With an undersized O line Richt had 1000 yard rushers with his zone blocking schemes.
Chubb was used as a blocking fb against Vandy…had less than 50 yd?…one game it was 33?
People point to THE VANDY LOSS and compare it to Saban upset by Loui-Monroe. I like to point out we almost lost to a 55 point underdog Nichols. ..and Saban beat Both the Hillbillies and Vandy his first season and in fact has never lost to any team from that hillbilly state?
Stubborn Smart running Saban power game without Saban sized OL reminds me of the mess Chomp made of Florida’s Offense. Reminds me of Richt changing up qbs and not changing the game plan to suit his talents. Guy didn’t have a chance. Hope he sees some playing time with Bobo.

Bauta isn’t playing for Colorado State. He completed 12 passes in limited duty over the first two games and has only played once since. Bobo is 11-10 so far at CSU and the natives are getting restless. They are only beating the worst teams on their schedule. This year, their victims have been UT-San Antonio, Northern Colorado, Utah State and UNLV.
Bauta doesn’t have any “special talents” that we could have taken advantage of in last year’s UF game. Just a desperate, irrational move by Richt that was totally unfair to Bauta considering how little he’d played prior to that game.
Kirby is what he is – he’s in over his head every bit as much as Bobo at this point and will need to bring in a lot of elite talent quickly to overcome that.

You do realize McElwain left after his senior laden class, including the QB had set a school record don’t you? No one expected a quick repeat above the norm for this program, don’t know where you get your information. I have friends in the area, there is no issue with “restless natives” except the usual loonies aged 12-24 that exist in every fan base. Look at the whack jobs we have at UGA who think we should be Bama with UGA rules. Bobo is fine, and hardly above his head, but it doesn’t mean that a slump couldn’t cause a bull rush by influential fans with an agenda. We have first and experience with that, and we are not alone.

You do realize that the whole “changed from a zone blocking scheme” is a meme perpetuated by the AJC so that people can identify those who do not understand football but instead purport BS memes they read on the internet, right?
There has been no change in blocking schemes. The blocking scheme is dependent on the play called not on who the coach is.

While not always true here are some clues to identify the scheme in the first second of the play:
1. If one or more linemen pull it is a gap scheme
2. If there is a lead blocker or a trap block it is a man scheme
3. If all the linemen slide laterally it is a zone scheme.
4. When in doubt, it was probably zone
Please stop with this meme, people. It makes you look stupid. It is 10 times worse than just bitching about “the play calling” as this meme is patently false.

I commented several times to my friend during the Vandy game at our linemen utilizing cut blocking on the edges. Maybe it’s not a blocking technique but an offensive philosophy of power ball and clock control rather than, as some used to term Richt’s offenses, “finesse”.

While you have shown the ability to “copy and paste”, your reading comprehension is lacking. I keep typing this, but y’all don’t seem to understand. Blocking schemes are play dependent. I will repeat that. Blocking schemes are play dependent. Richt, Bobo, Schotty, and Chaney all called plays that used zone, man, and gap schemes in every game I can remember. When there is a pulling linemen, the play by definition is not zone blocking.
By your logic Richt, Bobo, and Schotty never called an iso or a lead draw (Richt’s two bread and butter run plays before handing play-calling duties to Bobo). Linemen never pulled. It was all just an illusion.
Here is a link to Georgia’s offensive playbook from 2004. There are man, zone, and gap plays in there. Starting from the beginning they are: man, man, gap, zone, zone, gap, man, etc.

This idea of a change in blocking scheme is simply mass hallucination by the ignorant. The problem with dealing with those who are ignorant is that they don’t have enough of an understanding to realize they are talking out of their ass. There has been no change in blocking shemes; this is simply a change in attitude. Richt was fine with mediocre line play so long as they held their block long enough. Kirby wants his linemen to bury the defense’s dicks in the dirt.

Faton is third string in Fort Collins.
The game plan last year had no chance of being successful.
It was truly the most bizarre decision I’ve seen since I started watching UGA football.
If we don’t turn the ball over and don’t have ST meltdowns, then we can play close with Florida and have a chance in the 4th quarter. If we turn it over or fumble a punt on the 1 (again, wtf 2015), we will get boat raced. Our margin for error and doing stupid things is razor thin.

Florida ran 4 plays for about 500 yards on the ground and we gave up a fake field goal to a Publix bag boy.
We lost that game because Florida started punching back and we didn’t feel like fighting. Missing Gurley had nothing to do with it.

Of course the Gurley absence was a factor, what are you smoking? Was it the only factor? Of course not, and no one ever said it was. Can’t you guys ever stay sane when discussing the past? Silliness, continual crapping on yourselves. Gurley was a team leader, and mentor. There was much confusion over what was going on with his punishment, what BM was doing for him, and why this punishment was so different than others for more sever things.

It’s not why they lost. That team, sans Gurley, was head and shoulders above a Florida team staring Treon Harris. They lost because they didn’t feel like getting their hands dirty once Florida decided to fight back.

No one, especially me, ever said ANY of that. Read my post. But to say “missing Gurley had nothing to do with it” is not justy wrong, it is absurd. The guy wasn’t just the best running back in America, he was the team leader, heart and soul, he was a factor on STs, and his situation was more of a story in every article/report than was the game itself…it was a major distraction. And it kept a player off the field and sideline that could have rallied the troops. His absence on the field, and off the sideline, was a factor. We can debate the degree of significance but we cannot deny that Gurley was often a difference maker, leaders lead.

I don’t bet on games other a 4-game parlay when I visit Vegas on a business trip. I never bet on games where I have a rooting interest. I hate to say it, but Florida -7 looks attractive.

No, if you will recall I was all for CMR leaving. I have been negative about this particular Georgia program ever since I realized that the B-M suits hired Ray Goff II to be the new HC. I was actually supportive of CKS until he lost to Ole Piss in blowout fashion and was quoted as saying all that “knock em back” nonsense instead of using his players with talent wisely. Face it, B-M blew the hire which is what a whole bunch of us on this blog (including the Senator) publicly stated we were afraid would happen. CKS is an empty suit and we will have to put up with this sh!t for 3-4 years at least until the clamor gets so great that B-M has to act. Then they’ll blow the next hire in all likelihood. Pardon me for being a bit testy but I am getting pretty old and don’t have the luxury of waiting 15 years for B-M to get the hire right.

No, I didn’t really go all in on the Kirby hire. He wasn’t my first choice. But he’s here now, I’m going to give him more than 7 games before I gloss him “Goff II”.
More than anything else, UGA needs better talent right now. I trust Kirby’s track record to bring it in.

How ever you want to phrase it, it comes down to whether we can impose Nick Chubb on the other team. With 6 four star linemen, we should be able to assemble an OL that can let the man work. All Chaney has to do is keep them honest. It shouldn’t be this hard.

or maybe Vegas thinks enough die hard Kirby supporters will take the points to keep from moving the line. The line is only there to attempt to equalize the amount on money on both sides, and has very little to do with who VEGAS thinks will win the game, or by how much. It’s all about who they think BETTORS think will win the game, and by how much. If the people, regardless of affiliation, think UGA is currently a dumpster fire who will get slammed by Florida, and start betting that way, the line will move accordingly

Sure, and if the market were small, that could absolutely happen. In Vegas it doesn’t work that way, because there is, for all intents and purposes, an infinite pool of money that is constantly searching for any line that is influenced by dumb wagers (zealots and doomsayers, as you say). The effect is that the dumb money has zero influence on the line. They can bet as much as they like, and the elite professionals will happily correct their mistake by taking the other side.

I’m almost always the optimist in my circle of friends. At , least as far as the Dawgs go. Right now, and based on what I’ve seen so far this year, staying within 7 of FU seems out of reach. I just see nothing to put my faith/hope in so far.

I get that this has been a frustrating season, but the extreme pessimism is weird to me. Georgia beat a pretty good North Carolina team and was on the verge of beating a pretty good Tennessee team. As Jekyll and Hyde as they’ve been, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they play fairly well against Florida and have a chance to win. It’s not as if Florida is great. If I were a gambler, I wouldn’t touch this game.

Early line last week had UGA +9 but must have fund some UGA believers if it opened at +7. I think it will go higher, but I think UGA should have a good shot at this one straight up. Will take UGA at +7 or higher unless we get bad news on the linebackers. You guys have FU on a huge pedestal, and I don’t see why. They have struggled all year and the offense is no threat. Low scoring, close game is what I am seeing at this point.

The FUers should cover that with room to spare. Unfortunately. We obviously don’t have the athletes to compete with powerhouses like we’ll face in Jax. We also don’t get effort from these lackluster excuses for SEC athletes. We’re also extremely young. All of this, however, lends itself to a future powerhouse program once these young fawns grow in the magic powerplant that is the process.
