Another day, another rationale.
Now, instead of the dog eating the homework paperwork getting lost, it’s just your basic “we didn’t need the kid anymore, so we wish him well” stuff that’s SOP at ‘Bama. That at least has the virtue of familiarity going for it.
By the way, I just bet Saban can prove that every incoming transfer to his program has come for “clear non-athletics reasons”. In other words, they’re still BSing.
Isn’t being accepted to Graduate school at another school a “non-athletic” reason?

…and if you go over to RollBamaRoll, most of the guys are all in on this without any acknowledgement of how it could be a dick move. They’re blatantly calling Maurice Smith entitled (it’s literally the title of an article).

They’re a bunch of Bammers … what else would you expect?

They are full blown enablers. These are people who could watch Jonathan Taylor beat their wives and would insist that he be allowed to suit up on Saturday vs. Auburn.
Saban has been fucking people with impunity since he showed up down there. They…do…not…care…. If Saban washed his little Debbie’s down with the blood of infants they’d want to know where their kid could donate.
I pull for everyone to beat Alabama (except a National Championship eligible auburn team and Notre Dame) and will continue to do so as long as that asshole is in Tuscaloosa. Yes, if you’re wondering, I pulled for both Urban Meyer AND Clempson.

Had to check for myself. The lack of self-awareness of a Bama fan calling someone “entitled” is incredible.
Here’s the link. Gotta love any rational argument that ends with “Sometimes, life is rough”

I hope the young man and his family file an appeal with the SEC office. I want to see $ankey and the suits in Birmingham squirm on this one. We’ll see whether Nick Saban Rules the SEC office like we all suspect.
The young man has done everything required of him under his letter of intent. He should be able to step away as an Alabama alumnus and continue to pursue his graduate education elsewhere whether at another SEC institution or not.

I think it is a BS rule and I hope he gets his waiver.
Question…is he eligible this fall if he pays his own way tuition wise?
If he does not get the waiver and he is eligible immediately if he pays his own way he may just need to bite the bullet and take out a student loan. Basically one semester of a graduate program could not be that much. Again…the rule is BS and I don’t blame the kid for not wanting to do that but sometimes you have to pay to really get what you want. If playing at UGA for Kirby is what he really wants then do it. I think it would piss Saban off more because he is essentially saying…..F-you Saban..I would rather pay my own way and play with Kirby then play for you.

No, the rule has nothing to do with whether or not the school or the player foots the bill for tuition. It all has to do with the release from the school.

Ok. Thanks. That is really a bogus rule then if you can’t even transfer once you have graduated and you are going to pay your own way.
Those are some bogus reasons too concerning the “differences” between Maurice and the WR kid that went to Mizzu.

Yes, it pretty much boils down to ‘Black wasn’t going to play, Smith was’.

Somebody needs to explain the First Law of Holes to Alabama.

No problem. Our inspirational a.d. Is going to intervene on the players behalf and tell both bama and the sec they can shove it.
More likely is that McG will suspend Smith if he comes to UGA despite what saban says.

Looks like CMR is going to benefit from Saban being his usual a–hole self.

Sankey isn’t going to do anything. This is working as intended; coaches don’t want to line up against their former players. Notice the silence from B-M.
