Okay, so the drumbeat closing out the Les Miles’ era at LSU grows ever louder.
But don’t worry, LSU fans. Your savior is near at hand.
Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher is the main target for many foundation members. Other names tossed around include Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney, TCU head coach Gary Patterson and even former NFL coach Jon Gruden. [Emphasis added.]
If Gruden could charge something for every time his name is brought up by a fan base looking for a new coach, he’d be the richest man in America.
If true, I wouldn’t want Miles to land at South Carolina.

i dunno. in state talent has been Les’ saving grace at LSU. USCe is significantly lacking in that regard

If he is going to be forced out, and I do not think that is really such a rational thing to do in these circumstances, it would be better to do it now than announce a “farewell tour” and leave at the end of 2016 like was discussed in the linked article.

I wish anyone other than UGA would hire Gruden. What a colossal mistake that would be; been wishing Tennessee would be dumb enough to do it for years.

It would be hilarious if Gruden went to LSU. The Tennessee meltdowns would be epic.

The same list of coaches that are mentioned to replace Richt.
In my opinion Richt deserves at least 1 more year: Get it done or be gone?

Suggesting Gruden as a replacement for Richt is a bannable offense at GTP.
I keed, I keed… I think.

It appears that anything and everything has become a bannable offense at GTP lately. 🙂

Really? Other than one very persistent troll, who’s been banned?

Maybe not bans, but Senator, really, how many “All right, God damn it, if you guys keep doing that shit I’m pulling the car over and whipping everybody’s asses!” moments have you had the last few games? That’s not even a bad thing, just an observation from a mostly-lurker.

That would be two. And both were deserved.
Really, if nobody wants to hear that from me, there’s a pretty obvious solution.

I certainly do not agree with everything you, or anyone else says on here, but dammit I appreciate it.. Aside from the unimaginative troll (probably lonely Thomas Brown) there is, imo , very engaging dialogue in here, which is only found in very few other places on the web. Don’t be like our country and let the (extremely) loud minorites ruin a good thing we got going here.

I hate to be negative but one more year is just going to be the same ole same ole. Does anyone really think Mark will have an epiphany fire Schoty get an OC start a freshman QB and do better than he’s doing now? It’s time to pull the bandaid off as painful as it’ll be.
We will survive let’s all move on and get a fresh start. If the ultimatum is win or your gone Mark will be even more conservative than he is now. We need a guy willing to go all in and take risks, coach up the kids, watch some film,& come up with winning game plan’s not just tit for tat. We need someone with the fire in their eyes for a National Championship I just don’t see not does Mark exhibit that and to be frank he’s not had it for a few years now

Next year could have a similar record as this year and we could look totally different. If the offense moves the ball but we suffer freshman mistakes, I can take that. Plus, if we play hard and just lose, I can take that. I can’t take these timid performances by the offense like this year. Plus we have to improve through the season rather than regress like this year.

Really! I am sure you hate to be negative, never seen you post anything but. Let’s be honest who do you pull for?

I’m not expecting much out of 2016 either. 3 losses sounds about right. The defense loses some stars, but I think we’ll still be solid. I expect Eason to struggle as a true frosh and there’s no answers on the O-line that I see. To me, 2017 is the do or die year for CMR.

I can give you 8 million reasons why that will not happen….

Doh! I figured Gruden would be our next OC. Oh well, on to the next candidate, Hal Mumme.

LSU would be crazy to let Miles go.

LSU’s problem is the same as Auburn’s problem. They play in the West. Playing Bama every year exposes a coach’s weaknesses pretty quickly, and even good coaches have a hard time keeping up. Miles has fallen behind Saban, not to mention the other quality coaches that have beaten him. Think about this. LSU beat UF, the best team in the East. If Miles were in our division, he would be playing in ATL.

LSU’s problem is similar to ours in that they also have no effective QB. Though there’s is better than ours.

Let’s play the speculation game. If Miles gets the ax after the last regular season game who hires him? Remember Miles is a yankee and also has coached in the mid-west. Personally, I think he’s a good fit at Missouri. So that’s my pick.

Mayor, that’s a pretty good insight there.

Why would Dabo or Fisher ever leave their programs? Literally only have to worry about [Clemson or FSU] and they play in ACC champ game with inside streak to playoff. Both can recruit well with solid facilities and fan bases. One won a natty in the past two years and the other is ranked No. 1 right now. Both are gods at their school right now.
Or they can leave and come play Bama and Florida every year and get fired if they have a 3 loss season.
BUT SEC!!!!

Does anybody else think Larry Fedora is about to double his salary? All he’s got to do is beat NC State, lose respectfully to Clemson, then win a bowl game and he’ll jump from $2 million to $4 million. This off-season is going to be outrageous.
