- ESPN asked some SEC players to name which away stadiums were the most hostile for opposing teams. Nobody mentioned Sanford.

- Georgia is 16th in the current Massey College Football Ranking Composite. Look closely, though, and you’ll see the Dawgs are all over the map in rankings.
- The most favorable of those 43 is Brian Fremeau’s FEI (6th). In his 2016 game projections, he has Georgia only having one game with less than a 50% chance to win — Ole Miss.

Sorry to disappoint fellow Dawg fans, but Sanford is not an intimidating place. Sure we can get “loud” on 3rd down. But it just isn’t raucous like I’ve experienced in Jordan-Hare or Neyland.

The other reality, put yourself in the shoes of our visitors and imagine their first impressions. “Dayum, this place is really nice”. My biased opinion is that anyone from anywhere would ride through campus and immediately feel comfortable and satisfied. It’s just too damn nice.

Sanford can be loud, when the game calls for it. It’s not terribly loud for noon kickoffs against cupcakes or Kentucky or Vandy or a weak Tennessee team. LSU in ’13, Clemson in ’14, quite a few Auburn games immediately come to mind when I think of loud games in Sanford.
Sanford hasn’t been an intimidating place for a while mostly because Georgia hasn’t been too intimidating of a team for a while.

If we have 1 loss or less and UT is in the hunt, that could easily be the CBS game and the place will be crazy loud.

Great read on Jonas Jennings. The program and staff Kirby’s put together keeps on impressing. This off season has been very successful for our first time HC. Gotta be psyched about the attention to detail paying off when the games begin.

I look back at CMR and was always proud of the fact that he took an interest in his players and wanted them to develop into good men and not just be football players, but at the same time, it’s becoming clear to me that he couldn’t do all that and coach and have time with his family. So, when he had a ‘bye’ week game like Vandy, it probably didn’t get the attention it needed and we got embarrassed even if we managed a win.
I believe CKS watched what Nick does and saw the value in support staff. At first I thought all the people he was hiring was a waste of money – how much could these people do? But I am beginning to see how important it is for the kind of program we want, and Jonas is a prime example.

The best part of Fremeau’s probability chart is looking at Ga. Tech’s chance’s . He is giving Tech a better chance of beating Clemson than UGA…..me likey. Avoid the rush hate Tech early

By the way, Georgia has appeared in the top 10 in five decades: the 1910s, 1920s, 1980s, 2000s and 2010s. The Dawgs just fired the coach responsible for two of those five runs. Just wanted to point that out.
Not trying to stir the pot again. I admired Richt the person, and liked Richt the coach a lot. Having bled Red & Black since I got my scholarship to attend UGA in the 90’s, there is just simply no way to discount what Richt has done. He is the most consistent winner in program history. Yes, he was a few hard luck/hard choice/questionable moments away from multiple national title opportunities. That’s something that Dooley could only achieve with the greatest single player in CFB history, and even then it took ol’ lady luck smiling down on us a few time.
All to say the obvious – Richt has certainly set the table of expectations for our new coach.
Kirby was a player my freshman year, and liked him then. I still bleed Red & Black. So, except for how he handled the A.J. Turman transfer, I like everything I have heard or read about him as a head coach and person so far. So I am 100% on the Coach Smart train, and look forward to him taking to program to yet higher levels of success. From all the details that have been shown since the transition, and from seeing the respect he and his staff have so quickly engendered from the current team and its future prospects, there is no reason to think he can’t be incredibly successful at UGA. I would love nothing more.

I am challenging that statement as misleading if not completely wrong. Butts’ 1942 team got 6 votes for No. 1 (polling was different then, but that has to be top 10) and he won SEC championships through the 40s and as late as 1959 – those should qualify as top 10 finishes, and Dooley won the SEC in 66, 68 and 76 before HW was a freshman in HS. So actually, there’s a pretty good argument that we’ve had top 10 finishes every decade since 1910 except maybe the 30s and 90s, and Goff had a couple of good teams that couldn’t beat UF but may have a top 10 finish.
I’d say the expectations have been there for a while, with or without CMR.
