Admittedly that’s a tough choice for me…club Auburn like a baby seal and then rest against Fla/Tenn (I’ll assume it will be UT considering Florida’s remaining schedule) or vice versa…

That thinking is everything I was afraid of with the playoffs — rivalry, regular season games mean less than they used to if Alabama considers doing that. I don’t think any ‘Bane or Auburn fans would ever want to not try to win the Iron Bowl, but it is conceivable for a school/coaching staff/conference to look at the postseason prestige and money as being as important.

And yet there are those who still want to expand to 8 teams. I don’t think Bama would do this but even the thought or mention of this increases with bracket expansion. I like 4 and could see 6 but no more than that in my opinion.

This is all silliness and a diversionary rumor with no truth from any D1 experience, scare tactic only. No one has withheld players in the UGA/gt game, Bama/Auburn game, Clemson/SC game, FSU/FU game, ohio?Michigan game, etc, etc. They have all had chances to do so, but I cannot recall even one instance where players were withheld, or didn’t play the full amount.
To insure that in an eight team expansion with guaranteed spots for the conference champs, mu proposal is to play the opening round of games in mid-December at the home field of the top 4 seeds. They are the only ones that could gear up that quickly but no team would risk losing home field advantage. No resting of players until you get beyond 8, which I would not support anyway.

I was watching the upsets yesterday and thinking this would be so much more amazing if the playoff had not replaced the BCS. Expanding the playoff devalues the regular season.

No kidding, it has actually amplified the regular season. Fans now follow games all over the country, that didn’t happen before (except for us degenerates.) Now they hang on every word and outcome, and can discuss other teams around the country intelligently.

I see NFL lite more and more every year. Senior transfers is the big one to rise up this year. Also, look at the substituting strategies during the games. When player A gets yanked because player B weighs 5 lbs more to go up against what looks like defending a certain run play through a certain gap, it’s not amateur football. (I can’t prove it but it’s just an illustration to make the point that big money, big power, and big ego grows)

Well the guys at the WWL were crestfallen with our win. We took the drama right out of the Iron Bowl. Actually had a Bama fan thank me for UGA doing a little lite lifting for them. The Iron Bowl is a blood sport game no matter the records.

This is college football, Senator. It ain’t the NFL, never will be. Don’t care how many teams you have in a college football playoff, Auburn vs Alabama will continue to mean as much as it always has.
