Cocktail Party game day thoughts

The quarterback choice will drain the oxygen out of the tent, but the big deal for today?  Line play and turnovers.

Can’t say I’m feeling overly confident about the Dawgs’ chances, but I’ll be there.

I’ll try to update from Jax if circumstances allow, but in the meantime, consider this your game day comment thread.

I’d like to suggest limiting/making big plays as key to the game. Seems like we’ve had a knack for doing alright on some of the fundamentals but just coming out on the wrong end of several big plays in past games.

I am definitely more engaged in this game than I was 24hrs ago. It is going to be frustrating to hear all the spinning by the talking heads all day though. Anyone else notice that there is way too much talk time for all the CFB media pundits? It’s a viscous cycle, bunch of experts all thinking they’ve got the magic phrase to end all debate – tv/radio making them talk about the same stuff over and over again for 4 hours on every channel – repeat…

2 weeks to get ready to play, we’ll see if Richt instilled some mental toughness. I hope Faton’s 1st TD pass is a jump pass to the TE on the 3 yd line a la Teebag.

QB play is like putting. 3 putt and it is hard to focus on the next tee. Repeated 3 putts and you start to swing harder on the tee and fairway. Our QB play in the big games against Bama and U10 was multiple 3 putts.
If Bauta can move the ball and maintain a drive, it will be a one putt and the emotional mood changes.

Golf is the ultimate mental game. Lots of good analogies in golf. The most important is that you have to forget about the last shot, the next shot is the only one that matters.

      Like

    • Mayor

Following the golf analogy, Bauta misses 3 foot putts. A golfer, however otherwise talented, cannot score if he misses 3 foot putts. When you have a short throw to a RB or a checkdown receiver, that’s a 3 foot putt. Bauta throws passes just far enough away from the RB of checkdown receiver so that guy can’t catch it, the ball bounces off his outstretched fingers and a DB or LB catches it for an INT. Also, Bauta stares down receivers downfield and has a slow release. The net effect is that the D-Linemen can see what he’s doing and time it so they jump up and bat his passes, also creating an opportunity for a DB to intercept. I can see why CMR and Schotty haven’t played Bauta before. Now they have. I hope they stop.

Today has heartbreak written all over it. The Dawgs are just not good this year. Struggling after 7 games to find a QB, a mediocre OL, subpar WR’s and issues in the secondary yet again. All of these issues and I have not even mentioned special teams which reads like an EKG chart and the disappearing act of Floyd and Carter yet.

I’m worried about the offense. (Obviously, the coaches were too.) We’ve only scored 3 offensive touchdowns in our last 3 games. The offense hasn’t shown signs of life since South Carolina. And Florida definitely has a pulse on defense.

Our defense might be able to keep us in the game, but Florida ain’t Missouri.

It doesn’t seem to be this coaching staffs MO to start a 3rd string qb against one of the best D’s it’s going to play all year. I guess we’ll see soon enough. Hell, what about this year? If FU wins the East (and it sure looks like they will) they have only to beat the West winner and they are in the Playoff. The West is looking a lot weaker right now, too. FU almost beat LSU and LSU is the likely West winner. FU just might win the rematch and I really like their chances against that poser team Ole Piss. Then it is who the 1st round match-up in the playoff is. If it is one of those Big 12 teams that plays no D, I think FU will beat ’em. Then they are in the final–and anything can happen if you make the final.

Yeah..if he missed it he wouldn’t get the 3, but by going for it he gave his team hope. These Dawgs deserve better. t\
Again..kudos to the defense..they played well. That’s about it, though.
CMR, again..kicking a field goal when he’s down 20, is just maddening.

Well I’m not surprised. I think that Gary and Verne kind of nailed it. We didn’t deserve to win and Richt is on the hot seat. Tell us something we didn’t know. We need a coaching change, no ifs ands or buts about it. I think Richt’s time has come and gone. I don’t think if we recruited a team of Ganus’, Walkers, Gurleys, Easons whatever, it’s not gonna happen with the current coaching staff.

I’m tired of Georgia breaking records…for the other team. Most points scored, Most passes, Most tackles, Most rushing yards, Most offense, on and on.

I’m tired of the Aw shucks routine from Richt, only to come back week after week with nothing different, nothing that works, just more crap. If I hear another AW shucks presser with Richt, my head might spin off.

I’m tired of sportscasters using us for examples on what not to do.

I’m tired of these kids being let down by the very coaches that recruit them, I think and really believe that recruiting will suffer this year, if we don’t have a coaching change.

The CBS guys just trashed Richt, big time. Man, they took him to the woodshed.

I’ve got Kentucky and GT tickets. I don’t think we’re going to win any more games this year. But it has to happen. If it doesn’t, there won’t be any changes, again.

Those kids deserve better, and so do we.

I kind of like Verne and Gary just blasting Mark Richt and UGA. They tell it like it is. Gary said that division 2 players would be executing the plays that we were messing up.

I’ve got tickets to the UK game next week. The only reason I’m gonna use them is because I’ve been promising my son all year that we’d go to his first home game and make a weekend trip of it by touring Butts Mehre and meeting Murray on Friday night. If it weren’t for that I’d just give them away and watch half heartedly from my couch.

On a brighter note, that Ganus kid is a warrior. He will play on Sunday’s.

  136. 5 top post game reactions Richt should have.
    1. I finally realize I do not have what it takes anymore.
    2. I apologize to all for thinking I’m a good QB coach.
    3. Even good men can be winners but not me.
    4. The ball does indeed need to bounce your way for a win, but I can never have it bounce my way since 2007.
    5. I’m a man, and I will not longer take the shit on this blog so I quit and you get another HC.
