They must have been suspended for an Auburn baseball game.
Regarding Gus’s job security, he could be on the ropes as early as September 25 if they lose to Clem’s Son, TAMU, and the Corn Dogs. He may be coaching for his job between the hedges by the time November 12 rolls around. Right now, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jay Jacobs have a press conference announcing a coaching search on November 27 after the Tide puts an epic beat down on them in T-town.

I’m surprised that Gus has let the QB situation get as much out of control as it has. Although the schedule is front end loaded, at least y’all get them at home. What’s your take on Gus’s job status? What do you think he has to do to stay off the November/December coaching carousel?

Good questions for you, WDE, ones that we are interested in, at least. An honest reply would be nice, but understand that your attitude can have already been wounded here. Things at Auburn look pathetic to us and we are putting your coach in the middle of what’s wrong, however, you may not see it that way and may want to plead his coaching case against our short-sighted opinions. What’s up?

Good questions. I think he has to win, but I think every SEC coach has to win. I think they need to be competitive this year for Gus to keep his job, but I have no idea of a win/loss record.
If the offense is inept AND there’s no defense, I think he’s in trouble. If the offense is a points machine and the defense keeps it manageable, I think he stays.
I’m no longer connected in just about any fashion, but I’ve heard a number of folks who don’t think he’s on the hot seat.
Regarding the schedule and home field advantage, I think a few of these teams won’t matter – Clemson, UGA, LSU, and SPUAT can beat you anywhere.

Yeah, Tim, that ganja has been implicated in so many hard crimes that we can’t keep up with it, but for an old fart’s curiosity, could you identify one for me? The last confrontation that I saw between pot and the law was at Kent State when a girl (obviously high on pot because it was a demonstration and we know how that brings out the hard-core smokers) placed a flower stem into a gun barrel pointed at her unarmed high of peace.
Tim, a puff or so would do you and the Trump “Law and Order” movement a lot of good. ‘Course, us old farts will be there to hold your hand and help you through withdrawal.

While I agree MJ should be decriminalized, legalized, and regulated (taken away from the drug thugs) I don’t think we can continue down a path of ignoring laws we don’t agree with. There are ways to change laws, but neither teenagers nor government officials have the right to write their own rules, or enforce laws as they choose. You are either a nation that lives within the rules or you can accept the chaos that comes from everyone deciding which laws they will obey. We seem to be trending in a dangerous direction recently and “I feel a bad wind blowing”.

Escalates to where? Are you implying that pot is a gateway drug? That statement was repudiated by scientific data long ago. I can certainly agree that coke, meth and many others are guaranteed to addict you, but pot doesn’t even come close, else, many people blogging here would continue smoking from their college experimentation days until now.
Btw, I never touched pot until after I had championed it as a viable drug for glaucoma and cancer. A THC pill was introduced by Merck in the early 80s, but it didn’t work the same as inhaling. Nowadays it can be inhaled through vaporizer action using cannabis oil for treatment of both. Sanja Gupta also had several videos of other clinical uses of pot.
Start reading the info that’s available on medical internet sites that are vetted for scientific accuracy and that reference studies.

Charles Manson thinks murder shouldn’t be against the law doesn’t make it less illegal. Agreeing with or disagreeing with it doesn’t mean you don’t have to follow the law and won’t get punished when you break it. Until the law is changed we still are required to follow the law.

Seriously, Nixon’s break-in? For which trivial political high-jinx he ended up resigning. Yet Klinton (Billy) committed perjury on video tape, with DNA evidence proving his guilt (doesn’t even address his sexual harassment), and the ball less fool then drags the entire country through his personal gutter rather than do the honorable thing. And that doesn’t bother you, but Nixon’s action does? The man resigned, now both Klintons lie and want to continue on the public teat, and the damned fool voters say “hell yeah!” Hollyweird couldn’t come up with something so preposterous.

Anyone who can characterize what Nixon did as mere “trivial political high-jinx” lacks a certain basic perspective, I’m afraid.
As far as Clinton goes, you also fail to see that most of the country had enough sense to recognize that while what Clinton did was both selfish and wrong, it was the result of an out-of-control special prosecutor’s attempt to find something to hang on him after the original subject of inquiry yielded nothing. It was then compounded by an impeachment proceeding that was an overreaction to what had gone on. And if the entire country was dragged through something, that wasn’t just Clinton’s fault – something else that was recognized, as Clinton left office far more popular with the public than the Republican Congress.
