    If Brice can take what he is doing in practice to game time, it will change the threat of our O immensely. He has the tools for create the down-field threat we need to empty the box….and without extra bodies in the box to stuff the run…Chubb and company will eat like a big Dawg. And when teams do stack’em to stop Chubb, Ramsey better make’em pay. I’m getting a little anxious.

    …and that is great news about Holyfield. Just another weapon.

      Ramsey’s abilities are well known. But so are his weaknesses. I wonder if he can manage more passing TD’s than interceptions.

        We’ve talked a lot about Chaney as a QB whisperer and hoped it would work for Lambert while Eason grows into it. But maybe it’s Ramsey who benefits the most. After all, Ramsey has tools, but hadn’t been able to figure out how to use them before.

        But then who’s going to punt? Eh, maybe we won’t need a punter. 🙂

    I still maintain that Bobo leaving really stunted Ramsey’s progress. If Chaney can get him back on pace it will be a very pleasant surprise. As far as the Holyfield = Moreno comparison, I always felt Moreno’s major asset was his elusiveness more so than any kind of “violence.”

      Yes, if Holyfield can run with the creative elusiveness and add in more brute strength than Moreno had, well, then there’s not much more to it. Chubb and Gurley have the instinct to go places juuuust barely off balance of their defenders with power. Looks like the run game will be fun to watch.

    That’s good news about Ramsey. A three-QB team? Could be. Or a two-QB powerful enough to keep the Freshman on the bench with a redshirt? If Lawrence commits to us, that won’t be a good thing for that Eason redshirt. We would want to stretch out Eason, Fromm and Lawrence sequentially such that each can get the team for at least one year after Eason, but I’m afraid that would influence Lawrence’s choice against UGA right now.

    Are we getting too rich for our Kool-Aide tastes what with the RBs proliferating along with the QBs and the ILBs and the TEs and the Ss and the linemen and…….?

    The very first clip I ever saw of Holyfield’s highlights, my immediate thought was that he reminded me of Moreno. Not necessarily great top end speed, but quick through the hole and elusive. I’m excited about him.

    I understand everyone wants Eason to play and succeed, but the stats about first year QBs in the SEC previously posted are pretty telling.

    Ramsey would be a bright spot and provide a higher ceiling for this season than Lambert likely would, given Ramsey’s stronger arm/greater downfield threat.

    If Chaney could make Crompton and other less talented QBs into decent starters in a short span of time, I maintain high hopes as to what he can do with Ramsey.

      As others have posted I am hopeful. Chaney has improved QBs, Schuman has broken the system down at Bama in such a way that college kids can execute it. We shall see. I am with the others that believe Schott stunted Ramsey’s growth. My other feeling is that it would be more likely to teach Ramsey to make smart throws than for Lambert not to crack under pressure.

            Mostly just making fun of the weird logic you guys trout out to support your ideas.

            It is easier to teach Ramsey to not throw interceptions than it is to teach Lambert to be more aggressive.

            Implicit in that statement is that Lambert’s not throwing interceptions is viewed as a bug, where Ramsey throwing interceptions is viewed as a feature because you think it is easier to teach him to not do it. Ramsey’s interceptions are a net positive for you because you like Ramsey.

            Lambert’s lack of interceptions is an issue because you dont like Lambert.

            It is among the dumbest football logic you can have, but you proudly typed it all up and posted it on the internet.

    So I see it said a lot that if you start a freshman QB, you can kill his confidence and “lose” him for a while. This strikes me as folklore. Yes, the kid may struggle, but if you’re getting him to work incrememntally on little things it seems like it can work. Like when Stafford finally “saw the light” against Auburn in 2006 and threw the ball away, that was the culmination of bunch of prior lessons.

    If it’s true that playing bad can kill confidence and you need experience to get better, why would sitting a kid freshman year help. Wouldn’t you “lose” him sophomore year when he struggles from inexperience too?

    The two cases of our QBs sitting a long time before playing in the past 15 years are DJ and Hutson. But DJ got a LOT of pt during his prior 3 years. And Hutson struggled during his first two games in 2013 when AM went down.

    I don’t buy the theory that you can permanently damage a kid by playing him too early.
