It turns out the coaches were right about one thing in the preseason: all three of the quarterbacks were about even.

I miss Bobo and his crayons.
I miss good QB play.
I think they go hand in hand
Lol me too
I miss Joe Cox
Crayons? You’re an idiot. Bobo was the best in the business. You’re one who complained all the time when he was breaking records.
You’re flat wrong? I was a Bobo supporter.
You’re an idiot for not having your facts right
Sounded like you were knocking him
Btw what facts are you putting out there that are so obvious?
Turn on your sarcasm meeter. I was quoting a meme about his “crayons”. You’re claim about me was the facts I am referring to. If you’re gonna call someone out, make sure you know what you’re talking about.
I know what I’m talking about. No one knows what you’re talking about. Facts? Whatever. You have said nothing of facts yet. And you still dodge my question.
Are you really that dense? The facts I’m referreing to is your statement of “You’re one who complained all the time when he was breaking records”.
That is factually wrong. Never complained.
I never quoted statistical fact nor claimed to.
Make Pruitt interim.
Problems are much deeper than the QB.
Actually you are soooo very right, BJ. But they are deeper than CMR and Schotty, too. CMR is a symptom–not the disease. The disease is that group of archaic assholes who run B-M which includes the AB and the old geezer alumni behind the scenes. My Brother-in-Law, the Mayor of Tideville, explained to me how Bama turned it around and it wasn’t just by hiring Saban. The Bama administration got rid of those old curmudgeon hangers-on who were secretly behind the decision making about Bama athletics. They actually ran off Gene Stallings even though he won a NC because he wasn’t a “Bama guy” and sent the program into a spiral downward. Saban made it a condition of taking the Bama job that those guys had to go. We have the same problem. We desperately need a complete housecleaning at the B-M and the AB/alumni levels.
Mayor, while this very well may be the problem, the question is how to clean up this mess in B-M. And Richt is a large part of the problem. Unfortunately, Richt is not going anywhere any time soon. We are watching this program return to the days of Donnan, if not worse.
No, no, no, no, no, no, nooooo. Donnan was actually a good coach, at least as far as recruiting and Xs and Os. An asshole, but a good coach. He had about the same winning percentage for his last 4 years in Athens that Richt has. Donnan’s problem was that Georgia’s rivals were also coached by good coaches while Donnan was there and he lost to Auburn, FU, UT and Tech too much. The coaches who were at Auburn, UT and Tech during Richt’s tenure have been pretty bad–hence Georgia’s winning record over them. Guys like SOD, Fishfry, Cheatsatit and Boom. Only FU has had good coaches consistently while CMR has been at Georgia–except for Boom. That is why CMR is 5-10 against FU. Three wins against the incompetent Boom and 1 win each against Zook and Meyer. Hell, Zook wasn’t even a good coach, too. My point is that CMR looks better than he really is because of the lousy competition from our traditional rivals. When they wake up and hire coaches that are first rate (like FU appears to already have done) we will be in a world of hurt.
I left out some of the other bad coaches. Remember Chantastic Gailey? Lou “Granny” Holtz? In spite of the one year rabbit’s foot Gus Malzahn is looking a lot like a bad hire these days. I could go on but……
Mayor, Donnan wasn’t a good coach. He was an upgrade from One Play Away Ray. He was a good recruiter … I will give you that. Also, he was a major league a$$.
’96 – I give him a pass for dealing with the aftermath of the Goff era
’97 – Sure we finished in the top 10, but he pi$$ed away his chance with the face plant at home against Auburn right after beating Florida.
’98 – Started fast with QC and then fell flat on his face losing to UF and tech
’99 – Lost to all of the Big 3 including one of the most embarrassing home losses to Auburn
’00 – Lost to all of the Big 3 again including being down 34-0 to tech at home at halftime. On his tombstone, it will read “I’ve waited 55 years to coach a team like this.”
You just made my point ee. Look at the schedule results. 1997 Donnan was 10-2 with losses against a Fulmer coached UT and a Tuberville coached Auburn, but beat every other team including Wisky in a bowl. 1998 he was 9-3 with losses to 13-0 UT, 10-2 FU and 10-2 Georgia Tech. That season he beat LSU, Ole Miss and Auburn. In 1999 his team finished 8-4 with losses to UT, FU, Auburn and Tech. 2000 was just about the same with the Dawgs finishing 8-4 with losses to South Carolina, FU, Auburn and Tech–all of which had good seasons that year. My point is that Donnan wasn’t a bad coach and IMHO CMR wasn’t really an upgrade over Donnan. Our rivals, particularly Tech, UT and Auburn, made bad HC hires and became easier to beat. That’s why CMR has a good record against them. CMR’s best season was 2002 (13-1) and the whole team was made up of Donnan’s players. I think everything that happened good for Georgia in the early 2000s would still have happened if Donnan was HC. But Donnan was such an ass he almost begged to be fired. Think about it–firing a guy who was 8-4 that year and 40-19 overall? They never would have done that to a popular coach. He got fired because he was a tool–not because he couldn’t coach.
That’s fair, Mayor.
Richt is very much the problem.
Offense and special teams lack intensity, focus, mental, and physical toughness.
Same mistakes on special teams, no on-field leadership on offense, an aloof disengaged head coach, and no life or excitement on the Georgia sideline for the most important game of the year.
None of these are new problems.
Bring in a coach just for the big games. Or rivalry games, or against ranked opponents, or…..hell just make CMR the team pastor and mentor club president to keep the apologist happy and get someone in there who is competent and makes winning at least a top five personal priority
This is the funniest article I’ve read since the Schmocktail disaster. Thanks for the laugh Senator. I actually think the 4th guy is a walk on but hey, what the hell! Try him.
Bauta looks miles ahead of Lambert and Ramsey, though. To make your first start, without any attempt at a running game, with egregiously bad play-calling, I think he did a decent job…unlike the talent evaluation in fall camp.
I agree, let him run more on designed plays.
Other than the 4 turnovers he was awesome.
Well make that 5, but yeah really good showing.
Oh piss off dreck. Piss and vinegar ..bitch and moan. Ya know if you were in my road crew I’d make you walk.
GTP is starting to sound like warts and tits.
Seriously, and you’ d walk too.
Yeah you would.
If I had to be on a road crew I’d hope it would be yours because it appears you tolerate mediocre work.
So I’m taking it that you like to walk. Ok I’d put you in the road too. Happy now?
And I thought only chili would be happy tonight. What are you so rah-rah about? Punt returns?
Happy we blocked an extra point attempt. Highlight of the night
Even with 4 picks, he looks miles ahead of Ramsey and Lambert. He threw a few bad balls, but he threw some good ones that weren’t caught. Three of his picks came off deflections.
I think your definition of “miles” may be different than mine. I think we have three really bad qbs.
4 interceptions. 4.
I thought Bauta looked better or at least as good as the other two as well. But all we’ve heard is that he brings another demension. Wonder if Schotty knows how to take advantage of that. There are no running QB ‘s in the nfl. I’m ready to blow the whole thing up and start over. Always been a Richt supporter, but no more. Time for a change. Don’t care about the recruits. Let them go somewhere else. We won’t win with the anyway. New blood. New ideas. Find a winner. Stop being Lucy and snatching the ball away. Let’s begin again.
Agree a million percent. Georgia should start from scratch. Let’s not delay the inevitable change. Do it now. If Richt does not quit on his own, then Spurrier is more honest than him, and more of a man to admit he no longer what it takes. There is no further reason to support him just for being a Christian person or a good person if he anyway continue to bury the program. So be it.
correction: no longer has what…….
Four interceptions, no TDs, and three points on offense.
No. He is not better than Lambert.
I wont blame Bauta for this debacle. I put it on his head coach.
No clear game plan or logic on offense (Richt’s specialty). If Bauta’s specialty was his mobility, where were the plays to take advantage of it?
Why put the entire game and season solely on his arm? How many passes had he completed in his CAREER?
Two weeks to prepare and Richt mails it in.
I hate this shit.
Doesn’t matter. It ain’t changing.
I came to that conclusion in this game last year. Doesn’t make it any easier though.
I have resorted to apathy and snark. It’s the only way to cope.
Once again in 2015, UGA football lacks the ability to focus and execute.
Meh, who cares? 9-4 is good enough.
$4 million is definitely good enough. Richt is laughing all the way to the bank.
Do we have a 3rd string punter? Give him a shot
Regurgitate, rinse, repeat. Sad. Extra sad living in Gator Country. Extra, extra sad. Tired of this crap. Tired, tired, tired. The more things change, blah, blah, blah. I have to get some stuff done next Saturday. I promise you this, mine will be a more productive Saturday than this offense will have. You can bet on that.
A first year coach with a 2nd team quarterback and a program in disarray. I don’t know what else to say,
Coaching. Good coaching gets the most out of players and leads to wins. Bad coaching, well…………..
Maybe I’ll feel better tomorrow, but I fear the boys have already checked out on the staff, Something clearly left with Coach Bobo and Schotty doesn’t seem to have it in his toolbag. Sigh……
question for the apologists, what part of this sucksss performance is NOT on richt?
I don’t know, I’ve never been in the arena. Maybe he should be fired for not spraying tacky spray on our receivers gloves?
Wow what an ugly game we were flat out beat. You’d think with the talent we recruit every year we’d have just a little more to show for it.
Schotty is the sickness…Richt may lose his job if he sticks with this loser
Especially the way the underthrew the tight end on a sure touchdown. Whata bum!
how much is he paid…what are his qualifications other than his last name…please enlighten me oh mentally challenged one…go to the Illini board and spend time with your fellow idiot yankees
Fuck you asshole. I’m as much a Dawg as any of the rest of you whiny bitches.
you really aren’t…but keep telling yourself that you are…shove your Ilini diploma up your ass…my UGA diploma hangs in my law office bitch
Yea you fuckng twit, my Illini diploma sits right next to my two from Georgia.
Not being sarcastic, but if you really consider yourself to be a Dawg and you have 2 degrees from UGA why do you call yourself “illini84?” Why not “Dawg84” or use whatever year you got one of your Georgia degrees? No snark intended, just asking for a real answer. It appears that your heart is really in Champaign-Urbana not in Athens, GA even if that is where you hang your hat at present.
What’s the difference? The 84 is for the year I moved here. I don’t give a rats ass what anyone else thinks about it and, as a matter of fact, depending on what browser and machine I am on my handle becomes stuckinred. Amazingly word press is used for more than just this blog and the registration name is just a name. Do you think the learned barrister wouldn’t have attacked me because I pointed out that the hated sShotty called the play that I referenced, if my handle was different? Did Shotty not call the plays where Davis dropped passes in the Tennessee and FLA games? Would the outcome have been different if he had caught the ball.
Well, yes. If Davis had caught the pass at the goal line in the last minutes of the UT game, that would have tied the game and Georgia might have won the game in OT. And if Davis hadn’t mis-handled the punt and allowed a ST TD near the beginning of this game the Dawgs wouldn’t have been behind the 8-ball and the entire game might have been played differently from that point on–but probably it wouldn’t have effected the outcome. Thanks for answering my question. I myself have multiple degrees from different universities so I can relate.
I just find it hilarious that someone thinks they can judge the Dawgness of someone else.
You are a jackass and embarrassing your diploma. Well, maybe I’m wrong on second thought. You do have “Dawg” in your handle and I don’t so I likely have no clue what I’m talking about.
You’re back on latrine duty shortpants.
Hey shit head, you leave the game early?
Where’s the Scorp to defend you as “one of the really good guys”?
Oh come shortspants. Judging by your Eewok Avatar you might wanna just op out for latrine duty. And I would not poke Scorp too much if if I was you.
Why, what’s he going to do? What will you do? You are going to call me names and denigrate my service no matter what. Don’t mean nuthin.
It’s a dawg numbnuts.
Ok… it’s a dog dressed up in an Ewok costume then Shortpants… lol. NObody calls you names… and I have not denigrated your service. You might read some of your posts. You’re pretty free with the names yourself. Jeepers…
The hell you haven’t.
Hired the wrong famous last name. Shanahan is 6-1 with the Falcons.
You have beat the Shanahan drum for months. Do you have some inside knowledge that Shanahan was interested in our OC position but was turned down in favor of Schottenheimer? If not, how is this relevant?
The point being we hired a name that pretty failed in the NFL while the Falcons hired one that has turned a team around. I don’t have a crush on Shanahan. Id be happy with John Doe if he didn’t suck at calling plays and apparently coaching up QBs. I just happen to also be a Falcons fan so it’s sadly been made obvious to me that a good hire can make a big difference and as a dawg fan that a bad one can be disastrous.
Questioning Richt’s job security is absolutely worthless. The university is very content with the wins he gets and the money that continues to roll in. He’s also sitting on another great recruiting class.
You have to admit though, Richt is a genius. He hasn’t won a damn thing in a decade but we keep giving him more money. That’s pretty awesome.
For how much longer?
Until the old churchgoing big money donors die off sadly.
Longer than you’d like.
Starting to get nervous are you? Gonna have to buy all new wardrobe when Richt has to find a new job.
I seriously cannot wait until your bitch ass comes on here pitching a fit the day Richt gets canned.
Why do I get the feeling you take this stuff serious?
I can’t wait for you to want coach “x” to get fired because you so damn smart and have all the answers.
Congrats on the win today chili. You put a lot of effort in it and you got what you wanted. Now let us Georgia fans get over your victory in relative peace.
He won’t come on as dikrk….er Derek but as someone else
Because a guy that uses his real name and only his real name is bound to hide behind a moniker at anytime. You really are a bozo ain’t ya?
Sitting on the porch handing out candy. Internet comments and costumes much more interesting than game. Was this ever in doubt?
Grateful that I had to step away and go out with my kids. Otherwise I would be more invested in this groundhog day game.
My wife and I don’t even have kids but we were grateful to be able to spend the second half handing out candy.
Insert Richt postgame excuses_____________________
richt didn’t have to make excuses, that poser dowdle did it for him.
No excuse. No confidence in this staff to field a solid fundamental team. Our window in the east just shut in our faces and gave us a bloody nose. Its time for something different.
Calm down. Derek has assured us that Jacob Park is the missing piece and that national championships will rain down on us once he arrives.
Jacob Park plays special teams and puts together game plans that fit our abilities??? I’m on board baby!!!!
Jacob Park?!? Lol. Niiiice. Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life son.
And you’ve assured us that coach “X” is the savior. At least the guy I’m putting my hope in actually exists.
I can’t stand our whiny expert coach / Olympic level athlete fans. 2017 right or wrong you’ll either get your wish for Richt or a championship, until then shut up root for the G and have a nice day.
And I don’t understand masochists like you who think that’s the only two options.
If you saw Richt’s halftime interview and thought he had anymore clue than the average poster on this board then you are deaf and blind so probably shouldn’t be following football.
Saved in 2017….yeah rightttttt
“…shut up root for the G and have a nice day.”
So you enjoyed the ass whuppin? Kiss the ‘G’ tat on Richt’s a$$ when you see him.
Please tell me y’all understand how bad of coaching job this is. A mobile quarterback who can’t throw and we don’t commit to the read option. It’s the simplest offense to run. i.e. Nick Marshall, this idiot for UF. It’s a long list, I promise. This is indefensible on the coaching staff. And btw we lost the battle on both lines’ of scrimmage. I’m fairly certain they about 8 scholarship offensive lineman. This is the new low. New eyes and energy are needed. UGA is too easy of a job for mediocrity.
Gary “I hate the spread” Danielson was wondering why there weren’t more read option plays. That’s how bad it was.
We were bound and damned determined to make Sony run up the gut. There was zero creativity from the offense.
His best plays were out of the pocket with the threat of the run. We completely abandoned the shotgun run that we ran a thousand times with Lambert at QB. That’s one thing I was worried about with getting an NFL guy. They can’t adjust to the college game. Harris was terrible but every play he made was because he extended the play with his legs. We put in a mobile QB and handed him the Lambert playbook.
Shotty rivals Jancek and Searles as the worst coaching hires of the Richt era..no…he’s the worst
Yeah I’ve come around to this. This is a level of ineptitude that is unacceptable.
You left out lakatos.
The secondary was really good in 2011-2012. One bad year out of four doesn’t make the man a terrible hire… just a terrible evaluator / recruiter.
The secondary had NFL talent in 2012 that excelled in spite of Lakatos instead of because of him.
Earlier in the week when asked who should start for at QB for Georgia the radio guy says, “well, your choices are syphllis, gonorrhea and leprosy. Which do you want?” I had no idea until now just how right he was.
Man that is cold and hilarious
If I had to pick it would be one that was treatable with Procaine G…
Richt will get the 3 Eason years and will either resign or be fired because he WILL fail. He failed miserably during the Stafford/Moreno and the Murray/Gurley years so there is no reason to believe he’ll improve, especially after showing his ass today.
+1000. Murray was a good college QB and people that get paid to follow the NFL are calling Gurley the best RB in the NFL coming off knee surgery and only playing three games. Or AJ Green, Geno Atkins, last years center starting for the patriots and on and on.
Senator, I guess this will officially put the spring game QBR quarterback coaches back under their rocks.
By the way, the 4th string QB is Jacob Eason. I hope to goodness he follows through with his signing. He may be better right now than any quarterback we have on campus.
Truthfully, if I am Jacob Eason’s dad I would NEVER allow my son to go to Georgia the way things are right now: An OL that doesn’t block, a non-existent running game, an OC/QB Coach who can’t coach or call plays effectively and a HC who looks and sounds like he doesn’t have a clue–not to mention Special Teams that put the team behind the 8 ball constantly. Most teams whether HS or college get better as the season progresses. This Georgia Bulldogs team gets worse as the season progresses. Just when you think they have bottomed out they reach a new low. We have 4 games left in the regular season: Kentucky, Auburn, Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech. I think it is probable that this Georgia team will not win another game this season and will not be bowl eligible.
If this team doesn’t win another game, I’ll officially be on the other side of the CMR debate. Losses to GSU and tech back to back would do it for me.
I hope I’m wrong but if you can’t score TDs you can’t beat anybody and I do mean anybody. I’ve seen Auburn play and while they are not very good they will still score at least 14 points no matter how well the D plays. Same with UK and Tech. I don’t see the Georgia O that played in JAX scoring 2 TDs in a game against any major college team unless the other team’s D leaves the field. And Georgia Southern. They must all be salivating in Statesboro. This is their big chance to not only beat but also humiliate the Georgia Bulldogs. And remember–2 years ago they beat FU. It’s going to be a long next 4 weeks.
“Georgia (5-3, 3-3) has now gone back-to-back games without scoring at least 10 points for the first time in 46 years.”
Growing up in the ‘boro, witnessing Erk’s magic in two towns, GSU is due.
I texted my buddies during the game that of season has any sense, he’ll switch his commitment to Michigan tomorrow. And no, of course I don’t want that to happen, but he’d actually have a chance at winning something there.
“Of season” should say “if Eason”.
Actually, it is more likely that he will go to Cal or Stanford with USC a possibility. Frankly, I couldn’t believe he would ever go to Georgia in the first place. The distance from his home to Athens alone makes it unlikely he would ever really attend. Plus, the handwriting is on the wall for CMR. Dollars to doughnuts, even if Eason shows up in Athens, there will be a coaching change at HC before long. One way or the other CMR won’t be his HC very long. So if he is coming because of CMR he’s going to be disappointed.
Fire the OC tonight
Zero touchdowns in eight quarters.
The offense is in shambles.
Turn it over to Lilly.
Find a new offensive line coach in the process.
If you are a recruit would you play in this system.
Up to A D to be bold now about this program.
Time to end the Right era.
At some point recruits are going to start walking. I can’t for the life of me understand why an elite recruit would want to walk into this situation as it is right now. And by the way, I believe it’s actually 9 quarters of zero TDs, but who’s counting?
Nah. They hit the long TD at the beginning of the 4th against Tennessee. So it’s barely not 9 quarters without a TD.
I came here to say this, but Will beat me to it.
Fire Richt. Throw the $$$ to Gary Patterson.
If Richt really loved UGA…he would resign.
He has collected literally TENS of MILLIONS from UGA. He should resign, save UGA the buyout, and assist with an orderly transition to the next HC administration. Thanks, coach. Now, help us move forward.
Guess what? He won’t.
This has too many Mack Brown at Texas parallels (minus two BCS NC appearances).
There’s no way Gary Patterson is coming to Athens.
Richt should do everyone including himself a favor and resign tonight.
You should find a team that you want to win.
I have but they don’t
Hahaha! Good one
See that’s the difference between you and me. Other than that I’m intelligent and you’re a knucklehead, that is. I have a TEAM I want to win. You have an individual you want to win. I’m willing to accept short term pain to get rid of our illness. You refuse to seek treatment because you’re more fond of the illness than the host.
Stop your bullshit. You said you wanted us to lose so that Richt would be fired but I’m the one about one guy? I will find the quote AGAIN if need be. The Internet has a LONG memory. Your desire to lose today will not be allowed to be forgotten.
And your perpetual stupidity will never be forgotten. Go find the quote again you ignorant backwater fuck. I’ll wait. Take the time to clean the drool off your face while you’re at it.
Here it is: “With Florida now firmly in the driver’s seat, part of me almost hopes we have a few more losses in us so the decision is easier at the end of the year. I don’t want to hear “you can’t fire a coach who wins 8 games” at the end of the year.
Probably won’t take much hoping though. This team has 2010 written all over it.”
Derek…making a valid case for eugenics every day.
ok, y’all keep it clean, now.
gators were better at EVERY position and gave more effort. that is on the coaches but i am sure the sunday school lesson will be awesome!
This is bullshit. Jake Ganus, Kimbrough, Mitchell, and many, many other Damn Good Dawgs played outstanding ball. We were not up to the task and I agree that our coaching was not good, but do not impugn the guys that gave great effort with a blanket statement like that.
watch the replay and get back to me on the whole effort thing. dogs laid down like dogs in 4th qtr.!
Man, we might have to switch to the ACC to be competitive again. I really can’t believe how bad we are.
What makes you think we’d be competitive in the ACC? Clemson would wax us. We’d probably make Miami look like a good team and don’t overlook GT.
Stop saying “us” traitor. You ain’t us. You’re a pustule on the ass of a motherless hyena. Or worse a gator fan. We know you were that today. Again congrats on the win now fuck off.
Careful, your tampon is coming out.
If I needed one it would be because I bleed red and black no matter who the coach is. You are a cold blooded gator whose temperature modulates based on your environment. I on the other hand am a warm blooded loyal bulldog. Now again, fuck off Judas. Fuck off Fredo.
The irony in all this is that I actually have a document that says I’m a Bulldog while the closest you’ve ever likely been is some community college. But please, continue with your self-ingratiating delusions. We need a clown around here.
Class of 1992 but nice try:
Here’s your quote traitor:“With Florida now firmly in the driver’s seat, part of me almost hopes we have a few more losses in us so the decision is easier at the end of the year. I don’t want to hear “you can’t fire a coach who wins 8 games” at the end of the year.
Only traitors are the ones who still support this coaching staff
Forget dickheadereck chili you can’t fix stoopid
He’s definitely got the rain man thing going on.
He’s not a traitor for wanting a new head coach. He’s a traitor because he wants us to lose to do it. Again the quote: “With Florida now firmly in the driver’s seat, part of me almost hopes we have a few more losses in us so the decision is easier at the end of the year. I don’t want to hear “you can’t fire a coach who wins 8 games” at the end of the year.
Again, your reading comprehension is sone bad it’s astounding they let you take your helmet off.
You want to lose: “With Florida now firmly in the driver’s seat, part of me almost hopes we have a few more losses in us so the decision is easier at the end of the year. I don’t want to hear “you can’t fire a coach who wins 8 games” at the end of the year.
It will come sooner than you think.
If Right does not go I am totally done with this program.
Right is worthless.
If he was a man, he would get out.
He could care less about UGA.
Please – “He could care less about UGA” should read “He couldn’t care less about UGA.” You obviously are the type that doesn’t know the difference.
And the “Right is worthless” thingy is just you being drunk.
An angry drunk at that. Hope he doesn’t kick his dog.
Hope he doesn’t get in the car and drive.
Actually could not care less is a double negative so I’ve heard English teachers in the past said that could is proper.
Auburn is ready when you are.
Vanderbilt is ready when you are.
Awwww Athens Townie, the clown prince of uga. Where’s the grasshopper pic? That was awesome. Or the black helmet pic? No?
You piss excellence in internetting.
It’s time to clean up the house. Divorce is difficult but sometimes it has to be done.
If you’re an elite recruit, why the hell would you want to join this dumpster fire?
Believe it or not, some of these guys actually choose the “school” they want to play for. If I were a recruit I’d see a lot to like in UGA and Athens. I’m sorry you don’t.
This is a team the is not competitive and has no identity. They get behind and fold. The have no confidence in themselves or, apparently, their coaches. Sad. Frustrating. We all agreed a couple of weeks back that Richt won’t lose his job this year. But we wondered if the Tennessee game would eventually be the one we point to and say ‘that was the beginning of the end.’ I think, increasingly, the answer is yes. Yes it was. Personally I think Shotty is a bust. I’d be okay if we cut him loose tomorrow.
He wasn’t even considered long for the NFL as an OC.
Charlie Weiss thinks you need to keep to yourself.
I’d be ecstatic if they canned Schottenheimer tomorrow. Hell, make him walk back from Jax.
Promote Lilly to Interim OC and at least stop the bleeding.
Personally, I find myself longing for an OC who pulls double duty as the OL coach. With what should be our recruiting clout, a 3-4* QB recruit should look like a 5* behind a competent OL.
No. The one we will point to and say “that was the beginning of the end” is the Bama game.
The 2008 one. (It’s been a long end.)
Yup. I was there and I was so nauseated after the 3rd quarter, I almost threw up. And I did not even have any alcohol in me.
Oh well at least we’ll be in a December bowl game………if we’re lucky.
MR:”we still have goals”.
January 2nd back in Jacksonville.
There’s no way we’re going back to Jacksonville. After our last appearance there, I can’t imagine that the bowl people want us.
The feeling is mutual. I hope we don’t ever go back there after 2016.
Did it seem like nobody much cared that Florida was kicking the shit out of them as the game went on? It was weird. It didn’t have the feel of a divisional elimination game.
Yes. It did feel to me like we became resigned to the outcome. After the first quarter, it felt to me like a game we would only win if it was very low scoring. But I guess our D would have had to pitch a shut out to win this one.
Well….when the offense for a team only scores 3 points the D HAS to pitch a shutout to win. Yes.
It was nice of them to give Ramsey a pass that he promptly overthrew a wide open guy on.
He was only open by a step or two, but it was still there. But nobody else made a play on offense. Why would Ramsey?
Everybody has a-holes and everybody has what they think is expert opinions! Here’s mine: It’s not on Coach Richt for everything the whiners want to whine about! He knows it’s his responsibility to fix it, and if the recruits don’t read this bullshit you whiners are talking about we will have all the pieces that are needed to be where the elite teams are soon. We all want it now but life doesn’t work that way. It takes depth to be able to control both lines of scrimmage and it takes a QB who can hit his receivers, as long as the Offensive line can block for him and the running backs. With Chubb out, our backs can’t break the tackles to extend the plays.
Bottom line is support the team or go away and quit your bellyaching !!!
I hate losing as much as anybody, but you can believe so does the Coaches and Players!
Yeah, Richt is only in his first year. He just needs to get his program in place. Oh, wait.
I support the team not the coaches
Next apologist excuse please
What do you get if you rearrange 5-10 against Florida?
Wrong fingers sticking up. 🙂
Agree. Support the team/players by asking Richt to go away. If recruits like to come without Richt, good for them, if they leave, good for them too. They have their future on the line.
When our dream team top 10 recruiting class lost to another team we should’ve man handled, that day it was Vandy a couple years ago (or Colorado, UCF, I forget), I stopped taking it so serious. Clearly we’re an undercoached team, but my grilled hot wings were bad ass, the beer was cold, and now I’m heading out for a fine dinner with the wife, gonna have sex when we get home, and then I’m going to work tomorrow to get ready for another week of work. Life is grand when you only expect a somewhat mediocre performance on Saturday. To my school, the boys on the field, and life. I salute you!
This I exactly how I feel. This feeling has become so familiar it just doesn’t hurt anymore.
My life insurance rates even went down. 😉
That’s all well and nice, but a bit less of the sex details would be cool too. Good luck with the missus.
Can I ask a question? Why does Tom Brady win with Charlie Weiss and josh McDaniel but our problem is coaching? It’s seem to me that good qbs do well irrespective of the coach and bad qbs do poorly irrespective of their coach. Before you say that it’s belichick, well vinny testaverde didn’t exactly light it up in Cleveland. Our qbs suck. That’s what schotty has to work with. Its no fun but that’s what it is. I know that CMR is supposed to recruit the players but park and Ramsey were not supposed to leave us where we are. Lots of other teams wanted those guys. This is a problem at knew position and its glaring. I can’t make a judgment about anything until I see a competent qb taking snaps. After all schotty coached 11 into 2 incompletions in two games and he’s awful. Terrible. Bauta took his job. Think about it.
It’s also possible that Schottenheimer broke the QB situation and the offense in general. We’ll probably know for sure next year, since what I want to happen won’t this season.
We struggled with noodles and Bobo last year too. It’s not like we lit the world up getting to the belk bowl in 2014. I see the same problem. Shitty qb.
The offense was elite last year, and “noodles” had a fine second half of the season.
Throwing a pick on the last play vs. tech ain’t fine under any definition. He also lost badly to uf in the second half of the season. I did not believe we’d have a worse qb in 2015 than we had in 2014. We do though. It’s not the coaches. It’s the qbs. They are bad.
Oh, so you’re going to be irrational and cherry pick. Go ahead, but I won’t be replying seriously to you again.
That Hutson had a good second half is not a serious response. I won’t miss any response you find serious. You’d might be more accurate by being facetious.
Check what should have been the game winning drive against tech. Completely awesome, and I was thrilled for mason…..until the pooch kick….
So yeah, I will challenge you saying he had a bad day against tech.
The game still ended on a run/pass option. Mason chose to throw. Threw it to the other guys. Probably a bigger error than the kickoff since we lost on that play.
and that proves you are a moron
I agree our talent at QB sux, but Richt had Stafford and wet the bed just like tonight in 08. He’s had all levels of talent and in year 15 he is doing less with less than he did in 09. This program is what it is under him.
At the end of the day, CMR doesn’t believe winning at football is the most important thing in his career. His problem is that he is competing with several coaches that DO believe winning is the most important thing.
Stafford has struggled at Detroit. David Greene never started a nfl game. Neither has Murray. Nor did Shockley. We’ve done pretty good though with the ones worthy of drafting. Look back at it. The ones that can’t get on a nfl roster? We’ve been atrocious.
Stafford has struggled at detroit? You’re such a fucking idiot I don’t know why I bother. He’s struggled sure. THIS year. Fucking hell you’re a moron.
Jacob Park though. He’s going to save us. Go play in traffic, seriously.
Park is transferring back? Stupid is not a big enough word chili.
How many playoff wins does Stafford have?
1000 for Normaltown Mike that is
THREE offensive touchdowns in FOUR games. Yippee.
Grasshopper Mark says, “Aw, shucks. Another cold winter at the Liberty Bowl. Well, at least I’m cashing $4 million dollar checks.”
There’s the grasshopper pic! I was worried since its been almost a whole day without seeing it.
It’s very powerful. A sort of Tom Paine’s Common Sense but for Coach Richt instead of the British.
Agent Shotty is doing his job.
Fuck you fla fan. Who needs you. You’re so brave. Fuck you.
Touche’. Funny but it hurts.
The craziest thing I saw during the broadcast was that this is the first time Georgia has failed to score 10 points in back-to-back games since 1969.
Which means the offense this season is worse than seasons where WRs played QB (and really any of the Donnan or Goff years.)
Put Sam Vaughn in.
+1. See below.
Mark it down: the camera will catch Richt dozing off at some point during the UK game.
We’re not going to win anything this season. That is apparent. None of the QBs we have played so far this season are competent SEC QBs. I say go down the depth chart and give the kids a chance. Nick Robinson was Co-Offensive Player of the Year last year in California with Josh Rosen, who now is the starter at QB for UCLA. Sam Vaughn was a hell of a player in Florida 2 years ago. http://www.georgiadogs.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/sam_vaughn_913376.html What I have seen so far this season not only causes me to doubt Schotty’s and CMR’s coaching skills, I now doubt their evaluation skills as well.
I wasted Halloween with Mark Richt waiting for the great pumpkin! You promised me tricks or treats! What a fool I was! I’ll sue! You owe me restitution! Mark Richt, you blockhead!
Why were y’all waiting for Fulmer? Phillip Fulmer isn’t going to give you a treat, he will eat it himself.
Which was the worst decision, the pooch kick against Tech or kicking the field goal today when you are 20 down and have not scored a TD in over 6 quarters?
That FG was one of the most gutless moves I’ve ever seen. What kind of HC ditches his best shot at a TD and chance to possibly get back in the game to save his sorry ass from a shutout? Richt has a starring roll waiting for him in the next ‘Depends’ diapers commercial.
Well, in fairness when he kicked the FG and then later the team got close to a TD it looked like a smart move. The game would have been a 10 point game with about 10 minutes left at that point. But the INT in the EZ occurred–end of that.
Can’t we all just get along? Seriously, I’m a major Richt supporter, but my instincts tell me, for really the first time, that he may be in serious trouble.
I like him too but I think it’s long past time for him to hang it up. What I find silly is the idea that coaches get blamed when a Junior wide receiver drops balls because they haven’t taught him fundamentals.
Agree there, but also have to agree that we haven’t looked ready to play for the last several weeks. Something is missing; we’re playing seriously bad football. It’s not bad luck or dropped passes.
It’s that untangibles!
Mark Richt is worthless.
Take a look at the decline in the running game in last three SEC play.
Decline in TDs.
Eight defensive players on the line of scrimmage.
Unreal offensive sets.
Have not Richt say one thing about how to get it untracked.
Ten losses in fifteen years of coaching against gators.
Just how long will alums put up with this.
Yes the decline in the running game is inexplicable! There no reason for it!! How many carries did Chubb get today? Not enough! Thanks schotty! Who performed your lobotomy? Same guy that did chilis?
Bauta isn’t the problem. Richt has run the program into a ditch. We have less talent than we all thought. Our coaches aren’t great schematically. We have no mental toughness. It’s time to pull the plug on this thing.
In 15 years, he hasn’t won a National Championship, has only one a few SECs, can’t match ‘Bama, and loses games that he shouldn’t. Get rid of the bum!
Am I describing Richt now? Or Dooley at the same point in his career?
not saying we should or shouldn’t keep the coaches … just throwing some perspective out there
Dooley would never have been so nonchalant about special teams as Richt is.
Dooley never went ten years without a conference title. Trying to compare Richt favorably with Dooley is intellectually dishonest and a thoroughly debunked tactic of the Church of Richt.
Actually, I think that was more a case of comparing Dooley unfavorably to Richt. In year 15, Dooley was in a decade span where, yeah, he won 1 SEC title, but also went 2-5 in bowls. My point is that things look differently if you look at Vince’s record pre-1980. It was good, very good, but I doubt we’d put up a statue on campus if he had retired in ’79.
I’m not in the Church of Richt and I’m not saying we keep him. I think that directional kickoffs was the moment where a change was needed. But I also think that it’s “intellectually dishonest” to 1) talk as if he is one of the worst coaches we’ve had and 2) look at the history of our program with rose-colored glasses.
I’m fine with people calling for change. But some of the rhetoric needs to be toned down. I think we should be honest when we assess where we’ve been and where we are.
Did anyone hear Brian Jones on the CBS post game show ripping CMR? Man he ripped him a new one.
Well if Brian Jones says so I’m all onboard!
You should be. He just said the things that others wee afraid to say..
For the first time in my life since I was 5 years old, I did not watch or even record the game.
Is that the level of apathy BM is shooting for? If so, mission accomplished.
Me too. Don’t even know what units we wore. I checked ESPN for awhile but quit in the disastrous 2nd.
Same here. I haven’t looked at the stats. I don’t know what we looked like.
I’ve finally gotten to the point where I don’t care.
Our program doesn’t care about winning a title. That’s not high on the priority list. So why should I care and be upset?
Thats right blame the players. The coach that just whipped our ass just took basically the same players who had a losing record last year and not only turned them into winners but will have them in the SEC Championship game.
Yeah it is the players fault. The new sunshine pumpers/apologist excuse to keep this coaching staff.
It’s not mutually exclusive.
True, and how much blame goes to whom isn’t always obvious, though well coached players tend to make more plays over time.
Its always the players fault when they lose mike, but Richt gets all of the credit for the wins though
If the UF AD was at UGA would he fire CMR.
Probably would. But the current UGA AD would never entertain the thought. 10 losses to a team the Dawgs must beat to get the SEC never comes across the AD’s mind. Have to see that UF and UT are going to be better…perhaps even USC. But not UGA. Started the season a preason pick to win the East and number 7 in the polls. In less than thirty days they are gone from the picture.
It is not the money, the players, the alums, the fans, the recruiting base, or the players. It is simply Mark Richt. He can no longer get it done. He can not finish the drill. Heck he can not get the Dawgs thru October.
Many think UGA deserves a coach that can change the projectory of Florida’s dominance over us. CMR has had 15 years to do that. He has failed. There are no excuses or explanation.
Time to let him go and to make a change for better or worse becuase it can not stay like it is.
You can say the same of every major SEC program. Richt would have been gone 5-6 years ago if he coached at Auburn, Alabama, Florida, LSU, or Tennessee.
This team is bad. There are no signs of improvement. There is nothing to indicate change will happen. This team is bad. Blame whom you will. I assure you they deserve it. Richt, Shotty, McGarity, Players. They’re all responsible, and they’re all here for the long haul. The bottom line is, this is who we are and who we are is bad. Enjoy!
I’m a long time Richt supporter. I believe he is a great man and has been a great representative of Georgia. I now believe it is time for him to go. I don’t know if the game has passed him by. I don’t know if it is BM. I don’t know if it is poor hiring of coaches. I don’t know if it is his belief in making men out of boys despite on field results. All I know is the on field results don’t line up with the true abilities of this program.
I love the things this man has done for our program and the kids that have come through. But it is time to move on
Very well said. I am hitchhiking on your comment and gracefully bowing out. I have to get to Church in the morning… in the heart of Gator Country… where I’ve been dealing with this since I was 12. I’m 38 by the way. 🙂
a great man! yeah, now the apologist want him gone. Hell, I hope they extend his contract another 10 years just to hear the people of your ilk whine.
I assume your comment was meant for me even though it is not a response. If that is so, exactly where did I whine? Where was I an apologist? Where did I call for more (10 years?) of this?
I said I believe CMR is a great man. That is my belief and one that would be hard to dispute. I then said it is time to move on. So what is your problem with that?
Forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown.
And people fuck with me because of my screen name. STFU indeed.
MOOSEBURGER has declared the Dawgs dead for next year!!
One last thing…
In his first 8 years at Georgia, Mark Richt had a winning record vs top-15 teams (12-10). In the past 7, he’s 5-15. pic.twitter.com/pWwSMW3dqZ
People ask who we would get to replace Richt that would do a better job. Well, Florida has rebuilt their program twice since the last time we won an SECCG so apparently there are good options out there somewhere.
we should all just get some rest tonight, wake up tomorrow morning and take a walk in the woods.
You seen the storm that is coming?
ah, the storm. of course. well, i guess i’ll just have to sit & stare out the window instead….
Thoreau was not a happy man.
A very small child in UGA gear just yelled “TRICK OR TREAT FIRE MARK RICHT” https://twitter.com/SaraKateW
We got plowed.
I think Richt is a great man but in the end the head coach is brought in to win games and this staff is not so for the first time ever I believe it is time to move on. I will still support the team and Richt but for the betterment of the program MAJOR changes are needed.
at least i’m not a mets fan at the moment after that 8th inning tonight.
We should fire Richt and hire Linda Lovelace she may blow a few but, at least she won’t choke on the big ones.
Judging from the tenor of the conversation, one would assume we lost to Florida.
Well we can laugh or cry like John Boehner and I don’t think there is that much Kleenex in the world
“We weren’t elite this game,” said Georgia linebacker Nolan Smith -- The Athletic, 12/4/21
