… but Georgia’s offense blows chunks.

Yep. Not convinced we beat a weak Tech, either. Not by a long shot
I think GSU could beat Tech. A win is a win is a win.
The Goal is still another ten win season.
Shouldn’t the goal be to win something of consequence? Are we now South Carolina where we hang our hats on ten win seasons rather than winning championships?
Will losing to Tech change the results of the Alabama, Tennessee and Florida games? No. So why does it help UGA to lose to Tech?
I sure as hell won’t be pulling for Yech. Hope we beat their asses. But if we beat the most mediocre team turkey neck has fielded does that say much about this season?
The book on games 1 through 11 has been written and I have read it. Why do you want me to read it again? The result of the Tech game will not change the Alabama, UT or UF results. Why can’t you let us just look forward to beating Tech and let us enjoy the win afterwards?
Our OLine looks like world beaters compared to Tech’s.
You realize Ga Southern may have been best team we have beat all year. We won 2 other cupcake schools and our SEC wins are against teams a combined 8-27 in the SEC.
Who cares how many wins we have against inferior teams? if we had played in the west we would have beaten Auburn and no one else and probably be 4-7 and no bowl. Who cares about 10 wins if all we do is barely win games against awful teams. I would have rather be Arkansas this year and at least have a few wins against big teams even if we take a few losses we shouldn’t. UGA under CMR has proven it doesn’t compete at the top level and likely never will.
I care. Sometimes your team isn’t so good, and those are the seasons you should welcome every single win. You’d have had a lot more fun this season if you’d come to grips that Georgia sucks this year. 8-3 against inferior teams or not is freaking amazing with this abysmal offense.
We’ll beat ’em. This is our field.
I’ve dealt with the fact that Richt gets another year at least but if Schitty is back and the o-line coach for that matter I won’t just be mainlining heroin. I’ll be going full Belushi and hitting the speedball.
Probably be good riddance for Ga football if you do.
Yeah. Because embracing mediocrity is the Georgia way. Ready to hand out that lifetime contract for MR?
You guys don’t know the meaning of the word “mediocrity” if you think 7 AP top 10 finishes in 14 seasons qualifies just like you guys had no concept of what bad offense was like when you wanted to run Mike Bobo out of town on a rail for scoring 40 points a game. And no I don’t care if you say you in particular weren’t one of the Bobo bashers that’s a popular line nowadays you are 90 percent the same people.
Just looked mediocre up in the dictionary and there was a picture of richt
Why is being glad we win “embracing mediocrity?” Gosh, by contrast wanting us to lose is “seeking mediocrity .”
I am not the AD or the university president of a member of the Athletic board. I do not hand out contracts. I am an alum, a fan and a season ticket holder who hates it when we lose and is joyous when we win. I was at all 3 losses and believe me, I enjoyed last night’s imperfect win a whole lot better than I would have if we have lost, despite your pissing and moaning.
Solongenheimer, Goodbyeenheimer, Aufwiedersehenheimer, Adieuenheimer, Schottenheimer.
I picked a bad week to quit sniffin’ glue.
Now you are just ripping me off after I ripped off a movie 🙂
Sure this is a “best of both worlds” type result. We didn’t actually suffer an embarrassing loss to a cupcake that would sully our lifetime record.
But this HAD to be the final indicator that massive change is needed. Not just fire a few coordinators/assistants. We need a complete philosophy change in the entire program.
I don’t want Pruitt going anywhere.
Nah. Because MR is a good man and that’s more important to a lot of our fan base than winning. He gets at least another year because of Eason. As if a true freshman behind a shitty line with a guy who only has a job because of his last name will turn the program around.
How many times tonight do you have to type the same commen? We get it.
And how many times will you stick up for a mediocre coach bc you think he’s a “good guy”?
And how many times do you have to repeat that MR is a great guy and that if it wasn’t for bad fans commenting on a random blog is killing recruiting and that’s why captain milquetoast is so mediocre?
I can probably count on 1 hand the number of “keep Richt because he is a great guy ” posts, and I cannot remember any by Debbie Balcer.
You, on the other hand, are the type goes on and on. When you order breakfast at the Waffle House to you tell the waitress that you want Richt fired along with the omelet?
Not sure I would call Southern a cupcake but it obviously shouldn’t take overtime to beat them. It’s cute that you think this University is going to implement wholesale change while the $$$ is still rolling in and we’re winning more than 8 games. UGA isn’t about winning championships. It’s time we get a better perspective on this and set our expectations at the appropriate level.
..or change the expectation of the program to the appropriate level.
Yup. Money can’t necessarily buy you results; that comes from committment.
Anyone see the Fla or USCe games today.
UF won in OT too, and will be in the title game…
With a team that talent-wise isn’t as good as Georgia’s.
Yeah, I don’t know about that.
They have an excellent front 7, the best corner in the country, good LBs, etc. They had a good QB until he got popped for PEDs. Their patchwork OL is outperforming ours and they are able to find ways to score because they have some pretty good offensive coaches.
I’m not saying they’re incredible or anything, but they do have a whole lot of talent, especially on defense.
Adam, I think you and I are saying pretty much the same thing. Yes, their patchwork offensive line is outperforming our O-Line which is made up of 4 returning starters 2 of which were pre-season All-SEC. Their PED QB ain’t playin’ any more and their current QB is below Lambert on the talent meter. BTW, someone please explain to me why they don’t have to forfeit the 6 games they won with their performance enhanced QB? They do have a whole lot of talent on defense but Georgia’s D is actually pretty good too and I see the defenses as a wash. Finally, I totally agree that they find ways to score “because they have some pretty good offensive coaches.” That was the point of my post.
We’re not too far apart. I was pretty tired when I posted that. Long/day night.
That’s just not true. Our offense and their offense are about equal, but their defense has better players at every position except OLB. Muschamp brought in (arguably) the top defensive classes in 2012 & 2013.
Georgia has more experience and talent on offense. That they have horribly underperformed is among the reasons most people aren’t happy with the season. Florida’s secondary is much better than Georgia’s, while Georgia’s a touch better in the front seven. Basically, losing to that team 27-3 with Harris at QB was nearly as monumental a coaching failure as last year’s meltdown in Jacksonville.
“Georgia has more experience and talent on offense” – outside of MMitchell & Sony, I struggle to see where we are more talented (with Chubb playing, of course we are better). Their tight-end has been more productive and they have 3 good receivers to our MMitchell (Godwin is serviceable this year, but he’s not better than any of their guys yet).
I’m with you on the UF game, I couldn’t believe Schotty fumbled that punt on the goal line and gave them an easy 7. Sure, our best running-back/player broke his hand on the first play (missing nearly all the first half and then marginalized for the rest of the game), but then Richt throws 4 interceptions! That game was totally on the coaches.
Snark aside, I’d really love to hear from the coaches what the offensive game plan was for UF. My guess is Sony was the linchpin, not Bauta. When Sony went down, the plan went to sh*t.
You’re right. Coaching has nothing to do with how players perform in games.
Coaches can’t fumble the ball or throw interceptions, no. They can only put the players they choose in the plays they call. Take last night, McKenzie & Mitchell fumbles and the points they cost are on them, not the coaches. Those swings were the difference in a ho-hum win vs a nail-biter. Did Schotty call a sh*tty game? Maybe, it definitely wasn’t brilliant, but it also wasn’t why the game was close.
So you’re saying you don’t like shotgun formation runs up the middle for 2 yards?
Who’s missing Bobo now, bitches? He’s laughing all the way to the local dispensary. Tech light just about pantsed us, at home, on senior night, at night (emphasis). This wasn’t week 1 at noon. I can’t begin to understand how impotent our offense is.
Schitty should be doing Viagra commercials. Hopefully as he is no longer employed by UGA.
You can’t? Do you not watch Lambert throw balls at ankles?
Still not missing Bobo, the offense is where I thought it would be without Gurley last year, but Chub was a nice surprise.
Bobo only thrived with great RB play.
Which feeds in to my question to Ben. Where has the OLine run blocking disappeared to? With all the returning starters I can only surmise that the switch to “zone blocking” has negatively affected them. But, true, this is just a general observation.
True it is a general observation but only three changes from last year: 1) new scheme 2) new OL coach 3) new center. Either one of those or a combo of them.
The “zone blocking” appears to be just that–blocking a zone on the field. The Georgia O-Linemen block a zone and the defenders just run around that zone to the RB or QB, as the case may be.
Brilliant! I’m pretty sure that I could get to the qb in my underwear with whatever they call this blocking operation.
You can’t be serious. Bobo scored with anybody and everybody. Joe cox threw 24 TDs, and we had king and ealey at running back. Bobo managed to score with Douglas and green at RB in 2013. We broke school records…yearly. We’ve been playing football since 1892. School records…yearly.
Bobo never had to call a game with a qb this bad. He skipped a ball on third down to 16. The biggest play of he game 3rd and 4 and he misses a wide open 26. He chucked a ball across his body into the middle of the field to no one in particular in the rz. He ate the ball and took sacks that he should not have taken. He’s awful. Horrific. Atrocious. Everybody we’ve played since Alabama (save uf obviously) has loaded up on the run and flat dared 11 to make a play. He can’t. He’s awful. Blaming schotty for lambert is silly. Nobody could make that guy even mediocre. If he was a horse, they’d send him to the glue factory.
You are tougher on Lambert than you will be after reviewing the game. He was on early and his throws were there, some were caught and some weren’t for various reasons. He threw it away a few times on purpose. You can look at the low throw as being on purpose with two guys waiting to intercept.
Can’t believe you took the knee-jerk route on this game. You are much better than this. Just look closely on the replay of this game. There was good and there was bad. We don’t need to emphasis the bad over emphasizing the good.
Wait…you don’t want to blame the players (or as with above, one player) for everything wrong with the program??
Would you rather blame millionaire coaches who are responsible for (a) getting players ready to win, (b) scheming around the talent they have, and/or (c) recruiting and developing players to build depth in case some of them don’t work out?
It’s so much easier to just throw a few amateur college players under the bus, like the Dereks of the world. But that requires a short memory. It requires forgetting what the coaches were responsible for doing in the years leading up to this point.
“Bobo never had to call a game with a qb this bad. ”
Um, remember Joe T?
Who brought in Lambert??
Lambert is Schotty’s guy. Not sure how Schotty gets a pass on Lambert’s play.
That’s not really fair. Schott didn’t recruit him out of high school and have a year or two to coach him up, so saying he’s his “guy” is a stretch, IMO. Schotty can still suck, no argument there, but none of these QBs or this team are his “guys”…yet
I know one thing:
This is Richt’s program.
Insult to blows chunks. God that was awful.
But a w.
Fare thee well Keith. Seems worlds ago that I saw you windmilling your way through UT defenders as as freshman, and since that A.Murray wore that “Keep Calm We’ve Got Gurshall” t-shirt.
Will miss these seniors, but they God will I be glad to put this offense behind me.
Senior night and he didn’t even get any carries.
He has decided to not play anymore this year. Injury risk to big right now.
^^I think this is probably right.
Mediocre rb anyway. Best of luck at the next level.
I’m sure you would say that to his face. He was damn good before his injury in Knoxville. Keith Marshall is a DGD both on and off the field.
Are you really that stupid? Or just a sock puppet?
That is complete bullshit.
Keith Marshall is injured right now.
Jake Rowe (beat reporter): “Can say with 100 percent confidence that Marshall is injured and not out for any other reason. It was painful to watch him run at practice on Tuesday and I reported as much at the time.”
GASouthern had 233 rushing yards … a full 150 yards less than their per-game average, and much of that yardage came on ridiculous broken plays.
Our defense gave up 10 points to an offense averaging 38ppg.
Our offense is still terrible…but let’s not miss what’s good.
Yeah but apparently said DC doesn’t fit in with the kumbaya that is the Georgia coaching staff. Guess he’s not in MR’s Sunday school class.
You listen to Francis Tarkenton too much
I think everyone knows the mission you and your group of haters are on but regardless of how sad that is, this comment sinks the campaign to a new low. Religion, seriously? You think religion is a legit point to make? If so, that is pathetic thinking, or just desperation as you grab for anything to throw at the man. It is late, maybe you are wasted on some mind altering drug, you cannot be that stupid on your own.
I have spoken to several people who want a change but none, not one, ever came up with a thought that was that far off base, or so irrelevant to the subject.
Hope that scotch is doing you well. And I’ve heard plenty of MR homers point to him being a good Christian man. Btw booze is a very mind altering drug. Drink some water before you pass out. Helps with the hangover. :).
He happens to be a good Christian man but his choice of belief/faith isn’t relevant to the discussion. You injected that into the conversation because of some issue you seem to have (just like some here inject politics into football discussions). You can be a good man whether you are Christian, or not. No one has suggested this as a reason for hiring, or keeping, Richt. I know good people who are not Christian, and I know some who are Christians that are not good. It is enough to say he is a man of good character and integrity, which is something that should be considered, where he goes to worship, or even if he goes to worship, is something that should not be brought up as a reason for voting yea, or nay. It just shows how small you really are, and why you lack credibility.
Geez, Mac, why get into it with that punk? His name is Scott David. He’s used to getting his ass beat. You’re not going to rattle him. He’s figured out that people will “take him seriously” on here and he tells his step dad that he has friends. Please, leave him alone…
Lol. I’ll let you two get back to your circle jerk. It’s amusing that my internet handle gives you such insight into my life. Btw. I’m pushing 40 and have no step parents and plenty of friends. Seems like you might be projecting a bit. And if you think you can beat my ass I’d be happy to set up a meeting. I’m guessing you’re a big man behind the keyboard but not so much in person. But good luck with allying yourself with a drunk and I wish you more pleasure in mediocrity. :).
Kid, you are still looking at the underside of 20. Who are you kidding? Read your words again and you might be able to see where they betray your protests.
Actually I’m 38. Which is why I find it so amazing that anyone older than me doesn’t want to actually win something of consequence within their lifetime.
I get not responding to the foolishness of the hater group, but he crossed a line on this one. I don’t care about his opinions on who should coach, but bringing but bringing irrelevant, personal matters into play is off limits to me. The Dip had to reach deep to come up with something he thought would reach out to someone to join his little band, but it backfires on him as his pettiness is further revealed. There is a difference between being 38,and acting like an adult. He can lie to others about sincerity but he knows when he looks in that mirror that this is personal to him and why he is so over the top.
I’d like to have a coach with Saban’s level of religious beliefs.
And I’d also like one who feel “relieved” after every win, as if he doesn’t really expect to ever win. Pretty much sums up the problem.
That sounded terrible to me too. Excited for the seniors. Proud that the players excuted the game plan. Even if you are relieved…don’t say that shit to the media.
And the sad part is the Georgia way dictates that Pruitt will leave and Shittenheimer will somehow keep his job. If I’m Eason I’m starting to worry about my O-line and my OC. I feel bad for the kid. He is walking into a mess.
Our defense was pretty solid.
Say Dukes, I agree the D has clearly been impressive (I especially like Kimbrough).
But since I know you to be an ex-OL guy, to what do you chalk up the run blocking woes this season. Is it as simple as a shift to zone from man blocking? This has been maddening.
Ben, right on, sir. The defense played like their collective hair was on fire. GSU made about 2 plays the entire game. I think 70 of those yards came on those two plays. Davin Bellamy had a huge sack as well as Jenkins and Floyd’s dominance.
If our QB play was even OK, we beat them senseless. We lost the turnover battle, missed a field goal and still won.
Hey baby, we won. Beat Tech.
Our D is solid, ten points to a prolific GS offense. Not sure our pathetic offense can score on a Tech team that just got boat raced by mediocre Miami team.
Hey it could be worse. You could have Florida’s offense.
Or we could’ve just lost to the Citadel like the cocks. Talk about your dumpster fire…
There record sure is better
I think I’d take it. But then again, it will be interesting to see if UF can keep the SECC closer than 28 points. (I’m thinking that Gatah D can bow up enuff)
Florida State is going to take care of Florida, and Alabama is going to destroy them.
That’s what I’m sayin’. FSU might be close, but Bama takes it to them.
How is that worse?
I think they whipped us and will be in title game.
Lambert is garbage, and Schotty lives up to his nickname
I have reached a new level. Walking out of the stadium tonight, and for most of the game for that matter, I felt nothing. Typically there is joy, frustration, excitement, disappointment or anger. Tonight there was nothing. I attended a Georgia football game and the bright spot was the Uga collar transfer. How do we put hope back into this program?
There was joy all around the stadium when we left. Hope is found when you look for it.
Kinda makes you wonder which stands he walked out of, eh Debby?
The stadium was full and loud when we left. It was a bottleneck getting out. The students were awesome. The band played in stands after the game like they did last year. Every one in red and black had a smile on their face. The folks in blue looked shell shocked.
The Collar transfer, the lone trumpeter, the crowd’s acknowledgement of some standouts seniors, Devon Gayles, the Eagle came in the row behind me for a close up look. These were my highlights. Other than those, I too felt strangely disconnected. I note that we did not once do the Georgia-Bulldogs cheer.
I am sincerely sorry you felt nothing leaving the stadium. I sure felt joyful. No, that doesn’t mean it was a “great win” against a legendary opponent, but I enjoyed yelling, “It’s Great to be a Bulldog on Saturday Night ” on the walk back to the car.
I can honestly say that I have never seen a team like ours in the conference. We are woefully inept in so many areas and are 5-3 in conference and 8-3 overall. It’s just uncanny. The one thing I will say is that the kids never quit. It is not an effort problem. I don’t see where we take a giant leap next year. We were down to two running backs and I was glad not to have to watch Hicks try a tailback sweep. I saw Turman dressed out. Does anyone know what in the hell he did to piss of the coaches? We need a 3rd back. Where has Blazevich gone?
Argie, I have never seen a team like this Georgia squad ever, at any level–HS, college, semi-pro, NFL….never. To play this poorly on offense and, as you put it, be so “woefully inept,” and yet be 8-3 with the likelihood of being 9-3 in another week is literally a miracle. Call me crazy but I am beginning to believe that this year’s Georgia team may be Mark Richt’s greatest coaching job. Eking out win after win by the barest of margins over sorry to mediocre teams while also getting blown out every time the they play a good team he is literally making chicken salad out of chicken sh!t. If this team gets to 10 wins with the offense it has………..(you fill in the blank).
Do you really not think the local pee wee coach in Decatur could win 10 games with this schedule?
Good point, anon. Before the season this looked like a moderately hard schedule but several of the teams that looked formidable which the Dawgs have beaten have been exposed as busts. Who would have thought that South Carolina would be so bad that SOS would quit mid-season and the chickens would lose to the Citadel at home? I remember thinking when Georgia beat South Carolina this year that meant the Dawgs were for real. Mizzou, the defending East champs, are now the worst team in the SEC. Basically, the only teams the Dawgs have beaten were the cupcakes and the lousiest SEC East teams. Any team they have played that is even approaching good has beaten the Dawgs. Georgia’s best win this year is Georgia Southern.
The problem that several have here is that they can’t amend “cupcake” in their minds. Yep, the SEC East teams weren’t up to their usual par, but labels placed on teams by our football-comparison egos isn’t relative sometimes when the payee games roll up late in the season.
GSU is a good team that plays their heart out, not a “cupcake”. Get that through your skulls and veer to the advanced-warning section of our schedule and read it from time to time. The importance of what happened last night in some minds happened inside some game perception heads that haven’t changed as the season got tougher. You only end up not enjoying last night’s game for what it was – a win over a good team. Some of you just want to keep the unmodified “cupcake” label to suit your poor vision for coaches. As I recall, some of you were the very ones calling for Bobo’s head by shouting louder than reasoning heads. You are the same ones who don’t want to acknowledge we have a new O Coach , new Center and line plus playing the most freshmen in the country. Things have a chance to get better in a milieu that doesn’t have the Jumping Frogs of Calaveras County protesting en masse.
Sorry, Cujo. I did not mean to lump GSU in with the other “cupcakes.” When that game was scheduled GSU was a D-IAA team and was intended to be a cupcake by the UGA AD’s office. Turns out GSU is now a D-IA team and is pretty damn good. GSU (now 7-3 and defending Sunbelt Conference Champion) probably is the best win Georgia had this season and likely would have beaten every team that Georgia has beaten this season–including Auburn (the bottom team in the SEC West). I know that if I coach at Vandy or UK or this year’s version of Mizzou I sure wouldn’t want the Eagles coming to play my team.
I do not belive the local.pee wee coach anywhere can coach a college team better than any of the 125 FBS head coaches.
You, sir, have not watched Kansas play this season, I take it. 🙂
So, does our offense suck because the playcalling is bad, or because the QB play is terrible?
I say yes.
Russ, it’s both and throw in poor offensive line play for most of the season. This is what you get.
That’s what Russ was saying also. Kind of like the old joke: blondes or brunettes? Yes.
Yep – well played
Ugly wins still count. Just ask UF.
That win was a two-bagger.
Lambert, Shotty and Sales should enjoy Shreveport while they can.
Tinhorn, not tin horn.
can Leonard Floyd play quarterback?
Floyd was all over the place last night. I think he played like last night was his Senior Night. Jordan Jenkins played a big game on Senior Night. Jake Ganus played from sideline to sideline like his hair was on fire. Kimbrough was absolutely the thumper in the middle of the field. If the 4 of them play the option like that on Saturday, I think we’ll be very happy with the outcome.
This game was exactly what I thought it would be. We had opportunities to blow the game wide open in the 1st half and didn’t do it when Mitchell fumbled. We gave them a TD on the scoop and score off McKenzie’s fumble (he needs to learn to carry the ball in his outside arm on that jet sweep). We sputtered on offense and then missed a FG after Brice Ramsey’s beautiful punt that got killed on the 1.
Ugly win, but a win … that zone play to Michel (the one he scored on) was there all night long instead of the run from the shotgun. I don’t know why we didn’t stay with it.
This offense isn’t going to put anyone away, much less a team as good as Southern. You best be happy with the gift on the dropped punt.
That’s true. It’s the one time we took advantage of field position. In the 1st half, we were moving the ball with ease. After we squandered the field position after Ramsey’s punt, we didn’t do anything. In the 2nd half, we hit a couple of passes to get into scoring position. Then, Lambert and Michel run into each other (and right into a blitz) – Boom, behind the chains, punt …
Your realistic two posts here are spot on including implied criticism. Thanks for not going over the top and criticizing meaningfully by not trying to get into the personnel/coach evaluation area.
Thanks, Cojones. I try to keep my posts to realistic evaluation. I would love to have a beer while you enjoy a brownie and talk some football.
The OC should have been fired at halftime….of the UF game. He is beyond terrible.
Les Miles has Cam Cameron. $15 million buyout.
Many think Miles is gone after the beat down by a very good Ole Miles.
Mark Richt. Has Shotty. Shotty was seen in Publix at the dead fish isle looking into the eyes of the cold fishes. Sign above cooler says ” that is your offense, Shotty.”.
Absent Pruitt Dawgs would have lost to Georgia Southern.
Coaching staff changes have to come. The OC has to go.
Did anyone see the Baylor-Ok St game? Baylor won with a 3rd string QB.playing against an undefeated team. They were running the ball a lot and the QB did have a bad INT but they still flung the ball downfield. Did anyone noticed that the UGA WR rarely get any separation from the DB’s? Not only is the QB play bad but the WR play leaves a lot to be desired. Of course they need someone that can get the ball to them.
Not only do we need another OC but a WR coach too.
It seemed to me that UGA OC coached like he feared his own offense as much as he did Ga Southern’s defense. Kept it as simple as possible, hoping they didn’t throw the ball to the other team. Like others I’m stunned at Dawgs o-line play. Looking back it will seem nearly miraculous for a team getting whipped so often on its offensive front to win this many games……
