Uncle Verne reminisces about the Cocktail Party.

I’m not surprised this is his favorite moment.

Love that sly reference to Corch at the end.

Would it be too much to ask, Dawgs, if you could send him out today on an up note?

Few recall that something really awful almost occurred at that point of the game. All the focus is on the celebration and it’s aftermath with a double penalty (really mean-spirited), but it was not for certain we scored on that play. It was reviewed, and Moreno did get the ball across the line (barely), but imagine if he was short and we had gotten a 30 yard penalty and forced to run the next play from the 31 yard line. That pre-mature celebration would have been one of CFB’s all time screw ups, and I doubt we would have recovered and won the game.

  2. That game was the one where I believed we were getting ready to turn the tide in the Cocktail Party. Alas, it wasn’t to be.
