You can’t touch this.
“Coach Chaney, he’s a mastermind, honestly,” Holloman said. “Seeing him actually work is crazy. The things he’s able to do, he disguises things. He’ll have the run game open up the pass game for vertical threats, things like that. The quarterbacks, of course, they’re going to get the ball to us. That’s another blessing to be here.”
From your lips to Gawd’s ears, brother.
That’ a big ole keg of kool aid right there, pardner..

Motion everyone into the box with 3 tight ends on the field and then run up the middle! They’ll never guess we’re going to be do dumb enough to do that.

But see, you just lull them to sleep by punting the entire first season. Then, in years two and three, when they’re expecting you to run up the gut into a 9-man front, you shock the piss out of them by releasing a tight end down the seam. It’s genius, I tells ya!

If I were betting, I pick Hollman to be on with team longer than Chaney.

Where do we go from here? It’s only February 4th. At this rate, we’ll be hearing this summer about how Jacob Eason threw a baseball through a brick wall and Mel Tucker turned down NFL head coaching jobs.

I heard Todd Grantham is considering an NFL job, oh wait, he only does that during recruiting season.

Hope springs eternal I guess. Maybe this short walk-on kid will give Chaney a flash back to Drew Brees. After all Eason waits for the receiver to be wide open before he throws it. Our receivers have only been wide open a handful of time in my 50 years of watching UGA football. If he can’t throw them open he’s useless. I think Chaney and Smart had Eason so afraid of turning the ball over the kid just couldn’t sling it.

No, we are starting the Blue Chips and the short walk-on kids will play on the scout team.

Oh my! Someone showed him Bobo’s offense one the field and photo shopped the big guy into the press box. I am feeling guilty about our recruiting tactics now
Or, he has gotten a sneak preview to the new wrinkles Chaney is planning for 2017, at which time I should be flying to Vegas and going all-in on the early line for the Dawgs winning it all this season. (More likely that he has inside info on a change at OC and the new guy, Shannahan, did his recruitment. I mean we do both wear red and black.)

like most reasonable fans, I wanna get better, 8 wins don’t cut it. At least finish in the AP Poll top 25. Gonna need 9 wins to pull it off, I figure the only battles will be Auburn, Florida, Tenn, and GT. Win 3 of 4 there, and you got your 9 wins. Florida is the only consistently good defense Chaney will face. TN’s offense was good last year but lost Dobbs, Auburn should be very good on offense, so gonna be a shootout GT is usually a high scoring shootout. SHOULD beat UF if put up 28 points and don’t turn the ball over.

I agree with everyone else here. How dare a 17 year old kid, who should be enjoying the back half of his senior year in high school, have the gall to be excited about his first glimpses of a college offense. He has absolutely no right to publicly express feelings of admiration of his new coach, because he surely has to realize what every true Dawg fan already knows – Chaney sucks! Man, people’s lack of ability to understand the context of these quotes never ceases to amaze me.

Did you see anything last season like Holloman just described?

Not in the least. But it doesn’t matter what I saw. The context here is simply a 17 year old early enrollee getting his first look at any type of offensive scheme beyond the high school level. Then he honestly expressed his thoughts on this during an interview. This is the most cliche-free, purest answer you’re going to get because the entire process is brand new to him. Everyone complained when access wasn’t granted to freshmen, but now an honest statement from an early enrollee gets mocked as clueless “happy talk”.

Lol the only thing he has probably seen is the playbook and maybe it was an old one of Bobo’s in crayon of course. 🙂

I hope y’all give Coach Chaney at least another year before pitchforks. Jacob Eason was no worse than 2010 Aaron Murray. Less interceptions actually. Mike Bobo started calling plays in the 2006 bowl game and didn’t really start humming until 2011. Bobo called some masterpieces in 2012-2013. I hope Chaney doesn’t take that long but I’m willing to give him at least until Eason’s junior season.

Murray threw for over 3,000 yards, 24 TDs and 8 interceptions with a QB rating of 154.5 as a redshirt freshman. He did all of that without the guy who is arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL for the first 4 games of the season because Greg McGarity allowed the NCAA to keep probing after it was clear AJ Green wasn’t at that agent’s party in Miami. Eason’s stats this year aren’t close to comparable.

I’m commenting that HS thought Eason was as good as Murray in 2010. The tale of the tape dismisses that notion easily. Eason would have been better off this season redshirting as Murray did, but the coaches decided that he was the best option available.

No way was Eason as good as Murray as a freshmen.
Eason
2,430 yards, 16 TDs, 8 INTs, 120.2 rating
Murray – see stats above
Plus Murray was a much better and effective runner as a freshman than Eason. If Murray has AJ for those first 4 games and in game shape at Colorado, no way we’re 1-4 at that point.

I’m not buying the “Chaney is a genius” talk. But he dialed up several plays where receivers were wide open and Eason didn’t get it to them. Or, if he did get it to them, they dropped them. There was even one time at the end of the Tennessee game where a receiver was open deep, Eason put it on the money, and Ridley caught it.
