So he’s saying there’s a chance.

There are no guarantees in life, of course, and I’m not saying KC Joyner’s making one, but if you’re looking for a reason to think Georgia could have a good season in 2016, take that he’s guaranteeing the Dawgs have absolutely zero chance of making the college football playoffs as exactly that.

  1. Skeptic Dawg

I think that it is a pretty safe bet that the Dawgs will not make the playoffs in 2016. Georgia is certainly not as talented as the top teams from the West…yet. The game vs Alabama last season was a measuring stick for our program, and boy howdy did the Dawgs prove to be lacking across the board. The question is can the Dawgs compete for the SECE title? And I say yes to that one. I believe that Kirby will improve the talent level and have this program competing nationally in the next few years.

  2. Cojones.

And in the very next article, the ESPN staff selects UGA as an “X” factor team and has them playing in Atl.

But KC picked Tenn to win the East. Do they have differing writers write differing articles until someone hits their prediction pretty close and would give credit to ESPN as being correct? That’s nice. And they can write an after-article that hits the other bases by the collective staff? That’s not nice, that’s duplicitous.

And we have June, July and Aug for them all to change their minds and write charming articles of how great Aub, Tenn, FU players are before it’s over with. Nice work (?) if you can get it.

  3. and people wonder why espin is shedding reporters worse than my golden retriever sheds.

  4. It’s click bait and thats how espn makes money right?! Somebody has to win the East and it may as well be Georgia….We shall see come Sept…..

Kirby hits the ground running, Catalina rocks, Eason more true than freshman, Chubb roars back, the lights come on for Lorenzo and Trent ,,,,, and UGA could be the baddest of them all by December and win it all.
Kirby doesn’t master the learning curve, Catalina sucks, Eason false, Chubb stays hurt, front 7 clueless and we go 6-7.
I think either scenario could happen.

    • Don’t win 10 and it is failure according to a lot of people

      • rchris

I defended Richt, but 10-3 in 2016 feels like a birdie to me. 9-4 would be par for the course, giving Kirby 1 year to get the transition under his belt. After that, if we don’t average at least 10 a year then we haven’t upgraded.

      • Don’t win 8, and this season will be a failure. Win 10 including a bowl game is expected at this point.

Who gave us a chance to win it all in 1980?

    ps. I miss Leonard’s Loser’s

+1 on Leonard’s Losers. I can’t believe someone hasn’t resurrected that on the internet, or at least posted the archives.

      • Russ

The Internet Wayback Machine (archive.org) has a few shows. http://www.leonardslosers.com used to be the site.

God I miss the days of Leonard’s Losers and listening to Munson out in the hot dove field.

        • Cojones

Cut it out, you guys. Used to hear Leonard’s Losers all Sat morn and just before the game “Today, the Red Clay Hounds will……”. The nostalgia is becoming overwhelming and “…listening to Munson out in the hot dove field.” took the cake.

I may become a regular church goer in the simmer while praying for a cool snap before the first games.

As the good Senator deftly pointed out, you’ll go broke if you bet with KC as your muse. That’s not to say that we will even the East, but I think we have as much of a shot as UT even with their good schedule.

Suppose Georgia wins the east undefeated. That means wins ove OMs, NC, and TN…and the rest…Not impossibe to imagine, but improbable.
But if Georgia DOES win the East, and then loses a close one in ATL, they would be a one-loss SEC team and we will be wanting a berth in the playoffs, unless there are 4 undefeated teams..THEN we will hear the most we’ve ever heard about a “weak SEC East” from ESPN, etc..We won’t hear about a “weak” ACC or BiG…just the SECE.
It could happen. I’d bet against it, but it’s not unimaginable.

    • JCDAWG83

If we lost a close one in Atlanta, unless it was against a 2 or 3 loss West team, we couldn’t expect to go to the playoff. Why would the committee select a non champion over another conference’s champion, or even the SEC champion? The Bama/LSU rematch game was the last time a non conference champion will ever play in any sort of championship game.

  9. Macallanlover

He thinks TN has a good chance? All I need to know about his thinking. Neither TN nor UGA will be in a playoff this year, that’s a very safe bet…but one will probably be in Atlanta in early December. Anything can happen in one single game but LSU or Bama will be too much for the East winner this year.

  10. 10-2, 7-1 in league is totally doable for UGA. Losses vs UNC and @ Ole Miss both in September. One game to win and in. Not so far fetched.

    • Cojones

Ole Miss is far from the team it was last year. If the Dawgs are kicking into another gear at that time, OM won’t have a chance, home field or not.
