Say anything, Will.

How much does Boom want the South Carolina job?  Well, he appears to be pulling out all the stops.

Easy gesture for Muschamp. Lattimore does not have a degree yet and he says he doesn’t want to coach college ball due to the time demand.

    • It really looks like Auburn’s admin has told Muschamp to go find a job.

I don’t agree. He’s done great work for Auburn in the past and was likely to produce a much improved defense next year after more recruiting. It’s not like he’s taking a lateral move to Louisville like Grantham. Interviewing for a head coaching job in the SEC is not something one is only willing to do if he’s being pushed out of a coordinator job.

Seriously, things are this bad a South Carolina? I thought, err heard, that it was a plum job. All that money and no one will take it.

…and gave indication that it was KS or bust! Surprising really…

I have zero problem with hiring Kirby Smart. His slate is clean as a HC. I guess I’m an optimist. He’s as accomplished as Richt was when he assumed the UGA job.

I guess that means people will give him a pass when we lose a game his first couple of seasons when:
          – A player goes the wrong way on the goal line, and we lose to a rival on the goal line as the clock runs out.
          – We waste time outs and then don’t have any to stop the clock when we need to get the ball back.
          – His first championship team loses their composure and commits dumb penalties, misses field goals, and commits turnovers to lose to Florida.
          – Etc.

KS is going to be learning on the job since he has never been a head coach at any level … just like CMR. We better be ready for a rocky road of poor decisions, clock management gaffes (even his current boss isn’t very good at managing the clock), and other in-game mistakes. I imagine those who were happy to see CMR gone will be the first in line to bash Smart when these things happen.

We had a chance to prevent this by going after an established, experienced head coach but didn’t because the puppet masters wanted one of their own.

      • Pull your head out of your ass, Rick. It’s not a comparable hire. One guy was a disaster as a HC and has serious self control issues. The other is unproven but is Saban’s longest tenured and most highly valued assistant. One is the hottest assistant in CFB. The other was about to get fired again, a year after being fired.

unitl he signs I wouldn’t say they hired him.

I’m a little surprised that they haven’t gotten more interest from up-and-coming coaches, but I believed all along that Coach Muschamp deserved another head coaching opportunity despite what happened at Florida. He made some bad hires on offense. It happens.

      • With Georgia, Florida and Tennessee all on the rise, and Clemson looking as strong as they’ve been in awhile in the state of SC, the gamecocks job probably looks like a bear trap to up and coming coaches. Might be the kind of place where a coach who has nothing left to prove takes the challenge, but not the place a guy with his whole career in front of him wants to risk it.

I am just glad he does not want to be our D coach. Getting Lattimore behind him would endear him to their fan base.

I don’t care where he goes as long as he stays the hell away from Georgia.

Just can’t see that maniac on our sidelines, at least until he has some serious anger management counseling.

+1000 I say we start a Kickstarter fund to get Will hired at USC. We can’t have him bursting an artery on our sideline. That and all the Facebook memes. I just couldn’t take it.

My South Carolina friends are rolling their eyes at that news. They know that the university has already -multiple times- invited Lattimore any position he would accept.

Please Cocks .. Give this asshole head case the job. It will keep him out of UGA, and for that I am eternally grateful.

I may have said this earlier this week (sorry, even Tuesday seems like a year ago), but one of the main reasons I wouldn’t want Coach Aneurysm on the UGA sideline is because he’d always be looking to bolt for the next HC job that opened up. Maybe he is a good defensive coach – Bobo always ate his lunch, though – but he obviously got a taste of power and liked it.

I’m assuming that the omnipotent hand of Jimmy Sexton is working his magic. He is using his Jedi mind tricks on the Cocks. He has Muschamp acting like he is the HC and “this is the coach you are looking for”. As desperate as they now are I bet it works. I just hope he doesn’t pull some last minute stuff on us.

Does Jimmy really even need to turn it up to 11 because just how hard is it to outsmart a chicken?

I can’t think of a better hire South Carolina could make. He has head coaching experience. He has consistently fielded strong defenses. He has passion. He was once the head coach in waiting at TEXAS. They’d be crazy NOT to hire him.
