Urban Meyer’s got a new BFF.

Shades of “And it will forever be in the mind of Urban Meyer and in the mind of our football team. … So we’ll handle it. And it’s going to be a big deal.”

Perhaps the juiciest storyline of Big Ten Media Days on Tuesday was some heat between Penn State and fellow East Division rivals Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan that emerged after a reporter asked both Mark Dantonio and Urban Meyer about supposed negative recruiting allegations Nittany Lions coach James Franklin had made last month in the Reading Eagle.

Meyer’s answer: “Absolutely not. That’s the first I’ve ever heard of that. That’s a pretty strong allegation. I will address that with coach Franklin.”

Oh, I just bet he will.

Friendly advice to Coach Franklin:  you’d best be keeping an eye on Ohio State’s second half timeouts in your game this year.

Also, you might want to warn your AD to STFU about the same.

Good old Corch. He never misses an opportunity to show what a self centered thin skinned spoiled brat he is.

America’s worst fan base inspired by the biggest A-hole coach, a perfect match. If you step outside your nearby rivals, this is the program that everyone can agree to hate. It was once ND, but ohio is the clear leader for me, and there is no close second.

Are there a lot of Buckeye fans near you? ATL may have a good number of them (we in AL are not so cursed). UF is and always will be the worst, IMO. They have the arrogance of Bama and are profain beyond courteous description.

Spend some time around the South Carolina fan base, you’ll have a new #1. Someone put it best when they said about chicken fans; “the arrogance of Bama with the trophy case of Vandy”.

I don’t like UF but at least they have actually won something.

JCDAWG83, you are dead on about SC fans. If you go to Columbia on game weekend you will see the SC fans in all their glory. Nasty, loud, rude and arrogant are terms that come to mind. Don’t believe me, google some of the stories about the Texas A&M game a couple of years ago when A&M held their midnight rally.

Yep, worst I’ve ever run across. They actually had men (sic) enter the UGA bus full of coaches wives and threaten to “whip ass” because the bus parked such that it blocked their view of the stadium. I was challenged to a fight before I ever got to the stadium in our car. Calling them red necks is an insult to red necks everywhere.

The Big Televen (Telorteen?) is accumulating quite the collection of assholes. Irwin, Harbaugh and Franklin were all made for each other.

No need to complain about the TO’s. Urban made us his bitch. Admitting it is the first step to recovery.

Amen. Urban outworked and took Richt apart. He was the first coach that truly smoked Richt on special teams with a fake punt that everyone saw coming in 2005 and just ate him alive with field position until the dam broke.

I have zero love for Urban Meyer. I still maintain that if he wanted to do something about the end zone party, he had the balance of more than three and a half quarters of the game to do it. But, whatever. In a fight between Penn State and Urban Meyer I am enthusiastically and unabashedly on Team Meyer until the last Joe Paterno truther is in his or her grave. What’s going on in the dark corners of the Penn State fandom with respect the continued hagiography of Joe Paterno (who now certainly appears to have at least turned a blind eye to the acts of a predatory pedophile) is vile and disgusting. If Penn State loses to Ohio State by 50 this year, my only question will be why Ohio State wasn’t going for 2 every time. And while I acknowledge that there are a lot of Penn Staters who have turned the page on Paterno and simply love their school and their team, they need to be doing more to educate the rest of the lot.

Also, James Franklin is as big an ass as Urban Meyer anyway.

You can now drop the soap in the PSU showers and not have to squeeze your butt cheeks and say “Let’s go see the Coach”..

They paid the recruiting price and now have to endure the scrappy rumors. Endure and be done with it. Go and sin no more. Start the rumor that OSU, under Meyer, has an LGBT backfield that says it can beat the hell out of Michigan’s uptight fey O-line. That way, you get them squabbling about sexual rumors that will keep them busy while you are trying to live yours down. Where is your nasty underhanded competitive spirit, PSU?

Never expected to be pulling for Franklin..or Corch. However there are at least a couple of rivalries that I am putting in the “meteorite” column (Or is it “Meteor”? I’m pretty sure which is scientifically correct, but not looking to challenge the vernacular).

As much as Urban shat all over the Gator Nation when he left us, the way he left us, and what remanents he left us with will always be a blight on our shared history. That said, there is not a Gator fan alive that does not get a warm and fuzzy feeling when thinking about those time outs. Particularly those of us that were at both games.

Come on Mike, Stevie used to do the same thing to us because he held a grudge for 25 years not just one. The Florida game which I attended for over 25 years used to be a great weekend and everybody had a good time. Now even my Gator friends (I live just south of Hog Town) say that the Jax game is a pain in the butt. The younger fans from both side want to insult everybody from the other side and it is like walking a gauntlet to get out after the game. The games are just as interesting and a heck of a lot safer at home. I’ll leave the WLOCP to the fans from A Clockwork Orange.

Now seems like a good time to toast this week’s “Point o’ the Week” from the 2015 South Carolina game!

In the end, it’s nice to think that the Dawgs got the last laugh.
