There’s run-oriented and then there’s run-oriented.

The de-evolution of Georgia’s passing game, in three bites:

  • Passing yards per game, August/September:  233.5
  • Passing yards per game, October:  179.3
  • Passing yards per game, November:  93.5

Yards per attempt have declined by more than half over that time, but November’s passing rating is actually higher than October’s (although no great shakes at 113.91), mainly because there are no interceptions this month.  When you get down to it, that’s probably the way the coaches are judging success throwing the ball right now.

Can’t just looks at games. We need to look at the practice stats too…

The coaches need to look at practice stats but us fans do not.

It was a joke about the McKenzie post yesterday.

Senses of humor are a little delicate in this particular venue at this particular time in the great pantheon of human endeavor. Fans should also ignore injury reports that may, or may not impact practice stats that we should not see.

If you see what I mean. 🙂

speaking of, Chip Towers just said on the radio that when he went back at CMR about benching IM, CMR said “print what you want” which is right on par with arena talk IMHO

Hmm….so senses of humor seem to be ah….squishy? in other areas than here. Guess if I was trying to formulate a plan to deal with two triple option offenses in a row while keeping my defensive line healthy I might be a little testy, too.

My translation, Mike, of Richt’s comment is more…ah….direct?

Love the fake juice from Richt. He gets his shorts in a wad easy and deflects with a snarky attitude. Calling that a “great win” just adds to the idea that he’s tone deaf and feels above criticism from the majority of the fans. I’m down with him being shit-canned if that’s what Morehead decides. He’s had his chances and a long rope.

But, of course, losing Nick Chubb had no effect on quarterback performance, or at least that’s what I have been told.

The worrisome thing is that in the two November games at least, it’s not so much that we’ve been inept at passing–we’re just not attempting it very much. We tried low percentage home runs against Auburn a few times, but mostly we seem to have decided to live or die on the ground. A few more screens and easier throws wouldn’t be such a bad thing. Then again–that early one in the end zone where Lambert threw just behind the receiver was an easier throw, and he couldn’t make it.

I guess that’s why the most attention grabbing thing this weekend was Richt having breakfast with a high school quarterback in Washington state?

Knowing how much Richt loves the long ball, I can’t imagine him keeping Schottenheimer around next year, but something tells me he will. If this was a new, first-time OC, I could understand Richt trying to mentor the guy, but with a pro OC making close to a mil per year, it’s time to pull the plug on this guy. Maybe Schotty jumps first, but then I can’t imagine who would want him given this season.

I have little doubt somebody in the nfl would give Schotty a job, maybe even as OC. Shanahan, Koetter, Mularkey, Whisenhunt, Gailey, McDaniels, Trestman, Shula, etc., etc. – once you get on the merry-go-round you’re in for life it seems.

Its even worse than those stats. Just think. Ga Tech has 13 TD’s through the air, we have 11. How does that happen?

We can’t throw the ball and we can’t get one yard on the ground when we need it.

Hope they get a Jan bowl game with that decline in stats a Dec bowl game might have -34 rating, maybe next year the stats will be better.

Just out of curiosity, is the complaining about the performance of the OC worse now than it was the first couple of years with Bob as OC?

I tend to ignore much of that , so I don’t remember.
