The most 2016-ish key to the game I can come up with

It’s not supposed to be like this.

Eight games in, Kentucky, despite being outscored in conference and overall play, leads Georgia in the division and, unlike Georgia, can clinch a bowl berth with a win tonight.

Statistically, Georgia is the better team, but the best way to sum up things is that Kentucky has beaten the teams it should and lost — usually quite convincingly — to the teams it should, while Georgia has not done the same.  So maybe the big question for the game is whether Georgia is a team Kentucky should beat.

  1. We lose tonight and you can pretty much kiss those bowl practices goodbye. I know many of the “if you ain’t first, you’re last” crowd couldn’t care less about the bowl streak, but 20 consecutive bowl games is a pretty darn impressive record for the program in the larger context. By the way, it’s the 3rd longest active streak in the nation and the SEC’s longest active streak. It’s important for recruiting if nothing else for the Ricky Bobby crowd.

I think we lose tonight and again against the ‘barners ( Gus will hAve the Bus detailed and plan to take SOS record for most point’s scored in Athens) . Beat the Cajins. And need to beat the Techster nerds to go 6 and 6. Same nerds that blew up Vandy.

Let me leave this for that Richtophobe crowd. THE ones that complain about dirth of talent.

” Halfway through his 10th campaign at Alabama, coach Nick Saban has put together a ridiculous record of 111-18.

Keep in mind that six of those losses came in 2007, his first year in Tuscaloosa, when he took over a once-proud program THAT HAD JUST FINISHED UNDER .500 FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN A 10 YEAR SPAN. HE WAS FIELDING MIKE SHULA’S PLAYERS.”

Nick (an experienced HC) went 12-0 in 2008. He did not have to recruit for 3 additional years. No one claimed he was winning with SHULA’S players they were his players. And the institutional commitment he had was, is lightyears beyond ours. The state pulls for Nicky…and dare I say some of the state’s economy as well.

Bluto hit the nail on the head. Head Coaching search. We did an On the Job training search…. of one. And paid $ for it.

Count me in the group that wants Kirby as the head coach to be a swift death. Not a Derek Dooley type. Kirby win just enough at 7 wins prob to stick around. Sad that was 10 wins with Richt

Certainly easier to go full on existential nowadays. Tv and internet media pushes the playoff so hard it’s easy for everyone (players, coaches, athletic boosters/board members, alumnus, fans) to get wrapped up in “if you ain’t first, you’re last”. Everything we see or read makes us believe that winning 6-8 games in a season is a complete failure of a season. Then there’s the shallow CMR crowd that thinks anything short of a 10 win season signals firing coaches. It’s all whacked….

CMR’s fans had nothing to do with setting the standard above 10 wins. That was McGarity and the big – money boosters who own him.

Think the players should forget their record and bowl potential.
Each player needs to focus on winnig each play.
Play each down, series, and quarter in winning fashion.
    Be aggressive and focused.
Jake Fromm not in playoff, but will enrolll early.
That gives UGA two young talented QBs.
You might want to think what that means.
    Think Greyson
    Look at the current o-line.
How much experince and size they have.
Winor loss dammit the recruiting is moving
Important. Yes.. For the past three years has been zero

Crazy, but I think this match up favors the Dawgs and that we will win tonight if we show up to play and Chaney gets the hell out of the way. I said if they couldn’t figure out something different for last week after seven games and a bye we probably wouldn’t win another game except ULM at home. Now just one week later, it looks like this one is winnable because of Kentucky’s reliance on the run and that is our position strength. The negative is the night home game (this would have been a noon or 4 PM start if it were in Athens, guaranteed) and the Cats’ attitude that Atlanta is realistically in their grasp. That may be enough to carry the day for them, but I am thinking UGA wins it with the combo of player pride and Kentucky not being any better on offense than we are.

Wouldn’t be a shock if we get stifled again on offense but the Cats are weak against the run and mediocre against the pass. Dawgs should have enough, let’s think positive. Going to watch and record this one because I know there will be more reason to watch more plays in the LSU/Bama game. Will keep the radio on in the background to not miss any big plays…hate to be reduced to this but the spirit has taken too many shots this season. Go Dawgs!!

You realize this is the entire problem this year, correct?

Pretty much, yeah, although the match ups were not as favorable. This could be more like the SC game with them not having the offensive horsepower on offense and us having advantages against their D (assuming Eason hasn’t been drugged as he must have been in Columbia).

I think we have shown up several times, and agree it is Chaney having to accept the primary responsibility for us having no offensive clue. I don’t think we could not have beaten Ole Miss, but we could have scored enough to keep it from being a blowout of that proportion.

Paint a bulldog on top of your bald head inside the visor.
TAKE pictures of yourself. Race around the stadium chasing the game day camera for that photo op moment when you point at your head. After enough photo op moments…we will market you as “Top Dawg Scorp”. WE will set up tents with a big sign and sell your photo as “Top Dog Scorp”. We will even lease a look alike white bulldog and sell pics of you posing with it while pointing at you head.
THEN we will Sell visors with “Top Dawg Scorp”. AND then we will do billboards.

And a note of caution. ..while racing around in the stadium searching for the camera and photo op….Do Not. I repeat Do Not race by a family with the 2 little girls dressed in cute red sundresses with the Bulldog embroidery on the front. DO Not knock her drink out of her hand and splash the feet of daughters and wife. Because that large man sitting next them ( Father/husband?)…will become annoyed and escort you to the concessions stand. And escort you back yout back to apologize to each of those dawg fans. Hell I apologized and I was just an innocent bystander.

Homes, I get the picture, but the likelihood of me running around the stadium…any stadium is not too good.

And, there’s already a bald guy with a bulldog on his noggin…
But he does not have a Kirbyvisor he took a road trip to get.

We shall see tonight if visors rule.

  9. For me the key to the game is to continue building the culture that will transform our past mediocrity into excellence. When CKS is lifting the NC trophy, who is going to remember losing to Kentucky? What the young players will remember was that he instilled an approach to the game, a way of thinking, a process to doing football that wins in the long run. True, he may not be as instinctively quick at getting that done as Saban, but who is? Intuition is easy to underestimate. For tonight, CKS better not back off his commitment to in your face bulldozer football; he does not need to go chasing finesse; forbid it that he takes what Kentucky gives him rather than teaching his players that the new Georgia way is all about imposing your will. Tonight is a beautiful chance to continue teaching this to the players. Besides, if were just going to do adjust and finesse crap, why’d we change coaches?

For all the angst over Chaney, is it possible that the bigger issue for the offense is a true freshman QB who hasn’t come close to mastering the mental aspect of the position? I am far from being an expert on QB play, but I also don’t believe that an experienced offensive coordinator would keep calling the same plays over and over. For all his obvious physical skills, is Eason lacking the ability to audible out of certain plays? Is it possible that’s why the running game was more successful with Lambert under center?

I supported, and still support the decision to play Eason. But we’re paying the price. Hopefully, better times await. But I reserve the right to rant and rave if things go down the crapper in Lexington.

    Insider info alert:

I got an advanced peek at this week’s game plan. It looks like we are going to try to run between the tackles on first and second downs and try using the forward pass on third downs. If this sequence fails to produce 10 yards the plan is to use a punt style kick to gain field position for the defensive series.

I hope no Kentucky coaches are reading this blog this close to kickoff or I may have just tipped of our entire strategy.

Pretty close, until the end when we began slinging it. They are weak against the run so we looked good but again didn’t mix it well. They began to get that we were going to run every 1st down play. When we go to minus 5 per attempt, we began to throw some. But winning ugly beats losing.

Man these guys are trying to screw us….they call i-procedure on us…after missing it and a hold giving KY 7. This is a close game…they just tried to gloss over a fumble by KY and got reversed. But…hey…that’s the SEC and they think Georgia coaches are patsys.
But we’ve killed ourselves tonight…fumbles and bumbles…It’s time for Kirby Smart to do something to make this team,,,
BTW.,..Blankenship just nailed a 49 yarder and Mooseburger almost choked trying to say “GOOD”…it was more like “g..ud”. When Ky made a long one earlier he orgasimed.
