Uneasy lies the ellipsis.

Say what you will about Hugh Freeze – and we’ve said plenty here – here’s a stat that you have to admit is pretty impressive.

There are four coaches in SEC football history whose team improved its record each of its first four seasons – Georgia’s Wally Butts (1939-42), Alabama’s Bear Bryant (1958-61), Arkansas’ Bobby Petrino (2008-11) and Ole Miss’ Freeze (2012-15).  Freeze has a chance to become the first SEC coach to improve his record in each of his first five years, but…

That “but” in the last sentence is carrying a lot of weight, though.  It’s a good summary of the man’s career so far.

He’s got the best players money can buy.

Freeze may be a middling coach but he has achieved enough of a talent upgrade to make them a force. We now know that it was all dirty but that doesn’t change we will face a team that is probably ahead of us at this point. NCAA is sitting on their hands, and everyone knows it.

Timing was good for Freeze. He was hired about the same time as those flag sticks were outlawed in the stadium. The money spent on sticks then went toward better purposes!

What I noticed in the whole article was the low ranking of Booch, and the comment that what his fans fail to notice is that he is 3-13 against ranked teams and that his teams have blown six fourth quarter leads. I

I still don’t get the love and think we will handle them fine.

Does this mean that 12 wins next year would have to be improved on each of the next 3 years for Kirby to be considered in this pantheon of coaches?

So, Kirby will have to limit his wins next year in order to improve each year thereafter or he will be considered mundane and we will have to toss him aside? Thought so.

Hugh’s best: 10-3, 6-2 no SECCG. Dude is living off those wins vs. Bama. Anybody going to put money on Ole Miss to win that one this year? He’s still got the best QB in the league.

Reminds me of another SECW coach who earned all his (now spent, I think) capital with a win over Bama.

USC E is going to be so bad this year that Muschamp might have a shot at the record.
