A reader poll for the rest of us

Okay, I’m weak.  I can’t resist.

Here’s Georgia’s 2017 home schedule:

Sept. 2:  Appalachian State

Sept. 16: Samford

Sept. 23: Mississippi State

Oct. 14: Missouri

Nov. 4: South Carolina

Nov. 18: Kentucky

And here’s your reader poll.

If McEars has his way they will not be noon starts but 8 am starts. He is that myopic.

  2. 3 for sure but I’m leaning towards 4-5. Kentucky has traditionally been mostly at night, at least in my memory. I’m not looking forward to sending another check for such a bad schedule but I’ll be a good Dawg, probably enabling mcgarity to continue to disappoint me. At least opponents will enjoy their trips to the kinder gentler confines of Sanford stadium. ((rolls eyes))

I imagine McGarity and Jimmy Williamson working together towards some meaningless award. The Home&Garden National Championship

My bet is South Carolina and Kentucky will be late(r) starts, the rest we may as well plan on breakfast at the tailgate.

Auburn being rotated a few years back and our annual road game to Florida destroyed our home schedule in 2017. Hopefully we will have a decent SEC west home opponent in 2019 to go along with ND.

    • Yup. Never getting Florida at home is what it is, but getting them and Tennessee on the same rotation was disastrous. Maybe one of these years the SEC will force Auburn to make that right.

It never made sense and never will to me. No one else had to do that with their c oss division game (to my knowledge)

I think Vandy and Ole Miss also had to move but not 100% sure on that. But still, as if I care about those guys and once again – UGA takes it on the chin and / or allows it on the chin.
I’m guessing 4. With that SECN night time slot or 4pm time slot plus I’m guessing SOMEBODY on that list will turn out to be better than expected (or at least have a good record at the time – but will we..?).

Sorry. Was going to say if I remember correctly, it was the SEC that forced that on Auburn and us. They would prefer to have the Georgia game and Bama game split between home and away also.

I’d call App State and Samford those crappy cake doughnuts, not a good Krispy Kreme. I just hope we don’t choke on them.

Just not sure that is 5 grand worth of entertainment. Course seeing all the old friends that time of year tailgating is valuable.

I agree! That’s a lot o cash to shell out for that stinker of a home schedule…haven’t seen it quite this bad in a while. Even when it was bad, we at least played 7 homes games to somewhat make up for the crappy schedule…Now, we’re just paying even more for fewer crappy games (6 stinker home games) that will probably start at noon.

It’s a good think Uncle Verne is hanging it up this year. He never would have gotten back to Athens next year, which he says is one of his favorite venues if not THE favorite.

We have control with two of those opponents….knowing that we play at Notre Dame and have GT on the road, what would our fans have suggested being done with the first two games? What SEC team is playing more than 10 Power 5 regular season games? How many are even playing 10?

Fans holler for big OOC matchups..then complain at the issues they cause in scheduling…catch 22 comes to mind.

We made sure to schedule some good, close contests for the fans.

We may not be favored in any of them, but we will get you home in time for church.

Remember, get your Hartman Fund contributions in before the end of December and you can use your tax refund to pay for parking on G-Day.

4 is my guess. I will cut my donation $400, go from 8 to 6 season tix and see if the schedule impacts McGoofy at all. We started tailgating at the house or the son’s for nooners . That way time is not a factor. We leave the house with the group , park with our pass, are in our seats by 11:45. Last Saturday we were home at 3:50 and we stayed to the bitter end. But we tailgate a bunch more after.

USCe is probably CBS 3:30 game and one other SEC game at 6:00 or 6:30 on one of the ESPN’s.

  15. Since I could not choose more games than are being played, I will go with 5. South Car. later.

  16. Man. I’m sorry but it feels like piling on at this point. Yeah. I wasn’t happy with some of the outcomes this year and next year’s schedule is lame. But lately it seems like every post on this blog is how stupid McG is, how because of the past KS is destined for failure etc. McG isn’t going anywhere and neither is KS. Seems like tilting at windmills. I’m going to to keep pulling for the dawgs.
