Another one moving on

This one’s not exactly a shocker.

Kid’s a damned good Dawg who got put in a tough spot (that he wanted, admittedly).  Best of luck wherever you land, Faton.

I actually am kind of surprised. There is now even odds we aren’t getting the hotshot QB this year. Is he so sure he couldn’t beat Lambert in a new offense?

While I still believe Richt needed to, I’d be absolutely shocked in Eason signs with UGA at this point and it has nothing to do with his fear of competition. Especially after reading the SDS article and seeing the photo of him in UF gear. Not sure he’ll even take an official to Athens this weekend as there’s really nothing to tell him unless we announce Kirby and his offensive staff before Saturday. With early enrollment just around the corner, he may never set foot on campus again. We definitely need to sign 2 QBs this year and one of them needs to be flipping a highly rated QB.

And I also wish Baton all the best. He was a DGD and hope things work out for him in life far beyond college.

Calm down buddy. You can find pictures of all of our recruits in other teams gear during their visits.

I’ll be fine either way. Unless it’s my kid, a 19 yr. old’s decision doesn’t upset me one way or the other. My point was that if you’re scheduled to start a new job in 2-3 weeks and suddenly you don’t know who your boss will be, what’s expected of you in the job and who will be their to support and help you succeed in the job, are you going to take that new job….probably not. I hope he does stick with us, but can’t blame him if there’s a change.

        • I agree with you, but still the lure of South Beach for a young man. Once NCAA clears Richt’s hire at Miami, I won’t be surprised if Eason does not pay sunny South Beach a visit. I heard sunny days are so rare in the Northwest. And the kid really need a little color in his skin say ala Richt’s tan. LOL.

He isn’t visiting Athens this weekend, but he will be at the GALA next weekend, along with his parents, Coach Smart, and the new OC.

The Florida visit was all about having a backup plan in case we hire an OC that is going to implement a system that they don’t like. Which, by the way, is not only their right but the only smart thing to do.

In the end, he’s a Dawg.

Anything is possible of course, but the dead period begins Dec 14 and ends Jan 13, after Eason has enrolled somewhere. Richt cannot contact Eason after the dead period begins, but Kirby can because Eason has signed the financial aid agreement with UGA. Kids can’t sign multiple ones anymore. So if Richt is going to get Eason to switch commitments, he has a week and a half. I think Eason loves UGA enough to wait and see who Kirby’s OC is going to be, which we won’t know until next week. I think he stays with UGA, but I also think we will know sooner than later if that is the case.

    • Y’all need to chill over this Eason business. I stopped following recruiting awhile ago because it’s a silly business built around sensationalism, but y’all need to realize that all of our recruits ate taking visits and wearing swag from the school they’re visiting. This is a bunch of panic over nothing. If you can’t believe Eason’s father when he says to put the razor blades down, I’m not sure what else to tell you.

Yep. Last I checked, it’s “Commit to the G”, not “Commit to the R”. Eason has done a lot of recruiting for this class. He is pretty invested.

It was n’t his father that said that I believe it was his HS coach.

UM has Kaaya, Testeverde Jr and a high 4* committed. UF has Grier and a 5* committed. If Eason don’t honor his commitment, I’ll be shocked.

Could’ve been a pretty good TE or HB (maybe even LB), possibly. Happy Trails, Faton.

Agree with the Senator. He was put in a horrific, no win situation. Kid is definitely a DGD.

Faton contributed in many ways beyond the QB role and will always be a Dawg. Good success to you in Miami or wherever the road leads you.

  9. Meanwhile, we’re all looking around for Kirby and he’s… wait? Where is he? Oh, yeah, right. Saban hasn’t given him permission to take the job yet.

    • How long do we serve burgers full of flour vs those with the real beef? The Georgia faithful are hungry for the beef. LOL

Will Georgia be the last to have at least a full time HC vs a part time one?

ADGM sure is having a grand time rubbing this one on Georgia faithful. I would guess per Alabama’s performance, at least 4-5 more weeks.

I would hope that next week Smart would pivot to UGA and get his staff in place, expecially OC, and recruit before the dead period. Then, he can go back and focus on Bama’s run. Fair?

Bauta is a DGD and I wish him the best. That being said if I was a top flight QB UGA would HAVE to be in strong consideration. We just need a HC, OC and QB coach. You know……..details like that. Sheesh.

  11. I thought Faton should have changed positions early in his time at Georgia to tight end, linebacker or safety. The young man was really never an SEC caliber QB no matter how hard he worked. All the best to him in whatever is next for him.

Faton could stay in red and black, not leave the state, and win a national title…Valdosta State is waiting…hope he’s already been talking to David Dean. GO DAWGS and GO BLAZERS!

Well at least it won’t be a dull off season. Kirby has to know the first hire has to be the OC and not just for Eason. Hope Scrooge McGarity has his pen out to write the checks. The U seemed mighty happy to see the Boca Kid.

The way he put Bauta in for the Florida game was almost like Richt got a message from God or something, but misread it.
