The opposite of coachspeak

If you want to know why I have a soft spot in my heart for Mike Leach, one reason is because you never know what he’ll say next.

That immediately brought this to mind.

And that’s the thing.  There aren’t that many coaches that can get me to Gram Parsons in one shot like that.

The dodge ball comment on the end is just a bonus.

The only sage piece of advice I have for my son is this:

“Look son, the best thing you can do for your future female seeking endeavors is learn how to dance. Only 1% of athletes or musicians grow up to be able to fully capitalize past high school. But if you can dance, you will always do better than you have a right to. Here ends the lesson.”

That’s great advice until you’re around 30. Then I’d recommend having a little cash in your pocket. I doubt Mr. Bojangles, despite dancing abilities worthy of a classic song, was a big hit with the ladies even when he wasn’t in the New Orleans city jail.

      Also sage advice:

That guy used to amuse me.

  3. I couldn’t resist … I was forced to watch this by my middle school and elementary school daughters.

Always preferred Genesis to Gram Parsons…

    Hey, don’t forget Leo

If it doesn’t work out with Smart, lets go hire Mike Leach. Just completely go the other direction; the complete anti-Saban.

Senator I always read your blog, but I really love how you continue to bring Gram Parsons back to life – just awesome stuff.

  8. Seems like Leach might not have dodged the wrench…

Can’t get enough of Leach. His “little fat girlfriend” rant is my favorite one as of right now.

  10. Always time for Gram Parsons and/or the Burrito Brothers

Coaches getting you to GP in one step? Any that tout their Christianity (Bobby Bowden comes to mind), bring out the Byrds Sweethearts of the Rodeo, “The Christian Life,” especially the bonus version where Gram sings lead instead of Roger.

Use only if forced out there…

I loved the 10 minute diatribe he had last year about why they don’t have designated captains at Washington State. Dude is certainly a rare bird.
Seriously though, who would look at Mike Leach and think, “I bet that guy is a helluva dancer.” No one. He was just killing time at the presser to keep from asking questions. Crazy like a fox, IMO.
