Sign of the times

There’s a report of another Baylor player under investigation for sexual assault.

The school president admits he’s lawyered up about his institution’s repeated problems in that area.

So what does that leave?  How about a nifty sign at the practice field?

That ought to take care of the problem.

you know what a Baylor football player tells a woman with two black eyes? Nothing. He done told her twice already.

    Needs to be a hashtag.

I just read John Krakauer’s book, Missoula: Rape and the Justice System in a College Town. If you have a daughter or son going to college, in college, or even recently out of college, this would be a good book for them to read. Krakauer has been criticized for being too pro-victim in the writing of this book, but I think this approach was beneficial to getting out the message that our justice system, when it comes to rape, has a lot of flaws. A lot of the book deals with the trauma women experience from acquaintance rape as well. It’s very sad and difficult to read at times, and may make you angry at times, but very worth reading.

The irony of this happening on Ken Starr’s watch is almost too much to call coincidence. Maybe there is cosmic justice in the universe.

Nice juxtaposition of those signs. “Respect Women” “Be Physical”

The biggest changes always start with one sign.

In Knoxville they have a much bigger sign over the RMRW sign. In that Tenn orange hue, it says, “CBNC – Call Butch Not Cops (don’t be hatin’ on your teammates”).

Everyone should watch the ESPN 30 for 30 on the Duke Lacrosse scandal. Those who use rape as a political tool and those who are in fact rapist or defenders of rapist are both evil. Both cause rape to be a crime that is more of a political volleyball and taken less seriously than it should be. Many don’t want to look to deeply because drugs and alcohol play a huge part in the problem. And the whole moral core of the country is skewed. But we don’t really want to discuss those things. It won’t be long before we have Rapist Disorder

I thought this was going to be a lighthearted piece about Prince having the flu and cancelling his Atlanta show, and now I’m sad.
