Your stat two-fer of the day

If you believe in trends in evaluating Georgia’s chances on Saturday, then there are a couple of things worth noting.

  • Since 2006, Georgia is 4-0 against the Gators when rushing for 150 yards or more and 0-5 when it doesn’t.  (Before you ask, last season Chubb rushed for 156, but with Mason’s sacks, Georgia’s rushing yards totalled 141.)
  • The Dawgs are 4-1 against Florida under Richt when breaking 20 points and 1-8 when they don’t.

I would argue that’s not a small sample size, but your mileage may vary.

  1. The rushing yards stat is most important. When we run effectively and protect the passer, the playbook opens up significantly.

I don’t see a Georgia victory without Sony and defense (most likely Jenkins doing his best Jarvis impression ) having big games.

So, we basically need to find a rushing offense to beat Florida. We need to run the ball effectively and score points doing it. Kind of flip the narrative from last year. That would mean controlling the LOS on offense, taking the pressure off the defense and keeping their offense off the field. I am all for it, but can we completely change our offensive identity at this point in the season?

So if our O runs for 150 on 75 attempts, and our D and STs score more than 20 points, we win.

alright well 2 clear goals to watch.

    run the ball. score points.

Faton Bauta running the ball should help with the rushing totals

Don’t think it is coincidental that Douglas has been practicing at #2 and will be available to block as well as run and that Bauta, our RQB, may also play. Yeh, I’d say we are going to run it.

Reminder for Fabris Pool. Thought I had picked Sunday, but it didn’t take and I promptly forgot about it.

I hope we don’t pass it one time and run the ball 66 times. Hell run the wishbone. I’d like to let them stew all year about not setting the edge…
Just score 1 more point than they do and get the hell out of there with a W.

No no no. Does no one else remember when Donnan tried the wishbone vs UT in 1999 and how not well that gimmick worked?

Sorry, Senator. What happened 10 years ago doesn’t mean shit about who is winning the game Saturday.
