Winning, Boom style

He’s got Derek Mason right where he wants him.

Yeah, because if he had a reliable starting quarterback, that would be so bad.

It’s paradoxical that we actually need Cackylaca to get better. We need them to at least be a positive input on the SOS when bowl bids are going out. With Vandy, it doesn’t matter…you never feel good about beating them, and you never get credit for it (unless you’re DeBoomer) but it really sucks to lose to them. If we’re allowed to dream, I’ll dream the impossible one..that the Gamcocks beat everyone in the East except Georgia. That wold be nice..but I’ll settle for them sneaking up on Tennessee or Florida.

    • Yea, but I’d love to Vandy beat ’em!

If I could have my wish, longterm I’d rather get my SOS brownie points from Vandy , Mizzou and Kentucky than the Vowels, the Lizards, or the Smelly Tools. They’re farther away from us, compete less with us for prospects, and have less tradition than TN or FL at least. It would take a lot of changes for that to happen to be sure, but there’s no inherent reason Vandy couldn’t become the Stanford of the East, or that Kentucky couldn’t catch fire recruiting the Midwest. Mizzou has already shown it can compete.

I’d settle for them getting better enough to beat Tennessee and Florida. Other than that, I will sleep like a baby if they should lose every other game.

If you want some high comedy, go to Fighting Gamecocks Forum. The clucking on there would have you believe Will is going to have them ready for an SEC East run this year.

I wonder what the over/under is on how many games Will gets thrown out of for having two personal foul penalties called on him?

The irony in all of this — from my perspective anyway — is that SCU fans how no clue just how brutal the next 4-5 years (maybe longer) will be for them. They think Boom might take his lumps a bit this year then immediately propel SCU to a 10-11 win program yearly. And as for last year, well, that 3-9 season didn’t really count, as SOS quit on them not even halfway through the season; thus they merely were a rudderless ship.

SCU is going to be a mediocre at best program for quite a number of years to come, with some years being a train wreck. The writing is clearly written on the wall, yet SCU fans absolutely refuse to pay attention to it.

    • USCe has always been a mediocre program. Even when they were winning, they only had 1 east division to show for it. With the reemergence of Clemson, they have to face the fact that they’re going to play 2nd fiddle for a long time in the Palmetto State.

Got a friend who was at the last South Carolina scrimmage. He asked my Gamecock buddy if he had a boat, and that if he did it would be a great idea to go fishing a lot on Saturday this fall.

The Jimmys and the Joes. SCar was ranked at or near the bottom of every position group in ESPN’s recent SEC rankings. Boom just doesn’t matter right now.
