“... Shoot, why does anybody who’s ever won something do it again? Because it’s cool. So, let’s go do it again. Let’s see if we’ve got what it takes.” -- Stetson Bennett, The Athletic, 3/22/22
We can’t even scratch in an SEC competition for best cheaters. Is that proof we ain’t been tryin’ all these years? I am more shocked that the whole Cam Newton fiasco didn’t rate a mention. That’s the weirdest NCAA investigation I’ve ever seen; all that proof of cash being sought and changing hands, and I still don’t understand how it all got wrapped up so fast with no charges. Was James Comey working for the NCAA back in 2010?

The NCAA would have lost too much money had they suspended $cam. That whole cheating scandal just added to my deep hatred of the War Chickens, after what took place with AJ.

^This. The Barners have really learned how to do it and get away with it. Hiring the former NCAA Director of investigations (or whatever his title was) has really helped them.

Give it time now. The pressure to win at all costs is now there.

I feel like if the AJ-C was compiling the list Jan Kemp would be at the top, followed closely by Jim Harrick/Tony Cole, and then Wally Butts/Bear Bryant. And of course AJ Green and Todd Gurley would be way ahead of the current Ole Miss situation.

I didn’t even click this article the first time that I saw it because I figured Jan Kemp would be on the list. Maybe it was too long ago. It was, however, a remarkable scandal and certainly it was quite a serious situation. The Jim Harrick scandal was also awful and deserving of a spot on the list. It’s nice that they had amnesia!

What did the NCAA have to do with the Kemp matter?

Exactly. Of course, if they had been prosecuting something, we would have come out better, probably. The Georgia Way did enough damage. What I will always recall about Jan Kemp is that Tyrone Sorrells – one of the subjects of her angst – managed to transfer to Georgia Tech. guess reading isn’t required there.

I always thought Auburn cheated early and often, and they certainly figured prominently in that article along with Florida. Kentucky? I had forgotten.

Huntley Johnson must have really perfected the Florida Way. Yes I very much remember reminding Florida in the 90s it was the 1st SEC championship they could actually claim. One of many reasons why Florida is my most disliked rival.

Ah. good old Auburn. You can always depend on them being right in the middle of cheating scandals.
