“… It’s called common sense.”

Jimbo Fisher knows what’s wrong with college football.

On the eve of a potential shift in the ACC’s scheduling, Florida State Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher advocated for uniform schedules across the Power 5 leagues and a college football commissioner.

“I’d like to play for a championship where everyone has the same rules,” he said. “… You don’t think we need a commissioner and a set of rules to make things even? We’re the only sport in America that doesn’t have the same set of rules for everybody that plays.”

Yeah, moar NFL.  That’s the ticket.

How far do you want to push even, Jimbo?  You wanna operate on, say, Wake Forest’s football budget?  That would be fair.  You think it might be a good idea to reduce the scholarship limits to spread the talent out farther?  That would make things more even.

I suspect your conception of what rules need to be evened and Mike Leach’s might be different.

While we’re at it, who do you have in mind for college football czar?  Who’s the guy or gal who could make Delany and Sankey willingly cede authority?  Yeah, me neither.

It’s amazing to me the number of people who believe the best thing college football can do is to trash what makes it so unique, its regional roots.

I am curious as to what advantages Jimbo thinks other schools have from FSU that he currently wants, but isnt allowed to have?

My sentiments exactly! He plays Clemson and sometimes Notre Dame. We should all have the path to the playoffs that he does.

How do you reconcile your football views with your political views? You hate the NFL model of an even playing field with shared success and support the unregulated, free enterprise college model. I love watching both leagues but I am getting a little tired of watching Alabama win every year (except when they beat Clemson). A little parity and a more even playing field would be good for the college sport.

Well, when it comes to scheduling I totally agree. In a year he has to play ND, that’s 10 P5 games, versus someone like Auburn playing 8, including 8 home games.

I would like to see 2 things:

-a requirement to play 10 P5 games. Less cupcakes and everyone is on the same playing field.
-every conf must have at least 12 teams and a champ game.

You can keep the regional beauty with those tweaks. You’re not mandating who to schedule. That would invite us to some home and homes with State, UVa, Wake, VaTech, Duke, UNC and maybe FSU. Maybe Tech and Auburn would decide to play every yr or UF and Miami. Or, it would force the hand to leagues to play 9 games, which I’m all for.

Well, duh: Donald J. Trump! He’d make college football great again! He would make thing so even so fast that your head will swim. The first day – no the first hour – he was czar, he would unsign all the silly NCAA rules Etc., etc.

It’ll be unlike anything you’ve ever seen, Really. You won’t believe how good it will be. It will be so good, SO good. I mean really, really good. And the cheerleaders too. I mean, they’re okay, but most are not a “10”. When I’m the College Football Czar they’ll all be 10’s. Don’t worry about the conference commissioners – they love me. They all love me. Everyone in the football world loves me. Why? Because I win. That’s all I do. And when I’m the Czar everyone will win. Every week. Everyone will win every week and we’ll all be Champions. Because that’s what I do.

I agree with Jimbo. I think it should start with FSU playing an SEC schedule.

I can’t stand Fisher. Never figured him for a socialist though. These bastards will not quit with this attempt to professionalize us.
