Retiring 30 years too late for my taste. Worst broadcaster other than Dick Vitale in my mind.

“Musburger, who is 77 years old, plans to move to Las Vegas and help his family start a sports handicapping business.”

No farewell tour like uncle verne. I say they are putting him out to pasture.

  5. Moving to Vegas and starting a sports handicapping business sure do confirm a lot of suspicions about him.

If he had retired 5 years ago he would have deserved the Uncle Verne treatment. But damn, he’s been horrible, horrible, the last couple of years.

It’s a shame UGA basketball has to be be associated with his last call.

Finally! Musburger is easily my most hated play-by-play caller!

  10. My all time favorite call of his was for a Michigan State game at least 20 years ago. If I remember correctly, MSU was down late and had a only few seconds remaining as they received a kickoff. The kick was a short sky-pooch. The MSU player caught it and almost began to run, so Musberger yelled “DOWN IT!!!!” The guy then did take a knee which prompted Musberger to follow with a much lower toned “…..and he does.”

Evidence that there is a merciful God. Although five or ten years ago would have been better. And I totally believe his commentary had nothing to do with it. And isn’t it great that he gets to call the KY-UGA game as his swan song. That ought to be fun for dawg fans. 😦

    • Yeah, I’m sure he’s going to call a balanced game. What a shame (for us that actually watch UGA basketball). Now if only we could get ESPN to do the same to Mike Patrick…

Also props for a stellar internet handle. I had no idea.

Was relegating Brent to the SECN not putting him out to pasture? His I don’t give a ship attitude the last few years definitely took the luster off his career but I always thought he was pretty good.

January 23, 2017, Mark Fox releases statement on end of Georgia-Texas A&M game:

“The SEC acknowledged a timing system malfunction and the mistake of not recognizing it. We fully understand NCAA rules were appropriately administered after the mistake occurred. It was unfortunate that when J.J. Frazier looked at the game clock, he saw time that evidently did not exist.”

I’ll not be watching that game, thanks, because I won’t be able to stand the pretend niceties and Musberger’s extensive displays of false humility.

As Charles Barkly would say, Musburger has been turrible for years.

I hated him immediately the first time I ever heard him. I’ve hated him since. I don’t know how he’s stayed employed. Good. Fucking. Riddance.
