I don’t know about you, but if I were Bob Stoops, the last thing I’d want during the week leading up to my team’s CFP game is my starting quarterback trading shots with Gary Patterson, of all people.
On the other hand, if Baker Mayfield really plays better with a chip on his shoulder, then Stoops may need to thank this guy.
Wow, I don’t think Don Williams cares for the Mayfields too much

That guy in Lubbock is about as likable as Bill Shanks and Mark Bradley. Regarding the topic at hand, I understand the transfer rules for a scholarship player, but if I’m paying my own way, those rules are absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah Baker Mayfield seems like he gets to have a chip on his shoulder with the way the “adults” in this business have treated him. He now has the mic and is speaking on those things. more power to him.

Leave it to the NCAA and the idiotic transfer rules to make me take the side of a mouthy kid.

Looks like the Mayfields are using the Jimmy Orr defense….that’s my story and I’m sticking to it…but almost all conferences have the same rule.
Mayfield may have been a walk-on, but he played for the team, so it seems to me the transfer rule applies.
My knee jerk reaction when the story first came out was with the Mayfields…now…not so much. Is that the smell of political wankery I get from the west?

The issue isn’t about his transfer. It’s that he’s lost a year of eligibility because of TT’s refusal to grant a waiver. It’s a bad rule.

Agree totally, the guy didn’t sign contract with or receive any benefits from TT so he should be an unrestricted free agent. TT is being a horse’s ass about this.
Mayfield probably does play better with a chip on his shoulder, he reminds me of Connor Shaw, a warrior type attitude at QB. If he stays healthy, I feel OU wins it all. But then the last two years have destroyed my confidence about predicting CFB outcomes, strangest two years I can remember. Boomer!

That was the Alex Hawkins defense. I remember when Hawkins told that story in the Atlanta Journal when he played for the Falcons. Those two white wide receivers from the State of South Carolina can be easily confused!

I am stunned that the AJC hasn’t hired Don Williams to troll for their POS paper. He certainly has the personality for it. As you hypothesized, Senator, I believe Mayfield is the Tom Brady of college they both play better with a chip on their shoulder.
