We may not be entitled, but we’re certainly due.

As I get ready to leave for Athens, a thought occurs to me:  it’s been a while since Sanford Stadium was legitimately rocking.

It’s feel good time, Dawgs.  In fact, it’s way past time for that.

Consider this your game day thread post.

I was there (it was my junior year), and though I stayed on the stands, I still got soaking wet.

I remember thinking that our fans that ran on the field deserved security intervention. Then they turned the hoses on the band and Georgia fans celebrating in the it seats.

I love this rivalry, and hate that school, team, coaches, and fans.

I dislike UF, Tech, Clemson, UT, Notre Dame, OSU, Michigan immensely. There’s only one program I absolutely have white hot hate for: today’s opponent. They are an irredeemable disgrace.

I think I actually found myself in the video at midfield. Never realized that. It was a long wet ride home, but we didnt care. Great game then and a great one last night. Awesome to be their for both. The other comparable one was the blackout game.

In 88, I was in the redcoats that dropped our shakers at the end of halftime after we spelled Georgia. We got into a lot of trouble, administrators were running hot for a long time. It was worth it.

I lived in Colorado at the time and missed this. But I think it is one of the all-time great pranks – funny, memorable, positive, and not destructive.

Disappointing that people would be upset by it.

My favorite Red Coat prank was at the 1981 Sugar Bowl (80 season) against Notre Dame. The two bands joined at pregame to spell “USA” and play the national anthem. The Red Coat half adjusted the “S” into a “G” and did a quick “Glory, glory” salute with the ND band inadvertently helping spell UGA across the Superdome field. Classic.

I am not expecting a win, but if we don’t it will not be because I didn’t do my part.

We are 3 lineman, a good wide out and a year or so away from being a really good team. I’m impressed with Eason, Ridley, wimms, our dl and our lbs. We aren’t as far away as it might look. The line is the most glaring issue. Hopefully we don’t get Eason killed or make him so she’ll shocked that he won’t trust a line that does its job, IF we ever give him one.

No way we win this game. Senator was nuts. Ranked team and we are just rank. Offense only scored 6 points and shot itself in the foot so many times we have club feet. Aubarn ran all over us for their TD. We looked small and weak all over the field. And the SEC should be absolutely ashamed of these refs.

But then that D! The young stud in the middle! The blitzes! The kid we “stole” from Nicky…ha! It was a setup all along to be sure his agent beat the aubies. Brilliant!

I still don’t see a damn bit of difference in the new regime from the old, but there are finally some glimmers of hope the #process will bring us back…to 10 win seasons. 🤓 <— Rodrigo

    Proud of the boys tonight.

    One quick question:

Why do we trust Terry Godwin throwing in the red zone but not Skinny?

    Like

  71. D as in Dawg

Agree completely with the comments about Eason stepping up. He is beyond special. Takes a licking and comes back tougher. And why we didn’t let him throw more in the red zone is beyond me. This team with an improved offensive line could easily be 8-2 right now. Worries me because that will be hard to fix by next year. I hope tonight was a sign rather than an aberration.

Curiously, how we handle LL may say more about this team than the UF or AU games. Is there anyone we can impose our offensive will on? We shall see.

What a defensive performance in the 2ed half. No 1st downs and by my crude calculations Auburn only had a little more than 6 minutes of offensive possession, Pitiful performance by the refs. They botched the coin toss to start off with. Gary Daniels made the excuse that the ref couldn’t see the pass interference. The fans in the stands behind him certainly seen it. And how about the the non call on that punt. An Auburn player stepped off the sideline onto the field and lined up as a gunner. How is that not a penalty? Luckily they were flagged to interference on the other end of the play.

He hadn’t attempted a pass in the first nine games this year, but in practice he had thrown two touchdown passes on that play against Georgia’s defense.

“So I told coach Chaney: I want it,” Smart said. “He agreed. We went with it. Terry just made a bad decision there.”

    Like

  74. “This time Georgia at least was able to retain possession and get a field goal. But Smart had no regrets about the second Godwin pass call, having apparently seen it work seven out of seven times this year in college football.

“I thought it was an aggressive call. We were going to win the game,” Smart said. “You want to run the ball on third-and-4 at the goal? No, we want to find a way to get it in. We thought the kid, 6-foot-6, was going to get it. And their guy made a good play.”
