Someone emailed me with a MPC request to celebrate Elton John’s 70th birthday. I confess I’ve never been much of a fan, but I’ve always had a warm place in my heart for this scene from Almost Famous, set to “Tiny Dancer”, so enjoy.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23

Reminds me of come of our rides back to Amelia after the Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail party, except we didn’t sing no Elton John tune.

Since he’s 70, I expect he’s got the young man’s blues.
Sir Elton has long been thought to be the piano player on this gem:

great movie… I put it right up there with Caddyshack, Animal House, Dazed and Confused and Where the Buffalo Roam. Watching these movies one could get a pretty good picture of the counter culture during my formative years.
Happy Birthday Elton. Thanks again Senator. Wait till next year keeps getting more and more a young man’s game.

I saw him in concert in Colorado 9 days ago. He was amazing. No opening act and played for two hours straight a five minute break and a half an hour encore. His voice is still strong.

One of the great movie soundtracks. I believe it’s the first one Zeppelin agreed to be on.

What band is “Almost Famous” based upon? I ask because the scene says 1974 and I do know the Allman Bros were on the cover of the Rolling Stone magazine in 1974 (per AXS reel to reel). Kate Hudson(Penny Lane) was responsible for me having to finally admit I was officially a dirty old man .Just Damn.
