Old name back in the news…

It’s the coaching equivalent of the circle of life.

Is Tubberville still at Cincy or did they run him off? I guess, not lucky enough to have Willie end up at Florida or somewhere useful.

Has Willie ever left a job on his own accord for a better position?

Man, that’s gotta be tough, and hard on the ol’ ego…going from DC at UGA to DB coach at UT to DB coach at Cinci. What’s next — special teams coach at Presbyterian?

He is and has been well compensated, so I don’t feel all that bad for the guy or anything; but I suspect he looks back on his UGA days as the ultimate halcyon days.

I don’t think that word “ironically” means what Jimmy Hyams thinks it means. Good thing words aren’t part of his craft. Oh, wait …

If you diagrammed the college football coaching family tree, Willie would be his own Grandpa.

I’m very disappointed. I just thought Willie was a shitty DC. Now I learn that he was a shitty position coach, too. What in the world was CMR thinking when he (1) kept him on as DB coach and (2) promoted the guy to DC? It was guaranteed to blow up in CMR’s face and ultimately this is what cost CMR his job IMHO. He used up all the cred he had by hanging on to Willie too long. That came back to haunt him later.
