What flexibility sounds like

Whatever else Kirby Smart might be, stubbornly dumb ain’t part of it.

Hence, the offensive game plan against Tennessee.

And as far as the warning about quarterback pressures goes, that was happening anyway.

    Vandy noon.

Kirby, Chaney and Pittman showed me something Sat and if it continues, we have some fine Dawg football in the future. They changed things such that their words of encouragement beginning weeks ago sunk in as evidence of truth for coaches and player struggles based upon factual evidence, not from partaking in Kool-Aid. I’m now looking forward to better times this year and next.

Senator, when do we get the blurb on red-shirts like Cleveland (?), Ledbetter (?) Mecole Hardman, and others plus get a view of what can be put together for next year with current recruits? I think that is a pick-me-up blog that’s waiting for the backs of our minds to participate in and supplies the gravy to put on top of this mashed potatoes season going forward. A crescendo celebration during the FU game would make my year with this team what with the rise in our team’s play that can be perfected by that game against a team that I don’t rate very high and that has been sailing on media excuses. Right now, I feel that we should take their ass.

“Everybody on the field executed their job,” Smart said. “We got a little boxed out by the big guy. But it wasn’t like you could watch the play and say, This guy didn’t do what I told him to do. We got out-jumped, and the guy timed his jump a lot better than we did, which I think everybody saw.”

Safeties Dominick Sanders and Quincy Mauger were “in position,” Smart added, and were just out-jumped by Jennings, who is listed at 6-foot-3.

Lorenzo Carter, Georgia’s 6-foot-6 outside linebacker who started the play in the back of the end zone – as he was supposed to be – ended up being blocked out by his own teammates.”

    • Sometimes it’s your turn to lose. The f up was on the kick coverage and letting Berry get 20 yards. Make the tackle sooner and Dobbs never get the ball to the endzone.

Whatever. Whose job was it to step on Jenning’s foot? That guy blew it.

Hell, mug him as he’s coming down. 15 yard penalty, UT tries the field goal, if they make it we still have overtime.

True or not, I’d rather hear Kirby say this than complain publicly about a player. Hopefully he revises that hail Mary strategy for the future as it obviously doesn’t work.

I, for one, would like to see our OT’s beat on the inside some too. Variety is the spice of life..

Why would you put your guys on the back line of the goal? We lost because we had nobody between the passer and the receiver. If the receiver can reach over our defender and snatch the ball then good on him but the UT receiver only had to worry about guys behind him. We boxed ourselves out of the play. Our DB’s must get coaching from Mark Fox on how to screw up a defense. It will remain the dumbest play of the year, I hope.

    Very relieved to hear that.

that seems a little different than his post game comments, but I could be wrong.

Glad to hear he’s not stubbornly sticking to the smash mouth theme. I was worried he was incapable of change, but Saturday showed lots of flexibility/creativity. Use what you’ve got in the manner that suits it best until you can get what you want.

Agreed — that last point is key.

Kirby is learning on the job with a roster that has some serious holes in it.

  9. In other news, looks like Strong is out…

As 69 dawg noted in a previous post, It does look possible Matthew is going to come ashore in the general vicinity of the South Carolina coast on Sunday or Monday, but could bring significant rain as far inland as Columbia on Saturday according NOAA and Weather Underground’s hurricane expert, Jeff Masters.

    Could get interesting.

Well on that note, he’s already proven to be better than Will Muschamp at Florida.

It may be off topic a bit, but this situation reminds me of when we beat bama with that late pass to Mikey Henderson. Of course, we got the W that game. But we treated water before and after that game. Meanwhile, the handwriting was on the wall that bama would be back, and much tougher. We were just a temporary bump in the road on their way to much bigger things.
