One more SEC East scheduling point

I noted yesterday that Georgia has at least a slight edge in scheduling over Tennessee because of the cross-division matchups.  If LSU is as good as some people believe, you’d have to think Georgia has a similar advantage over Florida.

And Les Miles will still be whining about his permanent cross division opponent.

You know what would be kind of fun? To have LSU go undefeated and Alabama have just the loss to LSU and be highly ranked…top 4. Then we could dig up Saban’s words that “A team that couldn’t win it’s conference shouldn’t play for the National Championship”. Remember that? Wasn’t it Saban that said that? He knew that it would be bad for Alabama for UGA to have a NC Trophy (recruiting). Forgive me if it wasn’t Saban, but I think it was.

      • Given how the 2011 season went, I doubt Saban said that.

I’m pretty sure he did. I think he was kind of baited into making the comment while SOS was free with the snark. One reason I think he said it is I remember conversations about the hypocrisy of his team facing LSU in a NCG after Bama lost the SEC on missed field goals to LSU…who beat the Dawgs in the SECCG. Bama prevailed in the NCG.

But to be fair and balanced to Saban..he publicly said that Georgia got screwed out of a BCS bowl that year. He doesn’t really seem to have a vile attitude like SOS.

Herbstreit…..one year after saying it didn’t matter as long as best two teams played. Ass-hat.

Steele is way off base thinking any conference will get two teams in the playoffs any tie soon, especially when they play this late in the season. But I don’t understand all the doubt on LSU. I am not saying they will be in the playoffs, or even win the West, but they look as good as anyone in the West. They look capable of going far if things break well for them, I see them as equals to Bama at this point

The lack of respect for the program under Miles is surprising, he puts a quality team on the field every season and has multiple SEC titles in the best conference in the country. Is he quirky? Yep. Has a call been second guessed when it blew up on him? When you take high risk gambles some will go down in flames. He always has great talent, a tradition for winning, maybe the best RB in the country, and a schedule that will be rewarded if they win. So he doesn’t have an Elite 11 QB to work with, other than Zach Mettenberg, when has he? They look 10-2, 11-1 ish to me and that will put you in the hunt. Along with FSU, Clemson, and Bama, the Tigers on the list as one of the best in the southeast and that always deserves respect.
