Hit this link, and you’ll find a post that lists, in the words of its author, “…what every single one of the 128 FBS teams is ranked first at, and what they’re ranked last at.”
What Georgia’s last at – number of third down conversions – won’t surprise you a bit, but what Georgia ranks first in might. (Hint: it’s also an offensive stat.)

You’re misreading it. Georgia had the fewest TFL allowed per game.

It does not compute, precisely. Though it isn’t like we sat there hate-watching games going “man, Lambert is getting creamed”. Still, it is the stat one would be inclined to associate with some level of effectiveness on offense. Alas.

Fewest third-down conversions + Fewest TFL a game = UGA whiffed on a ton of third-and-shorts. Which is pretty much what the eye test said.

No stat for 3rd and 1 or less than 1 runs that were stuffed for no gain. would of lead in that one I’d bet

I’m sure it helped that we had a lot of plays that were runs for short gains or passes for short gains, but it probably helped more that we were near the very bottom in number of offensive plays per game.
Also, I think we are #1 nationally in passing defense.

It makes me sad that I know what that means. 😥

Pretty funny how obscure some of those stats have to get to find something every team is best at… I love Auburn’s: overtime points per game in away games. I’m surprised Tech’s wasn’t “most first downs per game on a Thursday”

Third and short with everyone knowing you are going to run the ball between the tackles without a fullback as a lead blocker for an entire season will cause the dismissal of an entire coaching staff.

Good news: ball did not go backwards on offensive plays.
Bad news: ball did not go forwards on offensive plays.

I swear at one point I was reading a five factors and UGA was like a top 5 offense on first and second down and 120th on third down.
We were so bad on third down…so bad..so very bad…

Georgia leads in TFL allowed
Penn State is at the bottom in Sacks per game in away games.

They aren’t that good in sacks allowed at home, either. IIRC, they gave up 10 sacks to Temple to open the season. T-E-N.

You can count on us running our Neutral Formation on offense to counter their 4-3 Idle defense. I keed, I keed.

Georgia didn’t take many chances thus the low number of yards per loss. Gave up only a few sacks and no big losses on blown-up reverses or trick plays.

What a weird season Offensively.

2015 stats do not matter now. BM and ADGM ain’t happy and dismantled the coaching staff. So we start with 2016, here comes Kirby’s Dawgs, woof, woof.

I love lists like this – perfect for reading while wasting time at work. I’d much rather study this than some boring year-end-review. The author really had to dig for some stats like for Ga. State – Opponent PAT percentage in games played on the road or a neutral site. Tulane led in punts per game at home. Is that really a best?
