So, just how weird is this season, anyway?

Tell me any of you saw this coming after the Alabama debacle…

… or after Saturday night, for that matter.

Weird? I dunno, seems like college football to me.

I just wish Rich had had that conversation with Morgan earlier in the year. You know that conversation some of us have criticized so roundly, the one that is said to be an indication of Richt’s lack of whatever it is the poster wants him to have…you know, that one?

The one that worked just fine, apparently?

Special teams two weeks in a row, gotta give that special teams coach a raise.

    • You realize he still shanked a chip shot, right?

Any argument that our special teams have been anything more than abysmal is preposterous.

Abysmal means miss all 4 attempts. Mediocre means make 1 of 4. Average means make 2 of 4. Good means make 3 of 4 including the game winner. Perfect is 4 of 4. Marshall was not perfect, but WAS good and Saturday. They don’t give out awards for abysmal. Just sayin.’

I guess we have to disagree. I don’t think a good motivation speech should have failure being ok as the primary component. We have all wondered why the team has regularly face planted at least one very important game each year. Well, maybe it’s is poor game planning, poor motivation of the players or maybe poor motivation of the staff. I am beginning to believe it’s all three. And that is the responsibility of the Head Coach imo.

Sat night was a hard fought, defensive masterpiece for the ages. Just like the natty between Bama and LSU. The combo of cmr and schotty are just plain deadly. can’t wait to see whats in store for the dawg faithful in jax.

I really, really don’t like disparaging our players, but our offense has a knack for drive-killing penalties, and those really came out on Saturday. If a particular guy had such problems on Saturday night with jumping offsides, holding penalties, and getting beat around the end, I don’t know how much hope we have for the UF game. If we get into a battle of field goals, though, I might like our chances better since they’re now holding open tryouts for their kicker.

They’ve lost two kickers to injury. How does that happen? I also didn’t understand all the complaints about Morgan after the game. He was 3 for 4 on field goals and didn’t do anything stupid on kickoffs. I don’t know if it deserved special teams player of the week honors, but he played fine.

Well when you have a record of having really good kickers for the last 15+ years, it is very easy for the fan base to go crazy when we miss one. I remember a few years back when Boise St was hot shit and the lost a game because their FG sucked (missed multiple that game and missed the possible game winner). Bama has a also had a stretch where they would not kick it unless they were at the 20 or better, because their kicker sucked. We have been literally spoiled to have had kickers for whom 50 yard kicks are just expected to be good. Also to the many fans who are pissy about the miss, it was an angled kick, and those can be a bitch. He also barely missed it. I would get the burn him at the stake attitude if he missed by a mile.

Really? Ole Miss sure isn’t. I doubt that USCe, Auburn, Arky are either. Not to mention Vandy, Mizzou, and UK. Doubt A&M or Ms St spend too much time thinking about us either way. Same for LSU. I’m sure the gators are feeling cocky and most likely will get their chance to, but they’ve still still got to play us. So by the SEC you mean Bama And UT, who actually have bragging rights, and a trolling douche like Finebaum.

That’s the least of our problems. How about an offense that has no creativity, no spark, no excitement, little yards, and few scores. We’ve gone from the most productive offense to the least productive, and the year is only half over. Actually, I believe it will get even worse, if that’s possible. BUT, I’m a DAWG forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morgan should expect a Valentine card in February 2016 from CMR and the SEC Special Team awards committee.
Hope that inspires Morgan to be able to check from 75 yards out against the Gators, after all he is the leading scorer and the only player to put points on the “old scoreboard lately”. Maybe they will name the scoreboard in his honor and achievements. His feet do not cross the goal line, but his balls do. That counts.

What a sack of crap, I mean this Morgan kid is the sorriest FG kicker I have ever seen, not like he ever did anything worth a crap since getting here.

  9. Some of you seem to have reading comprehension problems.

Special teams have been abysmal this season. Special teams does not exclusively refer to Marshall Morgan.

Oh, thanks, chili, I thought the post was about Marshall Morgan being special teams player of the week.

      Always a pleasure.

I’m sorry, where did you read the claim that special teams the past two weeks had been just dandy? Maybe your mommy should cut back on your ADD meds.

There does seem to be a reading comprehension problem, chili, but it is not with us.

Umm.. I believe our ST scored ALL of our points last game, of which I apparently need to remind you that we won..

And if that weird shaped ball rolls end over end ONCE more, that onside kick would have been executed perfectly.

Add in the punt that was reviewed for possibly hitting the Mizzou player, which in slow motion I am 99% sure it touched him, but it did not go our way.
I believe we had a similar situation vs Tenn with a ball that was really close to, if not, touching a player. Then add in Davis’s punt return for a touchdown and the fact that Godwin had several 10+ yard returns vs Mizzou and I would say our punting and kicking game are a hell of a lot better than they had been this season. That is by no means saying I am not unhappy about things that have occurred with the kicking game or return game play of our ST. Fumbles on kick offs happen, go ask Bama how they managed not 1, but 2 in the same game. It sucks and it will burn you unless your D and O can overcome it. The real issue here is that our O has been so crappy, that our D has been left on the field more often than not. Thus, we have a young and tired D that has been getting exposed and an O that is more likely to go 3 and out than it is to score. If our O was putting up 28+ a game like they were with Bobo, ST play would just be a footnote about another win.
