The next Saban trend

Alabama just hired an assistant coach.  The thing is, there are already nine assistants on staff there.  So

As part of the move, Crimson Tide assistant head coach and offensive line coach Mario Cristobal is expected to move to tight ends and tackles coach, per the sources. The addition of Key would mean Alabama coach Nick Saban would have to move another current assistant to another role to comply with NCAA rules that limit an FBS coaching staff to nine assistants.

Roster management – it’s not just for student-athletes anymore!  At least nobody loses a scholarship, right?

Saban has called a meeting for all of the coaches to sit in the board room. He’ll enter, give a speech, then pick up a baseball bat and walk around behind one guy and…

I’m pretty sure Saban’s just going to decide which guy’s the worst of the bunch and loan him to Auburn. They need warm bodies.

Seems odd that Cristobal gets pushed aside for a guy with what appears to be inferior credentials and results. I wonder if he pissed Saban off or if he wants/needs to dial it down a few notches? Health issues perhaps?

Wonder how long under NCAA rules he can have 10 coaches? He has probably found some loophole and keep his 10 on field coaches until they actually hit the field playing a real game.

This just in the NCAA has decided independently to increase the assistant coaches to 10.

Saban will declare himself be an administrative assistant. Who will argue with him about it? Problem solved
