I have been around on and off. Florida might make it to Atlanta. And if that happens, Florida probably won’t beat Alabama. And the SEC East is once again a bit of a dumpster fire. Yet through all that, hopefully Florida fans are the only fans that will not wonder, with as bad as the SEC east is, why their coach could not take them to the top.

FU wins the East only by process of elimination. UT sucks and has now been exposed. The fact that UT beat FU speaks volumes about how good FU really is. Georgia is in a transition year. Kentucky and Vandy have never won the East and don’t have the players to. Mizzou also is in transition and has really fallen on hard times. FU by default.

Yet with all that, here is Florida on the verge of a second straight SEC East Title. Much to the delight of Florida fans. And Georgia fans and Tennessee fans wonder why, with the SEC East so bad, why their teams have not managed that very thing?
Somebody has to win it. Might as well be Florida.

I thought about this too as it happened and like you felt WTF? Then I considered two lines of thinking:
they’d have to run a play and could fumble, so a teachable moment that the game is never over until it’s over
the Process wants every opportunity to practice, because “it’s about how we practice, not if we win the game” to paraphrase CKS quote from earlier in the week.
Guess we’ll see how this mentality takes over the program in a few years. Or if.

Well alums we have a very big oroblem in the football program at our univeristy.
We have been walked back into the late ’50s and early 60’s. We are at the ’63 crisis moment when certain people had had enough and could see the program stalled and going away.
Granted the talent on offense is very bad, but the current staff is worst.
There has been no improvement in play. The record, the stats, and overall attitude of the team shows Kirby is not the answer.
He knows it now. You can see it in his face and hear it in his voice.
Make the changes now.
Plus take this game out of Jax.
Why. It is a travel game. Now this team goes to Kentucky.
Start using Sanford and stop all these road games.
Boom has passed Smart and that worthless AD.

you mean the talent like Chubb, Sony Michel, Holyfield and Herrien? Or the 4 TEs who were supposed to be so talented and versatile (2 of whom were pretty good last year, too)? Or I Mac and Godwin, who were also pretty explosive last year? Or the top QB in the country? That kind of no talent on O? I admit our OL isn’t the greatest ever, but they did pretty well most of the time last year. Did they suddenly forget how to play?
I don’t know what the problem is, exactly, but I know it isn’t that we have zero offensive talent. We certainly have zero offensive production, but that’s a different issue.

He was coaching. I’m am sure you have heard of it. We have had little of it at UGA in 15 years. I love your blog but your recent dogging of the new coaching staff is what is mind numbing. Did you rail his holiness like this when he first started? If you need content talk about Jacob Fromm or the recruits Kirby is putting together to fix the mess that Sir 9 and 3 left behind.

At that point, you get the hell off the field and coach in the film room on Monday. If Kirby had done that with the OBS or Corch on the sideline, the next play would have been run to the end zone. He’s very fortunate that Jim Bob Duggar seems to be a classy guy.

First, let me apologize for allowing my frustration to affect my fingers yesterday.
(Homes, that was for you.) 😀
While I do understand the frustration with the coaching staff, I would like to point out that the way ahead is grossly complicated by changing the staff.
In fact, the visible reason we fired the previous administration was staff changes that did not produce the results expected.
While it was nice to have hope about beating Florida, it was a very long shot and we shoulda known that.
Florida’s defense is very, very good, especially at creating mayhem in the the passing game. Florida’s defense has been very, very good at that all year. Florida’s offense is not going to light up any scoreboards, but it is a reasonably efficient compliment to Florida’s defense. And, Florida’s special teams and kicking game is, overall, the best we have seen…yet (Auburn, cough, cough), and oh my God, Kentucky.
I had no idea it would get this bad. I figured we would get beat on rookie head coach mistakes a couple times, but overall we would be a decent Georgia team.
What I am saying, I guess, is that this football team has problems everywhere, in all facets of the game…hell, our punt game has given up at least ten yards of field position to every team we have played, for instance.
Oh and did I mention we are starting a freshman quarterback who, while having displayed a world of talent from time to time (even yesterday) is still a freshman quarterback.
If our freshman quarterback was playing behind a world-class offensive line, he might be having a good bit more success, but he is not playing behind a world-class offensive line.
To start hollering about firing this or that assistant seems to me to be counterproductive to the process.
We dug this hog waller, we just gotta flop around in it for a while.

The thing is, we could see these problems form the very beginning. The OL and kicking game did not appear to be D1 level. But they haven’t improved, that’s the big thing. Well, maybe Blankenship. All the rest, especially the OL…just as bad as at the start of the year. No one on this offense can block, apparently, and that includes the TEs and WRs.

Not division 1 level? You think Shorter College’s oline could match our oline’performance in SEC play? As poor as ours has been it is beyond belief that anyone would say we could swap olines with Shorter or Valdosta State and would be no worse.

I don’t disagree, but I do think when you say “we” saw these problems you might want to acknowledge that “we”, apparently, are a minority.
For the 973rd time, anyone who put this team in a pre-season or 1-game into the season, top ten is a complete, utter idiot. And anybody who believed that horseshit…well…
I know, for instance that Kevin Butler is back in school to finish the degree he did not finish, thank you very much Kevin, and is working with the punters and kickers. His work with Blankenship seems to be helping, with the punters, not so much, exactly, or at least I have not seen much if any improvement from Long.
I have no explanation for the blocking problems, I suspect there really is not an explanation, although the offensive line does have a new staff, and creating an offensive line is an artform. Clearly this painting is not ready for MOMA.
Sometime this week I may try to go back and take a look at Arkansas’ situation when Pittman came in there. Maybe Pittman is a painter more in the mold of Titian than Jackson Pollock.
The thing you gotta get ready to deal with is that it looks to me as if things will get worse.
At least we probably won’t have to worry about bowl preparation getting in the way of recruiting.

I was more surprised when we went for it on 4th down near midfield with about 10 min. left in the game. Was not at all surprised when we didn’t make it.

You’ve got to hand it to the “Process” it’s a lot like watching hot dogs being made,it’s not pretty. We not only don’t know why our offense sucks but we can’t hear from the offensive coordinator, because of the “Process”. I know I have heard from lots of folks on this blog about the freshman QB but if you look around FBS football we probably have statistically the worst true freshman QB. Sure his Oline is bad but even on the TV you can see him throwing to a receiver that is covered while there are open guys in the same screen shot. Now this leads to a choice of two conclusions. Either he is given a play and is told to throw to his primary, because of the rush or he just looks to his primary and locks on. I’m convinced that he is not given the ability to change a call at the line either that or he is awful at doing it. We line up in that 3 TE set and the defense loads up the box. We then run right at it. No audible at all. We might as well kick on 3rd down like the 1930’s because we are playing that kind of football. The Kid is getting Happy Feet and who would blame him. When he breaks and rolls he is cutting his receiver’s in half. I’m out of thoughts but this is not the kind of football I want to watch much anymore.
One last thing if we get an all new Oline next year it will be no better than this year because of the learning curve on the new guys. Olines take time to train.

Could it be they were reenforcing to the defense that ‘It’s not over until the clock reads 0.0?’ The D could have easily slacked off for those last few seconds and Florida could have put it in the end zone again.

After 4 straight 10 win seasons & top 10 recruiting years, It appears to me that winning 6 games & going to a Bowl should be a reachable goal.
