While you’re in Columbia, don’t get into any sideline fights with other assistant coaches, BMac.
Seriously, best of luck to you.

I hope we don’t get smoked in the bowl game….. I’m beginning to get a really bad feeling about all this…..

With my luck, we will win 45-9 with 600 yards of offense.

I hope BMac is only there for a year and then takes an OC or HC job somewhere out of the South.
He is a good guy and deserves a job on the West Coast. 🙂

Ugh—not exactly news I wanted to hear. BMac deserves far better than that gig. Its like being a great/loyal company employee, and as reward for all your dedication and hard work, they want you to relocate to either west Texas or Buffalo, as you’re no longer needed in Athens/San Diego/Charlottesville. And oh yea, your new boss in that region is well known as a complete, incompetent jerk, who just happens to abhor the sector (side of the ball) that you work (coach) in.

Agree and hope it works out well for BMac as he deserves it. On a separate note, USCjr has got some pretty good recruiters on staff now with BMac and Travaris Robinson plus Muschamp is no slouch when it comes to pulling in defensive talent. It will be real interesting to watch the Bama-UGA-FL-SC and Clemson recruiting battles over the next few years.

I assume he had an offer to go to Miami and chose to go to SC to stay in the SEC.

That’s a tough one. If he was going to be gone, I didn’t really want to see him at Miami because I think he would have made great strides toward taking some Florida talent from UGA. I also hate to see him at a direct competitor, but if he’s going to be at one, it seems like USCe – under Boom – is the place where he could hurt UGA the least. He’s going to have to compete against everyone for talent. I suppose he can at least sell the possibility of early playing time.

Good luck to him even though I hate to hear it. I was really hoping he would stay at Georgia or at least go to Miami where he wouldn’t be directly competing against Georgia.

Damn, Kirby better bring on some heavyweight recruiters with the new team. BMac is nationally recognized as a first rate recruiter and I hate we will now have to compete against him. Only hope is that Boom blows up on the sideline and scares away the good prospects.

CKS must have some terrific assistants lined up for the new staff. It’s damn hard to find assistants who can out-recruit Pruitt or BMac. Imagine if scu were to sign RBs like Gurley, Marshall or Michel – out-of-staters that BMac brought to UGA.

I’ve read…somewhere…that all we need to do is close the borders and we’ll be talent rich. Rumor is Kirby has reached out to Trump to build a really good fence.

And the plan is to have Bama, Auburn, Tennessee and South Carolina pay for the fence.

And they’ll be happy to do it!

Hard to turn down the Co-OC title I guess but did Kirby want him or not?

This seems like a great hire for SC. Why promote him to HC and then not retain him with the new staff? Does anyone have any insight?

While his recruiting was excellent, his WR production this season…left a bit to be desired. A lot of that falls on the QBs and offensive line regression too, but other than Godwin halfway through the season no one beyond Mitchell (who was already great) stepped up at WR.

Is Kirby letting this get out of hand?

I don’t think so, but who knows. The leaks from BM have suspiciously stopped since Kirby came on board; however, just bc his moves are being telegraphed doesn’t mean wheels aren’t turning. Let’s wait and see how the staff looks once completed.

Yeah, I don’t think we can really form an accurate opinion of his first full year until that first full year is complete.

BMac has served UGA well, just like his dad did and in what is undeniably a great Bulldog family. I wish Brian the very best wherever the coaching profession may take him. While he now becomes a competitor, he will always be a DGD. Thanks and good luck, coach!

“I was going some place and I didn’t even know it yet. A hundred klicks eastbound and down snaking up the country like a circuit cable plugged into Agent Boom. Despite the party-sized banners, he’s out there operating without any decent restraint totally beyond the pale of any acceptable human conduct. It was a real choice mission and when it was over, I never wanted another.”

It’s unfortunate that CKS let McClendon, Brown and Schotty get away (okay, I’m joking about Schotty), but at this point I’m willing to take a wait and see approach in terms of who else he brings in to coach. He needs to assemble his staff and an assistant here or there isn’t going to make or break the program, so long as they’re fundamentally solid and can coach these guys up. As far as I’m concerned, I’m done commenting about CKS and his staff until the season begins and the results show up on the field. However, I will break my no comment about the staff position if CKS brings Scotty back in any capacity whatsoever, LOL.

Seriously however, Georgia is being screwed. I guess the players may have to run the bowl game by themselves. Except they may do a better job in the offense than Shotty did.

You people who are saying the sky is falling need to get a grip on yourself.
As Athens dog said CKS out recruited CMR for years. I believe he will bring the cream of the crop to UGA now instead of BAMA. Have some faith and get on board with the new coach. Some on this board sound like a bunch of old hens. This is a new era for Georgia Football and I believe it will be the
best Football UGA fans have seen. CKS will put UGA on the National map
in college football with what we all want CHAMPIONSHIPS.
He has waited for this and he is ready. He will make UGA proud.
Yes, CMR is a great man but a good football coach.
I believe we now have a great man and a great football coach.
Coach Kirby Smart is going to blow the lid off this football program.
Mark it down you heard it from the DOG MAN.

I like the vinegar but I would be happy with just being competitive, winning the east is really all I need to see for the next 3 seasons. If we don’t win the east, I would expect to at least acknowledge that we got beat by the better squad, which hasn’t been the case in the last 5 years.

Maybe Smart will win a NC every season as a head coach and announce at each post NC game press conference that we heard it first from The DOG MAN. Sure hope so.
The legitimate concern is that once Smart left Athens there has been zero reported activity on his part to build for UGA rather than Alabama. He can communicate with potential assistants by cell, landline, text, email or fax. He can call and text recruits. Yet, we have no news of any staff hires since Pittman. The recruiting reporters told us about recruits who have not heard from him.
He seems to be working full-time for someone other than my team. I really do not G. A. S. how Alabama does in the play-off. Check that, I hope Michigan State beats them so our coach can begin working for our team sooner rather than later.
You heard that from the spokesman for the bunch of old hens.

this is a train wreck. All programs need some continuity and institutional memory and if Greg McGarity is what fills those voids we are absolutely screwed ……no championships until we fire both the AD and this new Coach. Kirby somehow thinks he is the only man in the history of mankind who can serve two masters. An easy schedule in 2016 is going to be completely wasted with this defensive coordinator at head coach. There is no excuse for letting McClendon get away and to a division rival no less. USC will turn its program around before we recover from listening to the nattering nabobs of negativity. Regression to the mean is coming quicker than I thought. What is worse a mediocre coaching staff or no coaching staff?
