, where do you go from there?  Hope and pray it turns around quickly, or spend more of that SEC TV money on a buyout and new blood?

    • Well what I’d like to know is Why we are on our Third quarterback in as many years? What we need is a solid qb that doesn’t throw ints and can pass with accuracy and authority and…oh…wait….

Gee that and Butch Pleeze is 14-15 at this point in his third season. He might need bigger bricks? Faster growing bamboo? Dial antibacterial soap? Dorm monitors?

What say you that we trundle over to where they live and kick their asses this year?

Though their first 29 games, Derek Dooley and Butch Jones have identical records at UT at 14-15. Continuity, for the win.

I wonder how many of those “you’re about to be Butch Slapped” t-shirts that were prevelent all summer are still being proudly warn by UT fans?

Let’s see how UGA does after finally playing some ranked teams ok? Then we can talk about who’s overspending.

By the way, you guys think UGA is getitng bang for buck with Richt’s .333 winning % versus ranked teams since 2009?

Just left “TrackemTiger”. I don’t usually bother with other fans on their blogs.
    But this is rich GTPers.

“It wasn’t Gene, it was some kinda F’d up culture that has been allowed to permeate here on “the loveliest village. ”

I say we track’em, kill’em in their own habitat and bring their skin back to walk on barefoot for another year. Last year’s is wearing out anyway.

Anyone know how to wash shit-stains off tigerskin?

BTW, finally heard an honest pundit yesterday:
“How could we ever have picked Auburn to be in the NC?” “How could anyone have picked them to win the SEC?”

        Dickheads, meet Karma.

It’s why the record against “ranked” teams is misleading. Had we played Auburn in the opener, it would have been a win against a Top 10 team, LSU got one against that “ranked” Auburn team, we won’t have a shot at that. Scheduled has been totally Dawgraded, but we will still get their best shot. 🙂 Just win baby, one week at a time (no bricks, please!)

Came back to blog exactly that sentiment. The pundits have also elevated any Big10/Pac12 teams that they can think of in an attempt to cover their misinformed early rankings this year and the shitstorm SEC West Div crap they played with last year.

Looks like the WWL has gone so far as to politicize this year’s CFB season like Fox Nonnews does Republican Candidates. They are bad only if they affront Fox, not affront the rest of us. The West Div has now affronted ESPN by not living up to the hype crapload they dumped on everyone early and took the low road as far as giving short shrift to the rest of the SEC. If it wasn’t for Fournette living up to their hype a year later, you wouldn’t see hide nor hair of any SEC team reported. If it wasn’t for joint ownership of the SEC Channel, they would dump that also.

Senator, think we could get a blog on this subject this week?

Bert’s a douche but he’s pretty good. It’ll even out soon. His teams play hard and rarely get whipped.

Agreed. Bert’s public persona invites karmatic feedback, but the Hogs haven’t embarrassed themselves on the field (TAM & TTU good, Toledo less so) thus far in 2015 like Auburn has (LSU, MSU & ref-assured nip of Jax St); and what should easily have been a loss vs Louisville.

  11. Speaking of “worth every penny”… how about you have to pull out a rough victory over a 1-2 Vandy team at home, and you move UP in the rankings?

I feel like the SECW has done some good lobbying. “Whosoever shall beateth the Bama … “

On a serious note. Devon Gales, the Southern player injured yesterday, has movement in hands and is in good spirts. Many of our Georgia players have reached out to him on the Twitter.

Can he move his legs? I really hope that kid makes a full recovery. I hated to see that.

I’m not a doctor, but here are some hopefully positive thoughts…If the Doctors at the Hosp. in Athens had felt this was really, really terrible, wouldn’t they have flighted him to the Shepherd Spinal Center or some other place that absolutley specializes in this kind of injury? Swelling around the spinal cord can cause this type of condition and is temporary.
We certainly need to pray for Devon and his family and team.

Not if they determined they needed to let the swelling go down before they do anything.

Good call 84. They’ll get him stabilized first. Bad news is that he’s hurt.
Better news …apparently not a cervical injury but more mid thoracic.

        From ABH @ 2:00pm ”
The school after the game Saturday asked for “continued prayers for Devon and the entire Gales family during this difficult time.” It said he “will remain under the care of the doctors at Athens Regional until further notice.”

I’m probably “old school” on things like this sad situation for Davon and his family, but for me, I consider our University’s reaction to this to be comparable to winning an important title. The ways our Dawg Nation representatives in Athens – AND their families – have already reached out, and apparently are prepared to do even more, make me very proud to be a DAWG.
