SEC Power Poll, Week Seven

Gee, what do you know… Alabama and LSU at the top of a conference power poll.  That’s different.

  1. Alabama.  The Tide’s defense outscored its offense in College Station.
  2. LSU.  How does anybody fall for a fake field goal from the Hat anymore?
  3. Florida.  Not too shabby a showing with a backup quarterback in Baton Rouge.
  4. Texas A&M.  Aggies, you fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous of which is “never get involved in a land war in Asia,” but only slightly less well-known is this: “Never go in against Alabama when you’re perceived as a challenge.”
  5. Mississippi State.  Nice showing through its first seven games, but it’s all SEC from here.
  6. Ole Miss.  Losing by thirteen to Memphis doesn’t hurt your standing in the SEC West.  Small consolation, that.
  7. Tennessee.  Having to play a must win game in Tuscaloosa probably isn’t the Vols’ first choice this week.
  8. Georgia.  You’ve got to admit nobody expects the Dawgs to win when they only score nine points.
  9. Auburn.  Gus’ group showed signs of life in the first half against Kentucky, and then held on for dear life.
  10. Kentucky.  The ‘Cats never seem to be able to get over the hump.
  11. Missouri.  Mizzou plays Vanderbilt this week.  Is it possible for a game to have a negative over/under?
  12. Arkansas.  The only SEC West team with a losing record.  Are we in store for another season of “yeah, they don’t win, but the Hogs are such a tough out”?
  13. South Carolina.  Aside from The Citadel, the ‘Cocks have to split their four remaining games against TAMU, Tennessee, Florida and Clemson to become bowl eligible.  No wonder Spurrier bagged the season early.
  14. Vanderbilt.  The SEC cellar missed you, ‘Dores.  Welcome back.

Don’t forget, that backup QB at Florida is the guy that ran us ragged last year!

I think we are better than 8th in the League…time will tell.

Tech’s bowl streak is in serious jeopardy this season. As is the VA Tech streak. Dawgs need to get another win to extend their streak. If both of those teams streaks fall then UGA moves into the #2 spot behind FSU.
