Kirby, the young men of the Georgia football program have already had their lives impacted by a great man who loved them. You were brought here to win football games. You were brought here so we wouldn’t even NEED 4th and 1 against Vanderbilt and so that I’d be more interested in the 4th quarter of the Cocktail Party than I was in returning text messages Saturday at Everbank Field.

I am so disappointed in Dog In FL. He promised “Global War on Kirby” updates after the WLOCP and now the Senator has launched the first wave of the attacks with no response.
He must be in Miami handling CMR’s new 5 year plan propaganda.

I, too, am disappointed in myself. I promised to make a Global War on Kirby attack. I did not deliver. It’s all on me. However, by way of putting responsibility on somebody else, let me just say that my lack of focus in executing a Global War on Kirby attack when he can’t mount any type of offense himself is unseemly especially when he’s busy impacting young men’s lives through adversity about which either he or his players, or both, are learning something because look out, the Germans are coming in a two-pronged pre-Belk Bowl attack against Kirby in Athens and Mark ‘We’ve lost four in a row, but we haven’t lost our fight’ in Coral Gables

Actually, I should have understood this in advance. Your absence, though greatly missed by some, is an example of “leading from behind”. No more Global Intervention, but instead quietly doing nothing to further an agenda of peace through abstinence. Well played, sir. 😉

As I have posted this weekend or alluded to, there is something wrong with this man. I thought he was crying and whinning when talking with Chuck Dowdle. No this statement.
Add to it the problem is not the offensive line. Well, he could be partially right on that. But every fan and sports commentator would take exception to that. May Kirby needs to talk to the Vandy and Gators defensive lineman for he makes that comment.
Sorry, but I think our alleged football program or battleship left the stadium the day those 93,000 walked out. They just did not know it then. But they do now.

You know, Kirby deserves some slack. Look at the talent gap between our program and the likes of Ole Miss, Mizzou, Vandy, Nicholls…
Oh, never mind. I can’t complete that sentence without laughing out loud. But I do enjoy reading it here in the comments after each loss. Helps ease the discouragement of this season to have a good chuckle.

He needs to take what he has learned and be himself….not Saban, Richt or anyone else. Could be some of the issue. But I got where IDNGAS anymore….maybe that is strong, just kind of numb to it all.

Kirby has no reason right now to know exactly who he is. He’s gonna’ find out a lot sooner than he expected. Then we’ll know what kind of coach he is. Right now he’s following somebody else’s blueprint for another place.

While disappointed in this season and frustrated with the lack of prgress from this team, I have no room to complain. I wanted change. I wanted Richt fired. So, time to take my medicine. Who knows? Maybe we will see this squad turn a new leaf this weekend vs Kentucky!

Oh, don’t get me wrong…I am glad that a change was made. I am one fan willing to wander in the wilderness until the ship is righted. We were going nowhere fast under the previous staff, as evident by the empty cupboards left behind. I just have to suck it up during this down period. As Debby said, I wanted Richt gone long before 2015.

Skeptic can speak for himself, but I believe he always thought the program would get an upgrade with a similarly experienced head coach to the previous guy.
As a person who wasn’t keen on the change because I thought the athletic establishment would screw it up, I’m not ready to throw in the towel for obvious reasons 8 games in. I still believe Kirby can be the guy we all hoped he would be when he won the press conference last December. He made a mistake by going back to Tuscaloosa for the playoff, but I understand his loyalty to Saban and his players. He issued the #93Day challenge to the Bulldog Nation and we responded like I never thought we would. He’s killing it on the recruiting trail. He is trying to change the program to his vision and he’s finding out it’s hard. He unnecessarily trashed some good in the program (removing helmet stickers & the change to the Dawg Walk are a couple of outward examples). He made one really questionable coordinator hire and what appears to be an awful choice for special teams. I want the guy to be successful because he’s the coach of my alma mater and the team I’ve been a fan for as long I remember. I don’t want to wander in the wilderness like our neighbors to the north still appear to be. We want you to get it done. Attack the Day, Kirby!

EE, I was rooting for an experienced HC. However, I was excited about Kirby and I still am. You are correct, 8 games in is far too early to through the towel in. Kirby is attempting to lay the foundation for the program the he wants and believes in. Georgia just does not have the players to fit his system/style. Hopefully we will see the fruits of his labor in the next year or two. Kirby has a vested interest in the success of the Dawgs and the University of Georgia. He will succeed! GATA!

I am tired of UGA being the classroom for OJT first-time head coaches.
If we are truly a top level program, we deserved to hire a HEAD COACH-not a trainee.

Who can blame him? Its lines like that will buy you at least 15 years of good will and a very devoted following who will make excuses for bad hires and repeated embarrassing performances. I would say he could use all of that about right now.

That along with 2 SEC championships, 3 other SEC championship game appearances, 3 Sugar Bowl appearances including 2 wins, multiple top 10 finishes, the highest winning percentage for the number of games coached at the school, and dominance of 3 of our biggest 4 rivals … without all of those accomplishments the previous guy would have been out in 5 years.

Fine, just give the new guy a roster that includes two redshirt freshmen on par with Greene and Pollack and players like Damien Gary, Terrence Edwards, Ben Watson, Randy McMichael, Stinchcomb, Kevin Breedlove, Boss Bailey, Bruce Thorton, Tony Gilbert, Jermain Phillips, Johnathan Sullivan, and Billy Bennett. Without all of those things the previous guy would’ve been out in 5 years.
You give the new guy a roster like that and I would bet he delivers a little better out the gate. But on second thought, I guess the SEC isn’t as competitive now as it was back then so a cupboard consisting of a true freshman QB new to a pro-style offense, ginger avengers Kublanow and Pyke, Patriot league all-star Tyler Catalina, home run threat Reggie Davis and a lockdown corner like Juwan Briscoe is now considered “stocked”. I guess we do have Chubb and Sony, do you think its too late to teach them the tackle or guard spots?
Sorry to paraphrase a comment i made earlier but i felt like it is warranted here as well.
Half of the fan base, who is only responsible for showing up in Athens, drinking, and yelling “go dawgs” 6-7 times a year, has been pouting since December. Why would you think the older players, who were recruited by and endeared to the previous coach, would automatically jump on board and play their hearts out for the new guy with the dusty rings? I guess this summer the coaching staff will have to introduce catchy phrases like “get on the bus” and “energy vampires” to get people on board like last time we lost 6 games.

For the record, I still love Coach Richt for everything he did for UGA but I can’t stand the fact that since the new guy isn’t him, he will never get a fair shot in a lot of people’s eyes even though he is obviously currently hobbled in how he wants to coach.
Also, much like when someone dies you only talk about how great they were back in the day because it isn’t polite to talk about their deficiencies or massive debt they left their family with, same with the situation UGA currently finds itself in.

I didn’t want Richt gone, but that doesn’t mean I want Kirby to fail. Too many people on this board seem to think it is one or the other, and that is just not so. I don’t think the folks who didn’t want Richt gone are pouting or gloating; so many of us have been put off by the folks who seem to have to tear Richt down to build Kirby up. I’m more than willing to give Kirby time and watch him learn on the job just like Richt did. But I’m also wondering why McGarity still has a job. He butchered the firing, he screwed up the hiring, his other coaches in the big sports haven’t won shit and he didn’t fire any of those coaches. I know he is going to retire soon so they won’t fire him, I just hope they hire a better AD and Kirby survives it all.

This times as a bazillion. Just because I was, and am, an admirer of Mark Richt as a coach and as a man doesn’t mean I want Kirby Smart to to fail. To assume the latter based on the former is ridiculously flawed logic.

Hank you. Folks such as you and me have had to put up with that nonsense about hoping UGA would fail because our loyalties were with Richt. I paid money to the Hartman Fund and bought season tickets in 2016 as I have for years and I do not do that and travel 4 hours round trip to enjoy watching us lose.

As someone who did not want Richt gone and felt he could and again win SEC titles and a National championship I support Kirby and hope the fan base does not desert him and our team. I did not expect them to struggle this much and really hate it for Nick and Sony. I will be in Sanford Stadium cheering loudly for our offense and making noise for the defense. Now is not the time for apathy we are the 12th man. Suck it up and and support the team. GO DAWGS!!!

If only they….JC and Chili…. had been this silent before they got (along with McGarity an our various liquor distributors) our awful 10-3 Coach fired. Now some anti-Richt poster will either accuse me of being out of touch with reality if I think Richt could have won with these players( for the record I am certain he would have been better than 4-4) or wanting KIrby to fail .
This was all so predictable it is utterly painful. Kirby is not capable of turning this ship around. Too much to learn and too little time to learn it. The crystal ball says we lose McGarity first but replace that loser with some equally pathetic administrator from within the Athletic Dept and that 2-3 years after that this AD in order to save his or her job will fire Kirby.
Great story from trip back from J-ville. Stopped off at Fresh Air on the way back to ATL picked up 2 lbs for later. On the way out the door there was a table of 60 something old dawgs eating their BBQ sandwiches in silence. As I walked out the door I said ,to no one in particular, that 10 and 3 looks pretty darn good right now . Before I could make it to the front door the table just erupted into an argument with half the table agreeing and the other half being totally pissed.

A fair reading of my post would infer that I meant them and people of their ilk. People with certitude and both the time and inclination to post negative thoughts ad nauseum.. Sound and fury signifying nothing….they were merely the most prolific of that ilk . Many of us just got tired of pushing back against their vitriol and let them be the idiot on the stage referred to in Shakespeare ‘s sound and fury quote. I was only echoing lakedawg’s inquiry as to where are they now. If they had all the answers then why not now? YMMV.
