Is Jim McElwain writing checks with his mouth that his team can’t cash?

Nice bravado, sir.

… during halftime of UF’s basketball game on Saturday against Vanderbilt. That’s when McElwain was trying to fire up the crowd and perhaps get the attention of many marquee football recruits who were attending the game.

When McElwain and some of his current UF football players were introduced at halftime, McElwain — with microphone in hand — ran out to center court and whipped the O’Dome into a frenzy.

“I’ll tell you something, what an awesome arena and a great crowd,” McElwain said. “It’s because of the energy every day that we were able to go undefeated in the Swamp, we were able to go to Atlanta back to back years. … And because of you guys, when we get back to Atlanta next season, we’re going to kick the door down!”

Only problem with that, Jim?  Florida has played Alabama.  It hasn’t worked out too well for you either time.

“..Kick the door down..”? Is ole Jim channeling his inner Bum Phillips?

who was Jim convincing? himself or the recruits in attendance? desperation is an awful thing to watch… 😉

i still wish he was an asshole. Too nice to hate.

    Smells like Jim Donnan…

    At least he’s gotten there.

Jimmy and Joes in my opinion, he did fine at CSU with someone else’s recruits and left the cupboard pretty bare. Colorado is a tough area to recruit for anyone, but I did think he would fare better in the Florida/South Georgia area. Seems like a genuinely nice guy, maybe he is just lazy….wouldn’t the process have picked up on this?

The Process didn’t really mind when Nussmeier made a lateral move to Meatchicken, so McElwain clearly thinks more of his OC than Saban did.

It is quite an accomplishment to win the East in your first two years of coaching in the SEC. But the current level of competition is pathetic, I must say, and UGA has been basically cannon fodder for UF the past three years. A tough, physical team with an actual offensive line would cave in the UF house of cards, IMO.

McElwain has done a good job especially considering he had to replace starting mid season QBs in his 1st 2 years in a program after Boom didn’t recruit offense well.

I honestly like Jim McCalwain (or however you spell his name) but he won’t be there to kick anything. We will. Now whether we beat an Alabama team that will be clearly on a mission…

Well at least he’s gotten to the door.We can’t even do that.
