Because that’s where the money is.

Two tweets that explain a lot about recruiting in Alabama and Georgia.

If you’re Malzahn or Saban, you pretty much have to do two things:  (1) lock your home state down and (2) look east for more.

I doubt changing Georgia’s Open Records law will change that much.

25 for Georgia, 7 for Tech. Didn’t Kirby build a fence and make Bama pay for it?

Statiscally, Saban is one of the tallest FBS head coaches representing the state university in the state of Alabama.

The % signing tweet from sport source is a meaningless statistic. Alabama gets Auburn to split their state’s talent with. 4&5 star players don’t go to Tech.

True, but if there is even a 1 percent chance it may ever have an effect on just one recruit then worth it. The process!!

Of course, when we land more of the top in-state talent at UGA it reduces the player pool for bama and the barners.

On the flip side, I’ve read about recent overtures from CKS to Alabama HS players. For all the kids we might shoot for, maybe we land one, perhaps two at best. Getting a kid out of our western neighbor is one tough egg to crack (unless that egg is golden or has gold in it).

It’s likely Kirby will get a target or two out of Bama. He has recruited the state for years and knows the coaches and players. That pipeline will likely begin to dry up in 4-5 years, though.

I’d settle for better recruiting in our backyard – Gwinnett County. We’ve missed on Price, Derrick Brown, Nkemdeche, Lawson, etc. Those kids should be in a conga line to Athens.
